Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for producing heat seal packaging by welding, in particular for transdermal therapeutic systems (TTS), and a tool for carrying out the method.
- TTS transdermal therapeutic systems
- two layers of packaging composite materials each consisting of several layers, for example each of a layer of paper, aluminum and weldable plastic, such as HDPE (high density polyethylene), Barex (PAN, Polyacylnitrile) or Surlyn (ethylene copolymer), with their plastic layer lying on top of one another, connected to one another at predetermined edges and / or lines by a heated sealing stamp.
- the sealing stamp is pressed onto the layers to be connected and these are heated to such an extent that under this stamp they exceed the melting temperature of the plastic layers, which thereby melt and form an integral connection with one another.
- This method can also be carried out with heated sealing dies arranged opposite one another, which may have the same or a different temperature, so that the heating of the layers lying one on top of the other is accelerated.
- the temperatures of two sealing stamps can be 200 ° C for a packaging composite with a Barex plastic layer with a melting point of 177 ° C and 200 ° C for a packaging composite with a HDPE plastic layer with a melting point of 138 ° C at the other 70 ° C.
- This welding process can cause bubbles to form due to evaporating moisture in the sealing tool temperature, which is considerably higher than the melting temperature Area of the welding zone (Barex) or for squeezing the molten plastic (HDPE) as a result of the necessary but too high pressure of the sealing tool and also damage to the packaging material, which results in faulty and incomplete welds.
- Barex melting temperature Area of the welding zone
- HDPE molten plastic
- the quality of the weld seams can be improved by lowering the sealing tool temperatures and the sealing tool pressure while increasing the sealing time - the dwell time of the sealing tool on the packaging material.
- the solution according to the invention provides for an increase, that is to say a multiplication of the sealing time due to the cycle.
- doubling is referred to below.
- the term “doubling” also includes other multiples in the sense of the invention.
- the pressure of the sealing tool can also be reduced, which prevents crushing of the melted plastic and also damage to the packaging material.
- the packaging material can be advanced along the predetermined lines in time and during the time in which the subsequent sealing bag packaging is subjected to pressure and temperature for the first time, a second time or more Times with pressure and temperature at the same time.
- a sealing tool which, in the feed direction, has multiple, preferably twice, the same contact surface structure corresponding to the predetermined weld connection lines for placement on the packaging material Has transmission of pressure and temperature.
- the length of a contact surface structure in the feed direction therefore corresponds to the cycle feed, so that the packaging material acted upon by the sealing tool with the first contact surface structure immediately after the cycle feed - and thus essentially without time interruption and cooling - at the same points a second time or more times pressure and pressure is applied, which means a multiplication, in particular a doubling of the sealing time.
- This sealing tool can therefore interact with a second sealing tool with the same contact surface structure, which is arranged or formed on the side of the packaging material facing away from the first sealing tool.
- F G.l a side view of a sealing station
- FIG. 2 a bottom view of a sealing stamp with a contact surface structure
- FIG. 4 the cross section through a welded connection.
- FIG. 1 shows a sealing station which has two sealing stamps 1 and 2, between which two webs 3 and 4 endless packaging material with transdermal therapeutic systems (TTS) 5 loosely inserted between them at regular intervals and at a distance from the web edges for formation of sealed pouch packaging for these are passed through in time.
- the sealing stamps 1 and 2 are heated (not shown) and are pressed against each other during a feed break.
- the packaging material is formed from a layer of paper 6, an aluminum layer 7 and a layer 8 of a weldable plastic, the two webs 3 and 4 with the plastic layers being arranged facing the TTS 5 and towards one another (also FIG. 4).
- FIG. 2 shows the side of the sealing stamps 1 and 2 facing the packaging material, with the contact surfaces 9 formed thereon. These can be cross-corrugated to enlarge the surface.
- the two sealing stamps 1 and 2 are pressed apart, cavities are formed between the contact surfaces, in each of which the areas with the TTS 5 to be packaged come to an arrangement during a feed break.
- the packaging material (3, 4) with the stored TTS 5 is transported in cycles through the sealing station in order to produce sealed sealing bag packages. During a feed break, the two sealing stamps 1 and 2 are pressed against each other. Their temperature is selected depending on the melting temperature of the plastic used in the packaging material and, as the following examples show, can also be different.
- the temperature is applied by the sealing stamps 1 and 2 and the heat is transferred to the plastic layers.
- the plastic is melted and a cohesive connection is established between the plastic layers. Since the temperature reached on the plastic layers is only slightly above the melting temperature of the plastic due to the temperature on the sealing tools 1 and 2, the welded connection is weak and possibly defective.
- the sealing time is now doubled by pressing the welded parts that are still heated immediately after the next cycle same temperature and for the same period of time.
- FIG. 3a and 3b illustrate the process.
- the sealing bag packaging I to be produced in relation to the direction of advance, is in the rear position between the sealing stamps 1 and 2.
- the front edge of the seal is shown in broken lines.
- the packaging material (3, 4) is advanced, and the sealing bag packaging I to be produced reaches the front position and is again at the same temperature and pressure acted upon by the same seal stamp.
- the sealed bag packaging 0 has only been subjected to temperature once and is discarded.
- the sealed bag packaging II to be produced follows the first (I) and is also acted on twice directly in succession, which means a doubling of the sealing time. The cycle time remains the same.

Description
FIG.4 : den Querschnitt durch eine Schweißverbindung.
