Definitions
- the present invention relates generally to a process for purifying sugary juices, in particular sugary juices from sugar beets, which allows a very significant reduction in the lime consumption, up to 70% of the consumption of lime from current treatment plants, with juice quality clear equivalent.
- the present invention therefore relates to a purification process a sweet juice allowing a lower consumption of lime as well as device for implementing this method.
- the present invention also relates to a method purification of a sweet juice improving the filtration capacity of first and second carbonation and improving the color index of final clear juice for a given consumption of lime.
- the method of the invention can be implemented in existing treatment plants by means of a minor extension existing installations and without modification of the lime production, pumping carbon dioxide and raw carbonation and second carbonation.
- the main sequence of process treatments after the first treatment carbonation successively, a separation treatment of the sweet juice cloudiness obtained after this first carbonation treatment to separate a first main clear juice and first sludge carbonation and possibly a sulfitation treatment of the first main clear juice before second treatment carbonation.
- Some or all of the first sludge carbonation are generally recycled to the pre-liming stage of the pre-purification sequence.
- the fraction of the first sludge possibly non-recycled carbonation is mixed with the sludge from pre-purification before filtration.
- the cloudy second carbonation juice is also usually subjected to separation treatment to separate a second main clear juice and second carbonation sludge.
- the second clear juice can be subjected to a decalcification treatment and optionally to sulfitation and addition of sodium bisulfite before being subjected to an evaporation treatment.
- Some or all of the second carbonation sludge is recycled at the pre-liming stage of the pre-purification sequence.
- the fraction of second carbonation sludge possibly not recycled is mixed with the pre-purification sludge before filtration.
- a purification installation has been represented according to the invention which comprises a main set of processing units A and a set of pre-purification units B, according to the invention.
- the main assembly A successively comprises a unit of liming 1, a maturing unit 3, a first carbonation unit 4, a separation unit 5, 5 ′ of a first main clear juice JC1 and of first carbonation sludge, a second carbonation unit 6 and a separation unit 7, 7 'of a second main clear juice JC2 and of sludge of second carbonation.
- a heater 2 can be arranged between the liming unit 1 and the maturing unit 3 to heat the juice limed before being introduced into the maturing unit 3.
- a sulfitation unit (not shown) can be provided after the separation unit 5, 5 'for the treatment of the first main clear juice JC1 and / or after the separation unit 7, 7 'for the treatment of the second main clear juice JC2.
- the main assembly which has just been described constitutes in performs a conventional purification installation for sugary juices such as beets.
- the limed juice is generally reheated (by means of the heater 2) to a temperature of the order of 83-85 ° C and sent to a maturation unit 3 then to a first carbonation unit 4 where it is mixed with CO 2 from a lime kiln.
- the first cloudy juice JT1 coming from the first carbonation unit 4 is then brought into a separation unit 5, 5 ′ comprising for example thickening filters or decanters to separate a first clear juice JC1 and sludge of first carbonation.
- the clear juice JC1 is then reheated to a temperature of the order of 92-95 ° C and introduced in one second unit carbonation 6 where it is again treated with carbon dioxide and undergoes additional carbonation up to a pH of 9 to 9.3 in general.
- the cloudy second carbonation JT2 juice is then sent to a separation unit 7, 7 ', generally similar to the previous one where separates a second clear JC2 juice from the second carbonation sludge.
- JC2 clear juice can then undergo various conventional operations such as sulfitation (SO 2 treatment), decalcification and the addition of sodium bisulfite before passing through a multiple evaporation unit (not shown) to be crystallized.
- the sulfitations of clear juices JC1 and JC2 or the addition of sodium bisulfite are intended to provide discoloration complementary to the final juice.
- the installation further comprises a set of pre-treatment B which includes a pre-liming unit 8, a coagulation 10, a decanting unit 11, in which the sweetened juice to be purified is treated before being sent to the main assembly A and subjected to the main sequence of treatments.
- a set of pre-treatment B which includes a pre-liming unit 8, a coagulation 10, a decanting unit 11, in which the sweetened juice to be purified is treated before being sent to the main assembly A and subjected to the main sequence of treatments.
- all of the sweet juice to be purified for example a sweet diffusion juice is introduced into the pre-liming unit 8 where the sweet juice to be purified is mixed with all or a fraction of the sludge from first and second carbonation from the main sequence of treatments and possibly a small amount of lime milk.
- the residence time in the pre-liming unit 8 is between 2 'and 30', usually about 20 minutes and the processing temperature is generally between 40 to 80 ° C, preferably 68 to 75 ° C.
- the amount of lime milk possibly used corresponds to a equivalent amount of 0 to 3g / liter of CaO.
- the pre-limed mixture from the pre-liming unit 8 is then routed, possibly after reheating in a heater 9 to one temperature of 78 ° C or more, usually about 80 ° C to 83 ° C, in a coagulation unit 10 where it is mixed with a coagulation agent.
- the amount of coagulation agent generally used is 2 to 5 ppm / liter.
- the coagulation time is generally between 5 and 30 minutes, preferably about 10 to 15 minutes.
- the coagulated juice in the coagulation unit 10 is then routed, supplemented with a flocculating agent, generally in one amount from 2 to 5 ppm / liter, up to a settling unit 11 where separates a clear juice from pre-treatment JCs and secondary sludge.
- the residence time in the settling unit 11 is generally of the order 20 to 30 minutes.
- the clear juice of pre-purification JCs is then brought into the liming unit 1 of the main assembly A with a view to being subjected to the main sequence of treatments, as described above.
- the pre-treatment sludge possibly mixed with a non-recycled fraction of the first and second sludge carbonation are conveyed from the settling unit 11 to a separation unit 12, for example a filter press, for filtration and sugaring with obtaining on the one hand of sugared scum and on the other hand of a filtrate generally recycled with the clear juice of pre-purification JCs from the settling unit 11.
- a separation unit 12 for example a filter press
- the secondary pre-purification unit B can be carried out without modification of lime production and gas pumping installations CO2 and first and second carbonation units.
- the purification process and installation according to the invention further improve the filterability of cloudy juices first and second carbonation and the color index of the clear juice of second carbonation for a given lime consumption.
- the method makes it possible to obtain the same overall efficiency. treatment treatment than the conventional process (purity and coloring of clear juice of second carbonation).
- this process according to the invention reduces discharges such as first carbonation scum (10 to 25 kg less per tonne of beet processed) and therefore of CO 2 released into the atmosphere.
- the loss of sugar in the scum is reduced in the same proportion than the amount of scum.
