Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a method for depositing at room temperature, on an absorbent paper product, a softening lotion.
  • the invention relates more particularly to a method for depositing at room temperature, on a cellulose wadding product, a softening or emollient lotion which is in the liquid state at room temperature.
  • Absorbent paper is understood to mean the cellulose wadding obtained by wet process or the so-called "ugly air” paper obtained by the dry route and consisting of papermaking fibers bonded by a thermoplastic binder such as a latex.
  • the lotion to be deposited is of the type comprising one or more emollient active ingredients in dispersion or in emulsion in a volatile liquid vehicle, in particular in water.
  • an emollient lotion which gives the paper a soft, slippery feel.
  • the lotion may be transferable from the paper to the skin of the user.
  • the invention finds application in the manufacture of paper products such as household or sanitary papers. More particularly, the papers whose use involves direct contact with the skin and repeated rubbing with it, such as disposable tissues, toilet paper or any other paper product for wiping the skin , makeup remover, dry wipes, etc.
  • the invention also relates to a paper product obtained according to the process.
  • the process used to deposit the lotion moisten as little as possible the paper product, which is inherently absorbent, in particular to avoid a loss of the mechanical properties of the product during rewinding occurring in the production cycle after the deposition step of the lotion, and also to avoid degradation of the product during storage after its production.
  • the lotion and the active ingredients are distributed in the most homogeneous and regular manner to the surface of the product.
  • One of the other qualities of a paper product on which an emollient lotion has been deposited is the ability of the lotion present on the product, and in particular the active ingredients that it contains, to be transferred for all or part of the skin of the skin. even when a small amount of active material has been applied to the surface of the product, which is also desirable for the economic reasons mentioned above, especially when this amount is less than 3 g / m 2 of product surface.
  • the document WO-A-97/30216 describes a paper product on which the lotion is deposited so that the touch of the product remains dry, that is to say that the lotion is not transferable.
  • WO-A-99/08555 discusses other examples of implementation of a lotion solid at room temperature by preheating above its melting temperature, for example application by rotogravure into deposits spaced on the surface of the product, then solidification of the deposits again of melted lotion.
  • the document WO-A-99/19081 relates to the spray application of a composition to a sheet material (s).
  • this document mentions (page 8, line 2 to page 9, line 8) all the problems and difficulties inherent to the paper's absorbing nature and proposes, as a solution, to abandon the technique of paper-making. spraying using the prior pressurization of a mixture comprising a compressed fluid.
  • the invention proposes a method for depositing at room temperature on a product absorbent paper, especially in cellulose wadding, a softening lotion, liquid at room temperature, of the type comprising one or more emollient active material (s) dispersed or emulsified in a volatile liquid vehicle, in particular in water, so that the proportion by weight of active material (s) in the solution is between 1% and 50%, characterized in that it consists in spraying the lotion by means of a flow of pressurized air so as to vaporize at least a portion of the volatile liquid vehicle to form and spray fine droplets of lotion, the proportion of which in volatile liquid vehicle is reduced, which are deposited on at least one side of the paper product.
  • the spray using a spray or atomizer is intended to disperse the paint, which is a color prepared with a liquid vehicle, in fine droplets which are deposited on the surface to be painted, but without to dry the paint, the presence of almost all the liquid vehicle on the surface of the product to be painted being necessary to obtain a homogeneous layer of paint, especially in thickness, this homogeneity and the final appearance of the resulting paint the formation of a film that is stretched by evaporation of the liquid vehicle during the drying of the paint.
  • the volatile liquid vehicle is partially extracted during the spraying step.
  • an extraction cabin is used to partially extract the vaporized liquid vehicle (water) and eliminate external pollution.
  • the pressure of the sputtering gas is greater than 2 bar, and preferably greater than 4 bar.
  • the proportion by weight of active material (s) in the lotion is between 20% and 50% and more particularly equal to about 30%.
  • the active ingredients are solid or semi-solid emollient components, in particular of the type described in the documents WO-A-97/30216 or WO-A-97/30217 .
  • the liquid vehicle is preferably water, but it can also be another volatile liquid vehicle such as for example alcohols (methanol, ethanol), glycol ethers, etc.
  • the technical control of the process consists in particular in optimizing the different operating parameters of a spraying equipment, in particular the choice of the spray nozzle, the air pressure and the air / lotion proportion, depending on the composition. of the solution. It is also important to adjust the position of the nozzle relative to the paper as well as its orientation and the shape of the jet obtained, ie its width and its "flattening".
  • the installation 10 comprises a frame or frame which carries certain elements and apparatus for carrying out the method for depositing the lotion on a sheet of paper 14.
  • the sheet 14 scrolls continuously along the path indicated by the arrows of the figure so as to traverse the spraying and deposition zone 16 vertically from top to bottom according to the example shown.
  • the spraying means is constituted by a ramp 18 of spray guns 20 which are arranged adjacent to the width of the width of paper.
  • Each gun 20 has a spraying lotion supply inlet 22 which is connected, via a pipe 24, to a lotion tank 26 comprising a mixer 28.
  • a feed pump 30 is interposed between the tank 26 and each gun 20 , the pump being controlled variable flow.
  • Each gun 20 is supplied with atomizing air, with controlled variable pressure, via a pipe 32 connected to an air inlet 34 of the gun, and with control air via a pipe 36 connected to an inlet 38 of the gun 20.
  • the installation 10 comprises booths or extraction boxes 40, arranged at the rear of the width of the paper 14.
  • These extraction boxes 40 are connected to an external fan 42 to create suction and vacuum inside the vicinity of the spray zone 16, the suction being effected through a filter 44.
  • the suction surface delimited by the filter 44 and of vertical orientation is adjacent to the paper which passes vertically through the spray zone 16.
  • the installation 10 also comprises another suction box 46 connected to an external fan 48 and provided with a filter 50 for sucking the lotion which falls vertically without being deposited on the paper 14.
  • the invention also relates to a paper product on at least one side of which an emollient lotion has been applied by means of the process according to the invention, characterized in that the quantity of lotion applied to said face is equal to at least 1.5 g / l. m 2 , preferably at least 2 g / m 2 , and in that the lotion present on said face is easily transferable to the skin of a user of the paper product.
  • Table A relates to a first series of tests carried out on a paper of the "facial" type of depositor having a grammage of 45 g / m 2 " and aiming to perform a theoretical deposit of 2.6 g / m 2 of a lotion in the form of an aqueous dispersion whose viscosity is equal to 380cP and whose density is equal to 180g / 250ml
  • the application of the lotion was carried out on a pilot machine with a width of 42cm wide and a paper speed of 70m / min, the spray nozzle being located 40cm from the sheet of paper This test was carried out without extraction.
  • the lotion used contains 30% by weight of active ingredients.
  • the cookie is a paper without lotion.
  • the amount of water "eliminated” is very important since it is between about 40% and 60% of the total water.
  • Table B relates to a second series of tests carried out under the same conditions but aimed at making a theoretical deposit of 4.0 g / m 2 of the lotion.
  • the third table C below is representative of the quality of distribution of lotion deposits on the surface of the paper to which the lotion has been applied according to the method of the invention.
  • test C1 The last three tests of the table were carried out by the rotors spraying method by successively applying a theoretical amount of lotion equal to 1.0 g / m 2 (test C1), 1.4 g / m 2 (test C2) and 2.6 g / m 2 (test C3).
  • Tests A1 to B5 very clearly show the very great dimensional homogeneity of the deposits and the quasi-uniformity of the distribution of these deposits on the surface, especially if we compare these results with those obtained according to the method of spraying by rotors ( tests C1 to C3).
