Definitions
- the present invention relates to the general field of apparatus to ensure the rest of the human body and relates more specifically to a new suspension device usable more specifically for the realization box springs, mattresses, on which the person rests in a lying position but which, possibly, could also be used for the realization seats, armchairs in particular.
- assemblies which generally include a suspension device ensuring comfort for the user and able to match the body shape of this last.
- the most commonly proposed solutions consist in performing a sleeping surface whose structure is such that it can deform under the action of a force generated by the mass of the human body.
- This deformation is calculated to have a damping amplitude which is located in the elastic zone of the "active element", that is to say when the load or force will no longer be applied, it will return to its so-called initial position "Rest position".
- the position in load is a function of the applied stress, which results not only from the mass of the user, but also of the position of the body relative to the active element as well as the resistance to deformation of said active element.
- the main active elements used to date are metal springs (helical, biconical, or in the form of a trellis) as well as slat systems wooden or synthetic materials.
- the operating principle implemented in such a solution is based on the elastic elongation of the belt or strap which, preferably, is also attached to the frame thanks to an elastic element in itself, such as fabric or spring.
- the damping length therefore varies depending on the load supported and in proportion to the latter.
- the total length of the active element between its two fixing points is, according to the invention, determined to have a length greater than one value between 0.5 and 2% compared to the actual length of the path between said attachment points.
- the device of suspension comprises two pairs of parallel axes supporting the pulleys of reference, arranged in two horizontal planes spaced from each other, the plane formed by the two upper axes forming the active rest plane.
- the active rest plan is, as previously, defined between a pair of parallel axes supporting the pulleys and a third axis, also equipped with pulleys arranged at a lower level compared to the plane of rest, and this in the vertical plane of symmetry with respect to the axes defining said rest plan.
- the active element can be constituted by a flexible non-elastic band, connected directly to two angles diagonally opposite, the length of depreciation being given by the excess length relative to the minimum length to describe the path around the pulleys between said fixing angles.
- This flexible, non-stretchable band may consist of a strap or strap which may have external faces having characteristics different, for example being smooth on one side and presenting on its other side a high coefficient of friction able to rotate the pulleys.
- Such an active element can also be connected to the frame by a so-called assembly "Displacement limitation system” consisting of an additional strip, also not stretchable, allowing a slightly longer length to the minimum length necessary to describe the path around the pulleys, the additional strap possibly associated with a return spring, mounted in parallel and which, when the assembly is not used, makes it possible to avoid sagging of the active rest plan.
- assembly Dislacement limitation system
- the active element according to the invention is also constituted by a strap or strap which comprises, at one of its zones fixing means for adjusting its length, and consequently the length damping, said means being constituted for example by a turnbuckle.
- suspension device according to the invention can contain either a single active element or, optionally, several active elements.
- the return pulleys can be generally cylindrical, according to a preferred embodiment, they will be slightly conical in shape, the slope being reversed from one set of pulleys to the opposite set, so as to facilitate the positioning of the active element (s) (straps, belts) and avoid its (or their) deterioration.
- Figures 1, 2 and 3 therefore schematically illustrate the structure and way in which a device according to the invention operates to achieve a box spring as illustrated in Figure 4, Figure 1 illustrating the device in position initial or at rest and Figures 2 and 3 the amplitude of damping as a function of the shape of the load as well as its position.
- the suspension device according to the invention is therefore constituted by a frame or frame (5) of form general rectangular.
- Each axis (1,2,3,4) supports, along its length, a plurality of pulleys, at number of nine for each axis in this case, and which are mounted free in rotation along the length of said axes.
- pulleys are offset along the length of the axes (2,3) relative to the axes (1,4) as shown in Figure 4, and are separated from each other by spacers.
- Figures 1, 2 and 3 are not to scale and the spacing between the series of pulleys (1,2) and (3,4) corresponds to the width of a mattress, in the case where the device according to the invention is intended to constitute a box spring, then that their spacing in the vertical direction is reduced to a distance of the order from 10 to 20 cm.
- the active system (6) therefore consists of a flexible, non-stretchable material, such as for example a belt or strap.
- This active system is fixed in a corner of the frame and is therefore rolled up helical around successive pulleys to be fixed directly or indirectly in the angle diagonally opposite the first attachment point.
- the length of the active element (6) is such that it is greater by around 0.5 to 2% of the total path length to surround all the pulleys of the system.
- the active element (6) when the assembly is not in use, it is not stretched around the pulleys and presents therefore a "slack".
- Figure 1 shows the device in the initial position or at rest.
- the active system (6) is attached to one end to the frame while the other end ends in a loop (8).
- the active system is therefore guided by all the pulleys it surrounds.
- the reminder system (7) forces the active element (6) which is made of a flexible material to be stretched.
- the arrangement of return pulleys allows to form through the element active (6) plans that will likely support the human body.
- Figures 2 and 3 show how the conforming device works to the invention under the action of a load, whose force generated by the mass is greater than the value of the force of the return system (7) which, as said previously, is not essential.
- the active element constituted by the belt or strip (6) therefore moves around the movable pulleys to absorb said load.
- the active element will stretch to reach the position as as illustrated in Figures 3 and 4 and will stretch until it is in position of static equilibrium.
- one of the important points of the compliant device to the invention resides in the fact that the active element (6) is produced so that that its resistance to elongation is high and, ideally, it would be advisable that the elongation is zero for the maximum load that the device supports.
- the damping length is therefore determined by the stroke authorized by the excess length of the active element compared to the total length of the path between the two fixing points on the frame passing around the deflection pulleys which are therefore arranged in two parallel planes spaced from each other, the plane superior defining the rest plan.
- the damping length is therefore determined by the stroke authorized by the displacement of the active element constituted by the additional belt strip (9).
- the depreciation length is completely independent of the load when the force generated by the mass of the latter is greater than the force of the return system (7) if the latter exists.
- the device according to the invention reacts in the same way way if the load exerts forces distributed on several planes, for example plane horizontal defined by axes (23) and (14), and the vertical plane defined by axes (14) and (32).
- the active element adapts to the shape of the load and not to the value of the force it generates.
- Figure 4 illustrates a top view of the use of such a suspension device for the realization of a box spring.
- This box spring therefore consists of a frame constituted by two crosspieces transverse (85) and (86) as well as by two beams (83) and (84).
- This frame serves as a support for two pairs of parallel axes, superimposed, such as illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 3, only the axes (1) and (2) being visible in FIG. 4.
- a series of pulleys and spacers is mounted alternately on each axis. nine for each axis in the example shown.
- pulleys are listed from 10 to 45 and the spacers from 47 to 72.
- the dimension of the spacers and pulleys is calculated so that it is distributed offset on the active plane as shown in Figure 4.
- the active element therefore consists of a flat belt (6), for example in synthetic material such as a woven high tenacity polyester strap.
- This belt has surface coatings so that the face in contact with pulleys has a high coefficient of adhesion, the face in contact with the mattress being smooth.
- the length of this strap is greater than the length of the path connecting the two points of the frame with which each end of the strap is associated.
- the length of the actual path going from an angle of the frame and helically surrounding each pulley to connect the angle opposite is 25 m, the length of the belt used for the implementation of the invention being 25.3m, that is to say 1.2% higher.
- one of the ends of the strap is therefore fixed in a corner of the frame, successively surrounds all the pulleys forming a helix around the latter, its end (8) possibly being directly fixed in the diagonally opposite corner.
- the end (8) ends in the form a loop and is extended by a strap (9) called “strap limiting limitation displacement ”.
- a return spring (7) also connects the loop (8) to the corner and this, essentially so that the active element (6) is kept flat when the set is not used.
- this flat belt (6) is arranged around all the pulleys in a helical manner.
- the return force of this spring must be negligible compared to the force generated by the mass of the charge.
- This equilibrium position is found when the assembly includes a strap displacement limiter (9) when the latter is subjected to the same tension that the flat belt (6), or, if there are no such limiting straps (9) and that the end of the strap (6) is fixed directly to the frame by the surplus of length from path from corner of box spring to corner diagonally opposite when passing around the pulleys.
- This depreciation length is therefore distributed over all nine parts of the belt lying in the active plane, according to the needs of the load applied to each of its parts of belts.
- the belt is subjected to a single tension, therefore identical in all respects, which allows the load to be distributed over the entire plane active, regardless of the load homogeneity.
- the assembly comprises two pairs of axes (1) and (2) provided with deflection pulleys, defining the active plane horizontal formed by the belt (6) and a third return axis (100) is provided substantially in the vertical plane of symmetry below axes (1) and (2) cited above.
- Such a device operates in a similar manner to that seen above.
- the junction of the end (8) of the belt with the frame is produced by means of a rigid element (101) of the type "Turnbuckle", thus making it possible to adjust the excess length of the active element (6) relative to that going from a fixing point located at an angle to that of the diagonally opposite angle and surrounding the pulleys.
- the pulleys which are mounted on the lower shaft (100) are not separated by spacers, their longitudinal position being determined by the tension of the belt (6) under load.
- the grooves of the pulleys are slightly tapered and are inverted from the axis (1) relative to the axis (2) so that the grooves pulleys are perpendicular to the axis of the strap which is wound helically around said pulleys.
- the device according to the invention has many advantages by the fact that if we consider that the same body human can take a multitude of positions in a night's sleep, a bed base comprising a suspension device produced in accordance with the invention will automatically adapt to each position.
- such a device is completely independent of the value of the force generated by the charge.
