Method of producing a frame from a plurality of frame bars (10); having a frame insert (12), wherein the frame bars (10) are mutually connected at their ends and the frame insert (12) is installed between the frame bars (10), for the purpose of producing a frame, in particular a sidewall frame for pallets, wherein the frame bars (10) delimit a frame plane (11), in which is disposed the frame insert (12) which is attached to the frame bars (10) and can be loaded transversely with respect to the frame plane (11'), characterised in that the frame insert (12) is pushed in between the frame bars (10) by overcoming pressing-in forces directed transversely with respect to the frame plane and in so doing said frame insert is interlocked in a positive manner into a latching recess (13) of at least one frame bar (10) transversely with respect to the frame plane (11'), wherein the frame insert (12) is supported in a direction opposite its insertion direction (ER) by the frame to prevent it being pushed through, and wherein a wall (16), which comprises the latching recess (13), of one of the frame bars (10) forms an acute angle (α) with the insertion direction (ER) of the frame insert and/or wherein a frame bar (10) which is formed as a hollow profile, is provided on a frame bar wall (16), which faces a parallel frame bar (10), with a latching recess (13), into which engages an insert edge (14) of an angle-bent part (15) of a thin plate forming the frame insert (12), and said frame bar is provided with a support projection (22) which engages behind the frame insert.
