Description

  • The present invention relates to a plate with engagement selvages for bolts of casements such as doors and windows.
  • Closure devices are known for keeping closed the leaves of doors and windows which comprise bolts which can slide in the abutment posts of the leaves and which, by means of a mechanism actuated by a handle, engage in selvages of plates which are fixed to the upper and lower rails of the frame of the door or window. Owing to the enormous variety of the profiles with which the frames are produced, the plates currently in use have a specific shape for each type of profile, so as to allow alignment of the selvages with the bolts.
  • The aim of the present invention is to provide a plate with selvages provided with adjustment means which allow to fix it to frames composed by means of profiles having various cross-sections and to position it with respect to the bolts.
  • Within this aim, an object of the present invention is to provide a plate with selvages which has a simple structure, is relatively easy to apply and has a relatively modest cost.
  • These and other objects which will become better apparent hereinafter, are achieved by the present plate with engagement selvages for the bolts of leaves of doors and windows, said plate being mountable in a channel of profiles which form rails of a frame of a door or window, said channel being formed by two parallel ridges which form said channel and from the top of which two lips protrude toward each other, said lips forming two undercuts, characterized in that it comprises two sliding blocks which can be arranged along said channel, two lateral selvages being arranged to the sides of a central selvage of said plate, said lateral selvages being meant for the engagement of a bolt of a fixed leaf and said central selvage being meant for the engagement of a bolt of a movable leaf of said door or window, two slots being formed at the ends of said plate, said slots being perpendicular to said channel and acting as a guide for said sliding blocks transversely to said channel, said slots being crossed by two screws for fixing said plate along said channel.
  • Further characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become better apparent from the detailed description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of a plate for the engagement of two bolts for fixing two leaves of a window, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
  • Figure 1 is an exploded perspective view of the plate according to the invention;
  • Figure 2 is a transverse sectional view of the plate.
  • With reference to the above figures, the reference numeral 1 generally designates a plate which is preset to be fixed to the upper or lower rail of the frame of a door or window with two leaves. In the following description, the rail is assumed to be constituted by a conventional light alloy profile which has, on its inner face, two parallel ridges 9a which form a channel 9 and from which two lips 9b protrude toward each other, forming respective undercuts.
  • The plate 1 has two lateral selvages 2 and 3 which are arranged to the sides of a central selvage 4. The lateral selvages are designed for the engagement of a bolt of a fixed leaf of the window, while the central selvage 4 is meant for the engagement of a bolt of the movable leaf of the window.
  • Two slots 7 and 8 are formed between the lateral ends 5 and 6 of the plate and the lateral selvages 2 and 3, are perpendicular to the channel 9 and are provided with perimetric flared regions 11 for receiving the heads of two screws 10 for connecting the plate 1 in the channel 9. For this purpose, the screws 10 engage threaded holes 12 and 13 which are formed in two tangs 14 and 15 which are part of two sliding blocks 16 and 17. More specifically, the sliding blocks 16 and 17 also comprise, in addition to the tangs 14 and 15, flanges 18 and 19 which have a substantially rectangular shape, with two diagonally opposite corners 20 which are rounded, the holes 12 and 13 being the centers of the rounded portions. The shorter side of the flanges 18 and 19 is shorter than the distance between the edges of the lips 9b, while the longer side is longer than the distance between the edges of the lips 9b but is shorter than the distance between the ridges 9a.
  • The tangs 14 and 15 protrude from the channel 9 in order to engage in two grooves 21 which are formed parallel to, and at, the slots 7 and 8 so as to allow to arrange the plate 1 on the tangs and then tighten the through screws 10.
  • Mounting the plate is intuitive and can be summarized as follows. The sliding blocks 16 and 17, appropriately oriented so that their longer side is parallel to the lips 9b, are inserted in the channel 9 and turned through 90°, so that their shorter sides lie under the lips.
  • The plate 1 is then arranged on the tangs 14 and 15 of the two sliding blocks 16 and 17 at the slots 20 and the fixing screws 10 and 11 are screwed into the holes 12, 13 through the slots 7 and 8, so as to clamp the lips 9b between the flanges 18, 19 and the plate 1. It should be noted that the length of the flanges 18 and 19 (which is greater than the distance between the edges of the lips 9b and smaller than the distance between the ridges 9a) prevents the sliding blocks 16 and 17 from rotating, so as to ensure both tightening and loosening of the screws 10.
  • The fundamental prerogative of the plate 1 is that its position can be adjusted both along the channel 9, by acting on the screws 10, and at right angles to the channel 9, so as to align the selvages 2, 3 and 4 with the bolts.
  • The disclosures in Italian Utility Model Application No. BO99U000079 from which this application claims priority are incorporated herein by reference.
  • Where technical features mentioned in any claim are followed by reference signs, those reference signs have been included for the sole purpose of increasing the intelligibility of the claims and accordingly such reference signs do not have any limiting effect on the scope of each element identified by way of example by such reference signs.
