Description

The invention relates to a method for klebeweisen attaching a cover sheet on the back of a book block formed from bound sheet in the production of books, brochures or magazines, in which the cover sheet fed respectively with the book block back facing inside for connection and then to the book block back and the side Flanks of the book block back is pressed.

This process is inter alia in " Adhesive Bonding Technology "by Alfred Furler, ed. 1971 see section 8.6 "Mounting in Envelopes".

It happens that the envelopes are coated on the surface with a glue-incompatible coating, so that an insufficient connection of the envelope with the book block is formed. Often, the surface is too smooth, so that an insufficient attachment of the envelope on the book block back arises. Also, any chemical process occurring between the adhesive and the surface of the cover sheet will interfere with the combination of book block and cover. Thick envelopes in the spine area have a negative impact on the impact behavior of a book block, because they increase the unpopular stapling effect on the back.

The DE - A - 24 51 947 relates to a method for producing a brochure with reinforced envelope, wherein the book block between the top resp. the lowermost sheet has a paperboard sheet adhesively bonded to the associated cover flap and adhered to the backsheet.

The US Pat. No. 5,340,155 provides a hot-glue binding system for books in which there is a cavity between the book block spine and the back cover; due to the type of binding referred to as open back brochure.

The JP-A-8 295 085 discloses a binding method for brochures, in which a book block in the flank area of the block spine repeatedly pierced and bordered by a glued strip, the holes covering.

By the DE-A-37 07 675 a method for producing a booklet has become known, the envelope of which has two covers and a back connecting them, wherein on the inside of the back between two latter limiting fold lines a strip of a binder, such as thermoplastic hotmelt adhesive is applied, which is activated to between him and one edge of a bunch of leaves, which is inserted between the lids to make an adhesive bond.

Object of the present invention is to provide a method according to the aforementioned type, with which a flexurally soft, the opening and stress levels of a bound book gently accommodating spine produced and optimal compatibility between glue and cover sheet can be achieved.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by a method according to claim 1.

The achievable by tension eased back, has a positive impact on the resilience and durability of a book spine when opening and closing a book.

The cover sheets can be prepared off-line or after leaving a cover feeder resp. be processed accordingly on the conveyor to the book block back.

Advantageously, the cover sheet is removed in layers over at least the width of the book block spine, so that a regular surface remains.

Preferably, the removal of the envelope material is mechanical or chemical, i. in a proven way.

To optimize the adhesive bond between book block and cover, the exposed surface can be post-processed or post-treated.

The excavation of the recess on the cover sheet can be done before or after the production of decorative grooves.

The process according to the invention can be carried out in an adhesive binder.

Fig. 1
Fig. 2
den mit dem Buchblockrücken verbundenen Umschlagbogen.
Subsequently, the invention will be explained with reference to the drawing, to which reference is made with respect to all unspecified details in the description, based on an embodiment. In the drawing show:
Fig. 1
an outstretched cover sheet and provided in the hanging position book block and
Fig. 2
the cover sheet connected to the book block spine.

FIG. 1 shows an envelope 1 provided with four hollow grooves, wherein the two outer hollow grooves form the so-called decorative groove 2, 3, which prove to be hinges of the book covers. The inner grooves 4, 5 serve to surround the book back edges 6, 7 of a book block 8, as shown in FIG. 2. In Fig. 1, a bound book block 8 evenly distributed on the grooves 2 to 5 at a distance from the book cover 1 is shown. This book cover 1 is on the book block back 9 side facing provided with a reaching almost to the decorative grooves 2, 3 recess 10 which projects beyond the book block back 9 for the purpose of side gluing on the flanks to the book block back 9 side. The opposite of the bottom 11 of the recess 10 illustrative line drawn boundary lines of the envelope 1 should indicate that the latter is provided on both sides with a coat of paint. The recess 10 extends uniformly at least approximately over the envelope height. The recess 10 can be produced by machining or by applying an aggressive agent. A post-treatment or aftertreatment of the bottom 11 of the recess 10 could favor the subsequent connection with the glue.
Fig. 2 shows a finished according to the information of Fig. 1 book.
The undercut, for example, brought up by a cover feeder to the book block spine 9, has an opening 10 excavated off-line or on the way to the transfer station of an adhesive binder, which is provided with a glue application 13. Parallel thereto, a side gluing on the flanks of the book block back 9 can be made in the perfect binder. Thereafter, the book cover 1 is brought from below to the book block back 9 and pressed both from below to the book block back 9 as well as to the flanks 12 of the book block back 9 (read in " Technology of perfect binding "by Alfred Furler, 1971 edition ). The glue application 13 connects book block 8 and cover 1 over the area between the ornamental grooves 2, 3.

The adhesive occurring on the book block back 9 and / or the flank 12 and in the recess 10 can be seen in FIG. 2 by the hatching and fills the space bounded by the book block back, decorative grooves 2, 3 and cover 1 or the recess 10.
