Abstract

The method involves detecting relevant values (1, 1',...) with respect to the individual sheets for the printing process and processing the values so predetermined limit values (4,4') are maintained. The trend of a relevant value over a sequence of sheets is detected and measures are initiated if a variation in values occurs whereby a continuation of the trend for a further predetermined number of sheets would lead to a limit being exceeded. Independent claims are also included for the following: an arrangement for implementing the method.

Description

The invention relates to a method for preventing limit crossings in sheet-fed printing machines, wherein values relevant to the printing process with respect to the individual sheets are detected and processed in such a way that predetermined limit values are maintained.

In sheetfed presses, a number of values must be maintained for the individual sheets to guide the sheets accurately through the machine and to obtain the same prints. Limit values must be adhered to, so that neither printing of unusable sheets nor machine stops occurs.

Der Nachteil dieser Art der Verhinderung von Grenzwertüberschreitungen besteht darin, dass der Druck unterbrochen werden muss und wertvolle Betriebszeit verloren gehtFrom the technical description of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG "HDM M2.1449321", it is known to record relevant values of the sheets, such as the sheet arrival, the skew of sheets or the sheet at the feeder, and when exceeding limits, the supply of more sheets or to stop the whole machine. Then an indication takes place, due to which error the pressure was interrupted. The disadvantage of this type of prevention of limit violations is that the pressure must be interrupted and valuable operating time is lost

From the GB-A-2 175 116 a device is known which monitors operations in machines. The sensors can be attached to faulty positions in the machine and provide signals to the operator. The signals show either the agreement with the setpoint or the positive or negative deviation from the setpoint. There is a given tolerance between the respective signals. Based on these signals, the operator can take appropriate action. In case of a threatening error, the machine will be shut down automatically. The disadvantage of this device is that the operator can not recognize how the trend of the relevant values continues.

The invention is therefore based on the object of making available a method of the type mentioned at the beginning, by which wastepaper prints or interruption of the printing due to non-adhered values are largely prevented.

The object is achieved according to the invention by a method which is characterized in that the development trend of a relevant value is detected in the course of a sequence of sheets and measures are taken if the values change, and if the development trend continues predetermined number of sheets would lead to a limit violation.

By means of the invention it is achieved that the countermeasures can be taken as soon as values show a development tendency which is heading towards the limit value. As a result, the achievement of the limit value is usually prevented because timely countermeasures against this trend can be made. In this way, neither useless waste printing nor a machine stop occurs. The productivity and thus the economic efficiency of the machine is increased.

The invention can be implemented in various ways. One possibility is to inform the operator of the development trend of the values in good time before reaching the limit in order to initiate countermeasures. For this purpose, suitable display options are proposed. Another possibility is that a controller automatically counteracts such a development trend. The latter is particularly useful in high-speed machines, since the introduction of countermeasures must be relatively fast.

A further development of the method envisages that individual values shedding the development trend for the determination of the development trend are eliminated. There can always be individual single values that are shedding, which must be eliminated in order to determine the development trend in order to avoid a falsification of the result. Such shearing individual values can occur, for example, in that individual sheets have a defect with respect to their nature or dimensions.

The values at which a limit value violation is to be avoided by the method according to the invention may be the most varied values which are related to the individual sheets to be processed. Thus, it is possible that the values are the position of the sheets at a certain machine angle, the position of the sheet leading edges or a page offset of sheets. However, it is also possible that the values represent errors in the correction within the machine, such as drawing errors with respect to the application of sheets to a page mark. However, a skew of bends, registration errors, or other values related to the individual sheets may also be detected.

A particularly important application is the acquisition of values on the feeder of the sheetfed press, since the exact installation of the sheet are the prerequisite for trouble-free operation of the machine.

The recorded values can be displayed so that an operator can take countermeasures in good time. It is possible to suggest to the operator such countermeasures, or it may also be a Control to correct the values are controlled.

The representation of the values by the device may be visual or audible to cause an operator to take countermeasures, or it is possible that the evaluation device displays the sensed values by signals transmitted to a controller for automatically performing the countermeasures.

An expedient embodiment of the device provides that the representation takes place on at least one display, wherein the values of a predetermined number of a sequence of sheets which have passed the at least one sensor last, always supplemented by the value of the current sheet and as a sequence of Individual values are displayed in relation to the setpoint and to the limit values. An operator can grasp the development trend at a glance on such a display and be able to take timely countermeasures to prevent the limit from being exceeded. One way of presenting the display shows the values of the individual sheets as bars, with the end of the bars showing the position of the respective value in relation to the setpoint and limit values, which are represented by lines. In this way, for example, the values of 20 sheets can be displayed, and the operator immediately recognizes when a development trend is towards the limit. Scattering individual values are also recognizable and can be ignored for taking countermeasures against the development trend. A further representation provides that the display shows the values of the individual sheets as a curve, which represents the time evolution of the individual values in relation to the setpoint and limit values. This representation is expediently selected when, with fast-running machines, a very large number of individual values occur within a short period of time and thus the representation of the individual values is no longer possible. It is essential in the representations that a period of development can be detected in such a way that sufficient reaction time is possible to take the appropriate countermeasures.

In order to avoid that the operator overlooks a corresponding development trend, it can be provided that a signaling device is activated by the evaluation as soon as a change in the values occurs, which leads to a limit violation in a further predetermined number of sheets in a continuation of the development trend would. The signaling device may be an optical and / or acoustic signaling device.

In order for the operator to take the correct countermeasure in a short time, provision can be made for the evaluation device to actuate a further display in the case of the above-mentioned change of the values in order to display stored countermeasures in a readable manner. The operator can be made aware of the error source or it is displayed directly, which change is to be made.

Advantageously, a plurality of displays for displaying a plurality of types of values are arranged on the control panel of the printing press. The other display, which displays information as text or symbol, can also be located there. This allows the operator to get an idea of the state of the machine at their primary location.

Another degree of automation is particularly useful in high-speed printing presses. It is provided that the representation of the detected values is effected by signals, wherein a control in such a change of the signals representing the values that would occur at a further predetermined number of sheets a continuation of the development trend, at least one actuator for changing the Development trends is driven. This automatic evaluation and processing of the signals not only relieves the operator, it also makes it possible to take countermeasures in fractions of a second. For very fast-moving presses, this is often the only way to intercept a development trend before reaching the limit by appropriate countermeasures.

A particularly important application of the device is at the feeder of a sheet-fed press. For this purpose, at least one sensor is arranged on the sheet feeder, and the evaluation device is used to ensure a sheet system in compliance with the specified limits.

Of course, a correspondence in the design of the device is possible for all listed process characteristics. In this case, a combination of an automatic control with a display for the operator to check this control can be provided. The controller can also be designed such that various relevant data, such as the paper type, the paper weight or the format can be entered. By means of this data, the basic setting is then automatically made by the controller, for example with regard to the feeder phase, the negative pressure in the feed table, the pulling force for aligning the sheets on the side mark, etc. In operation, this basic setting is corrected by recording the actual values achieved.

Such a development trend 12 can, for example, move in the direction of the limit value 4 in a prognosis time point 11. In this case, a prognosis is created for the initiation of countermeasures in which a certain number of values are used For example, the last four values may be used to predict a trend for the next three values, which are designated by reference numeral 12. If the values used for the forecast are more exasperating Single value 8, it will not be used for the forecast because it would falsify it. For the forecast time 11, as shown, k exceeding the limit value 4 and therefore no countermeasure is initiated. This is different in the forecast time 11 ', for which it follows that an exceedance of the limit value 4 must be expected after three further curves. Therefore, a countermeasure must be taken at forecast time 11 'in order to prevent the limit value being exceeded.

Fig. 2 zeigt eine Anzeigevorrichtung für eine Bedienperson. Fig. 2 shows a display device for an operator. To display the detected values 1, 1 ', 1 ", 1'",... Of the individual sheets, displays 2, 2 ', 2 ",... Which indicate different types of detected values 13 are used. The displays 2, 2 'are labeled accordingly, here with "Bogenankunft" and "Schrägbogen". Another display 7 serves to convey readable information 14 to the operator. These can indicate the source of the error or recommend a countermeasure to the operator.

In the illustrated embodiment, the display 2 indicates the sheet arrival, with a machine angle of 270 ° is the target value for the sheet arrival. Deviations of 10 ° are defined as the upper limit value 4 and as the lower limit value 4 '. The setpoint 3, the lower limit value 4 'and the upper limit value 4 are indicated by lines 6 on the display 2. The individual values 1, 1 ', 1 ", 1'", ... are represented by bars 5, where 1 is the value of the current arc. These values 1, 1 ', 1 ", 1'",. .. are always supplemented by the value of the current arc, so that the display 2 always moves with respect to the temporal display from right to left and thereby a certain number of values 1, 1 ', 1 ", 1' '', ... Thus, it is possible for the operator to follow the trend of the changes in the values 1, 1 ', 1 ", 1' '',..., and to initiate 12 countermeasures in a corresponding development. This visually to be made prognosis can be facilitated by the fact that a signal device 15 is provided which emits an optical or acoustic signal when in a prognosis time, such as 11 ', is to be expected in exceeding the limit value 4 in the next sheet. In such a case, a readable countermeasure 14 can be displayed on the further display 7, as an example, the operator is here asked to check the air pressure of the suction belt. With such a display can of course also be coupled to an automatic control of actuators, through which the machine automatically initiates countermeasures and the operator only checks the proper adjustment of the values.

The further display 2 'indicates oblique arc, with an offset of the arc of plus or minus 5 mm as limit 4, 4' is located. Since the values 1, 1 ', 1 ", 1'",... Move in the direction of the limit value 4 on this display 2 ', an indication of the signal device 15 has been triggered.

Using the example of a further display 2 ', it is shown that the values can also be represented by means of a curve 16 instead of by individual bars 5. Such a representation is to be preferred if the displayed time span comprises too many values 1, 1 ', 1 ", 1'",..., In order to be able to visually detect them with a bar graph.
