- These networks 138.1 to 138.m use the target sensor data x and the outputs of the "hypothesis" networks 136.1 to 136.n.
- the networks 138.1 to 138.m check how the different "hypotheses" match the actually observed sensor data and from that estimate the target state vector x T in real time.
- the networks 138.1 to 138.m are off-line trained with the data of an SDRE or extended Kalman filter design.
- the outputs of the networks 138.1 to 138.m are supplied to an inferring unit 140.
- the inferring unit 140 is designed as a fuzzy-neural network in order to be able to consider important heuristic knowledge in the form of linguistic rules for the inference process.
- the inference unit correlates the information and makes a conclusion regarding the best available estimate of the state vector x T of the target. This estimated value is then made available for further processing for the steering as an output variable.

Usually, before the launch, individual records, e.g. the Position of the aircraft or an instruction of the missile to a specific destination transmitted via an "umbilical cord" to the missile. Another collaboration between the aircraft and the missile does not take place.
From DE 197 16 025 A1 is further known, in one of an aircraft targeting missile to be shot, a "missile mission unit" provided. Airplane and one or more missiles thus form a much more efficient system compared to the prior art for the steering, navigation and regulation of the missile.
The term "aircraft" is here also unmanned possibly autonomously operating Include carriers of targeting missiles.
For the integration of the systems, the aircraft-side sensor and Signal processing means and the missile side sensor and Signal processing means via an interface in the boot device with each other in Data exchange. But it can also alternatively or additionally the aircraft-side sensor and signal processing means and the missile side Sensor and signal processing means via wireless data transmission means ("Data Link ") are in communication with each other.
Fig.2 zeigt die hierarchische Kontrollstruktur in der Anordnung von Fig. 1.FIG. 2 shows the hierarchical control structure in the arrangement of FIG. 1.

For this purpose, the mission control unit performs besides missile and I / O management in particular the functions of data and sensor fusion as well as the situational planning and decision-making processes. By overlaying all available information and data (sensors, data-link) becomes a situation vector generates and from the extraction of relevant features (feature vector) performed. This is followed by a target identification and classification. This is the Missile / target situation in the scenario can be represented globally (situation awareness (SITAW)). With this information, the decision-making and planning process takes place.
Anpassung an Umweltbedingungen. The essential tasks of these functions are thus summarized: Distinguish whether the information provided by the seeker is of real goals or from decoys, intelligent target selection for multiple targets with and without allocations via the data link, web optimization to minimize the flight time, Increasing the range and better suppression of interferers and control the seeker sensors for interference suppression or adaptation to environmental conditions.
The execution of this task is done on the basis of the output information of the "Data- & Sensor Fusion" and the Inertial / GPS integration calculation. For use come in addition to proven classic and novel knowledge-based methods that using genetic models to make decisions about target and disturber behavior. Output data of the decision and planning function are the commands for the Steering computer and the sensor control.
Missiles belong to the class of nonlinear, time-variant, multivariable, dynamic systems. The disturbances acting on them are largely unknown and time variable. In particular, in phases large incidence occur in addition to the Changes in the missile mass and the moment of inertia considerable Changes in nonlinear aerodynamics during use.
Of particular importance is the function of the autopilot for far-reaching Missile due to the ramjet to. This concerns, on the one hand, the regulation the airspeed in the march phase over the thrust of the engine. there There are a number of limitations to be considered in its operating range. These depend on the flow angle, altitude, flow velocity and fuel flow rate.
On the other hand, in connection with the ramjet engine different Investigated strategies for controlling the autopilot, namely "skid-to-turn", "bank-to-turn" and "Twist-To-Track".
Missiles against fast maneuvering targets must be in view of the endgame be highly agile. The required high lateral accelerations require at a Bank-to-turn strategy a fast rolling motion of the missile. The case occurring high roll rates cause extremely strong couplings between the roll channel and the lateral channels and make high demands on the autopilot.
High lateral accelerations also go with large angles and sliding angles This not only leads to shear losses from certain limits, but Have the ramjet engine completely extinguished. To prevent this, the bank-to-turn Control both the restrictive sliding angle limits and an im Keep the angle of attack asymmetrically permissible.
The design of Bank-To-Turn autopilots must be done in an environment that considered all six degrees of freedom. The corresponding aerodynamics must to To be available. Furthermore, all components of the sensors and actuators within the autopilot loop (e.g., inertial measuring unit, Engine, rudder control system).
The interaction of the autopilot in conjunction with the steering must be based on the validated simulation program with six degrees of freedom. Is that lying Structure of the autopilot fixed, can with the generation of operational algorithms to be started.
The required models and data on aerodynamics, missiles, sensors and Actuator and the requirements of the autopilot loop are input variables for the problem definition and as such must be precisely defined. The same applies to the operational software.
The steering of autonomous missiles requires the knowledge of essential parameters of the Relative kinematics between missile and target. This includes in particular the direction and the intertial spin rate of the line of sight. Steering methods based thereon belong the class of widely used proportional navigation methods.
The power of the steering, in particular the size of the shot areas and the "No-escape zone" as well as the hit filing can be improved if additional Information about the distance, the approach speed and the Target maneuvers are available. Steering methods based on the complete State vector of relative kinematics fall back, can be defined on a Quality criterion as "optimal guidance" (Optimum Guidance) are designed. In the Usually this information is not available or not with the necessary accuracy Available, so that in practice solutions are often used in some form of initial information on the encounter situation and / or Consider information about the self-propelled state of the missile in order to achieve this Steering law to adapt to the current encounter situation. In addition, the Measures with the greatest success not necessarily by a straightforward design accessible, rather, the necessary strategies in lengthy simulations be determined.
On the other hand, powerful optimization algorithms are available today Available to numerically solve non-linear control problems. With the optimal Control is the expert knowledge for optimal steering, with the help knowledge-based information processing into a continuous steering law can be converted and implemented in real time.
The approach taken so far to the design of autopilot and steering law follows the conventional, sequential approach: first, the autopilot is designed. This is an "inner loop". Then the steering law is determined. That represents one This is shown in Figure 3 as a block diagram.
Sensorsystem 82.In FIG. 3, a

The estimated value x and acts on the flight guidance, which is represented by a
In contrast to this conventional realizations can also new technologies which are the use of nonlinear autopilots and Steering laws with knowledge-based elements and thus pave the way to Learning Guidance and Control (LGC) open.
It is precisely this new, knowledge acquisition and processing possible Information technologies provide the basis for a novel integrated simultaneous Design of autopilot and steering law. This creates the possibility of couplings between regulation and steering to further increase agility introduce a substantial step towards the use of the full Maneuverability potential of the missile to do. The result is an integrated, learning flight guidance and control (Integrated Leaming Guidance and Control (ILGC) "), with a functional assignment of the elements changed with respect to FIG. 3 the steering and control loop, as shown in simplified form in Figure 4. After that are the missile dynamics and the relative geometry to the process to be controlled summarized, the target dynamics is considered as a stochastic disturbance; of course with the possibility of modeling. The regulator is integrated by the Function formed from autopilot and steering law and acts directly on the actuators of the Missile.
In Figure 4 corresponding parts are provided with the same reference numerals as in Figure 3.
In contrast to Figure 3 form in Figure 4, the
One approach to the integration of regulation and governance may be that the Structure (neuro, fuzzy, neuro-fuzzy) is given for that element. This is followed by an optimization of the parameters of this structure and possibly also the Structure itself using genetic or evolutionary algorithms. It can do so be proceeded that first a control function in the linear areas of Route is optimized and this under gradual extension to the nonlinear Field of application is expanded. Subsequently, this process is similarly for the steering performed.
The result of the genetic optimization of a neural network for the identification of the Dynamics of a missile is shown in Figure 5 as an example of the performance of this Method shown.
Die "Kinder" sind Zustände des neuronalen Netzes 102.In Figure 5, the missile dynamics is symbolized by
A target may be represented by a state vector x T which evolves over time following a non-linear equation of state x T = f ( x T , w ) and which is measurable by the sensor system 82 (viewfinder) by a non-linear relationship, e.g. = g ( x T , v ) is related; where w and v are random system or measurement noise processes.
By linearizing the above-mentioned relationships and assuming normally distributed white or colored noise processes for w and v , an estimate x T and the associated covariance of the estimation error can be calculated with the aid of Kalman filters.
Problems of this approach lie in the necessary initialization of the Kalman filter ( x T (0)) and in the fact that in a pure IR sensor the measurable information is insufficient for an estimation of the target state vector. Therefore, in IR missiles predominantly dispensed with the target modeling and directed in proportion to the line of sight and its temporal change.
One way to remedy this is initially in the passive extraction of Initialization information (e.g., missile target distance) by processing Line of sight information of several missiles before the launch. This can also be done in IR missiles, a target modeling u.U. be reasonable, taking the estimate but reduced to a pure prediction. This can in turn be improved be that in the target model states are included, the maneuverability of the Describe goal (analytical knowledge about the target kinematics). It is basically conceivable to introduce such an estimator / predictor for each potential goal. Of the However, the associated computational effort is considerable and stands in real time Implementation contrary. Future IR viewers will see a laser component realizable. This would be a distance information available, but because of limited range of the laser probably only in the final approach.
In addition, methods are being used to work with imaging IR viewfinders To determine changes in the distance. For long-range missiles is on the Radar search component available (active) distance information.
The step towards an extended target model is particularly interesting when In addition to the aforementioned measures a seeker head with multi-sensor technology used becomes. Such seekers will be in the face of anticipated advanced goals their countermeasures necessary.
The purpose of the extended target modeling is to improve the LGC and / or ILGC be achieved by providing relevant available knowledge about potential goals in real time is being used. This knowledge includes e.g. a priori knowledge about the target behavior that is manifested in linguistic rules or in the knowledge of maneuverability. This knowledge will generally be sparse. Nevertheless, also appears the use of this knowledge makes sense, e.g. in a first solution Multiple hypotheses about target maneuvers and movement are set up and online Use of the knowledge-based elements considered here.
A conceptual design of such an extended target model is shown in FIG shown.
The extended target model is represented by a
In these neural networks are information about various possible Dodge maneuvers of a potential target saved. This information is based on prior knowledge of the properties of the target. They are generally knowledgeable available about which evasive maneuvers a particular "enemy" plane or can execute various such aircraft when approaching a missile and usually run. These evasive maneuvers are called "hypotheses" in the neural networks 136.1 to 136.n stored. For this purpose, the Networks with an analysis of the results of optimal avoidance maneuvers of the target trained.
With 138.1 to 138.m neural networks are designated, which are designed in the next higher level as non-linear filters and predictors. The outputs of all neural networks 136.1 to 136.n are applied to all neural networks 138.1 to 138.m. These networks 138.1 to 138.m use the target sensor data x and the outputs of the "hypothesis" networks 136.1 to 136.n. The networks 138.1 to 138.m check how the different "hypotheses" match the actually observed sensor data and from that estimate the target state vector x T in real time. The networks 138.1 to 138.m are off-line trained with the data of an SDRE or extended Kalman filter design.
The outputs of the networks 138.1 to 138.m are supplied to an

With this capability, it is possible to study missile dynamics as a function of Autonomous and on-line change of flight status.
Bias Ruder Stellsystemen. Thus, e.g. in the final approach in favor of a higher maneuverability up to the Limits of stability are gone, possibly under abandonment of the aerodynamic Stability in a suitably configured missile. In addition allows this ability to implement a car reconfiguration of the steering and Control in case of subsystem errors, e.g. Bias rudder control systems.
The embodiment described here with reference to FIGS. 4 to 7 Flight mastering and control with adaptive structures is also by itself, i. E. without the in 1 described integration of the systems of aircraft and missile applicable.
