Definitions
- the present invention relates to a watch-phone comprising a housing, a microphone and at least one first pressure compensation member, this microphone being capped with a membrane impervious and first pressure compensation member comprising a pellet hydrophobic membrane, said membrane and said pellet being in direct communication with the outside of the watch-phone.
- this document which discloses a watch-phone according to the preamble of claim 1, describes a deformable membrane capping a microphone.
- This membrane separates the microphone from a controlled entrance cavity in the case of the watch, this cavity being in direct communication with the outside of the watch.
- Between the membrane and the microphone is a space intermediate admitting a deformation of this membrane under the action of a external static pressure, immersion in water for example.
- the deformation of the membrane is however limited, on the microphone side, by an Support. Out of the liquid, the membrane is mounted so that it can vibrate freely under the action of the sound energy to be received by the microphone.
- the cited document still describes a hydrophobic pellet making up the essential a first pressure compensating member between the outside and the inside of the shows.
- This pellet must of course be impervious to liquids, for example when the watch is immersed.
- This pellet must still be permeable to gases whose pressure varies slowly, this to isolate the air in front of the earpiece (described in EP-A-0 899 635) of the air behind this earphone and avoid an acoustic short circuit resulting in a poor performance of this transducer.
- this pellet constitutes a low-pass filter leaving no pass that gas pressure variations such as air, very low frequency, typically 1/10 Hz and less.
- the pellet can be made for example of Teflon (registered trademark) sintered or in ceramic.
- This second organ is composed essentially a pellet similar to that described in the paragraph above.
- this pellet notably makes it possible to acoustically isolate the microphone of the earphone since it only allows air that is pressurized varies slowly and thus avoids the Larsen effect mentioned above.
- the quality hydrophobic of the pellet is not used since it is not in contact with a liquid medium. It will be understood, however, that to simplify things one uses the same material as that used for the pellet equipping the first organ pressure compensator.
- the microphone and the pressure compensating member are located far from each other.
- the entrance cavity practiced in front of the membrane covering the microphone opens on the outside of the watch by a narrow channel arranged at right angles.
- the first compensating pressure includes a narrow channel practiced in the bottom of the watch and culminating on the wrist of the wearer.
- the microphone and the first organ pressure compensator are arranged in close proximity to each other, their membrane and lozenge respective at least partially on a single chamber opening onto the outside of the watch-phone through a long opening made in the housing.
- a liquid capable of ridding it of impurities from outside, in particular those which may have been deposited on the membrane and said pellet and that would harm their proper functioning.
- Figure 1 shows the interesting part of the invention. This is a portion of a watch-phone 3 having a housing 4 housing all the components necessary for the operation of the watch and phone.
- Figure 1 shows the bottom-middle 4 of this housing, a crown 20 of time setting, a pusher 21, a groove 22 in which is housed a gasket 23 guaranteeing tightness with respect to a telescope 24 (see FIG. 2 and 3) and a compartment 25 adapted to receive a SIM card allowing access to a mobile communications system.
- FIG. 3 shows that the membrane 5 is in direct communication with the outside of the watch-phone 3.
- Figures 1 and 4 show, for their part, at least one first pressure compensation member 2, this organ comprising a hydrophobic pellet 6 which will be discussed later.
- the pastille 6 is also in direct communication with the outside of the watch-phone as seen in Figure 4.
- the present invention is remarkable first of all by the fact that the microphone 1 and the pressure compensation member 2 are located nearby immediately from each other.
- Figures 1 and 5 show this fact well.
- the present invention is then remarkable in that the membrane 5 styling the microphone 1 and the patch 6 equipping the pressure compensation member 2 at least partially on a single chamber 7 which leads to the outside of the watch-phone through a long opening 8 practiced in the case 4.
- Figures 1 and 5 bear witness to this arrangement.
- the chamber 7 is shown in plan. It is materialized by the broken line 26 which delimits the bottom of the chamber and the front of the bottom-middle 4, referenced 27. It can be seen in FIG. 1 that membrane 5 and pellet 6 give only partially on room 7. Note, however, that this discovery could be larger and be extended to the entire area of the membrane and lozenge.
- the long opening 8 on the outside is delimited in FIG. 1 by the first end of the broken line 26 located on the top of the figure and by the second end of this same line located on the bottom of the figure.
- the chamber 7 is a section along line V-V of FIG. clearly sees that the membrane 5 and the patch 6 give onto a single chamber 7 which serves as a common chamber in contact with the outside through the opening 8.
- aperture 8 presents a slot well shown in Figure 2 which is a side view according to the arrow II shown in Figure 1.
- This slot has elongated edges, a lower edge 9 and an upper edge 10 (see also FIG. 5).
- this slot is quite long, we found it useful, to avoid sagging of the bottom, to connect the edges 9 and 10 with a 11 reinforcing rib, this rib being located substantially in the middle of the slot. This rib 11 is visible and referenced in all the figures.
- the first pressure compensation member 2 visible in FIGS. 1, 4 and 5 has a pellet 6 called hydrophobic, that is to say, impermeable to water. It guarantees therefore the sealing of the watch to liquids.
- This pellet 6 is permeable on the other hand gases whose pressure varies slowly. The reason for his presence and his functioning has been explained in the preamble of this description, and it is not therefore, it is not necessary to recall these notions here.
- the membrane 5 covering the microphone 1 defines with said microphone a space 12 in communication with a second organ 13 pressure compensator, this communication being through a channel 30.
- the member 13 thus comprises a pellet 14 permeable to gases of which the pressure varies slowly to avoid any feedback between the earphone and the microphone internally.
