Definitions
- the invention relates to a method of manufacturing a film. having a synthetic face, called external face, intended to be exposed at sight and a sign or pattern, preventing reproduction by optical reading, visible on the side of this external face.
- the invention also extends to such a film, to a protection transfer comprising such a film, to a protection method of document or other material using such film or transfer, and to a document thus protected with such a film.
- EP-A-0.429.782 describes microstructures such as holograms on printed banknotes. To get these microstructures, we use an embossed security profile with a certain number of lines of embossing in recess and / or in relief and flat intermediate spaces. We insert by embossing the security profile after application on the ticket of a sheet with safety microstructure. It should be noted that all facets defined by the embossing lines have the same state of gloss.
- microstructures The purpose of these microstructures is to fight against falsifications, and not to avoid reproduction by optical reading. In addition, the manufacturing these microstructures is delicate and expensive.
- the invention therefore aims to overcome these drawbacks by proposing a more efficient method of protecting documents against duplication by optical reading.
- the invention also aims to propose such a method which is simple, inexpensive and does not complicate the manufacture of the print medium or that of the document itself.
- the invention relates to a protection method of a document surface against reproduction by optical reading, characterized in what is irreversibly applied to this surface at least one film having an imprint formed in a hollow in one face, called the external face, exposed to view, of a layer of synthetic material of the film, this imprint having a state of surface brighter than the rest of said external face, this imprint forming a sign or motif exposed to sight preventing reproduction by optical reading of the document.
- the film is applied so irreversible ", the fact that the film can no longer be separated from the document, unless damage or destroy the film and / or document.
- an imprint one or several marks, joined or disjoined, of any shape, recessed (s).
- This imprint forms a sign (which can in particular be a character, and / or a group of characters, and / or a letter, and / or a group of letters, and / or a word, and / or a group of words, and / or a drawing, and / or a group of drawings, and / or a combination of these signs) or a pattern. that is to say several repeated signs. regularly or not.
- a surface is said to be shiny when it has a brightness in white light at 85 degrees (angle of incidence of the light), for example measured with a BYK GARDNER glossmeter, greater than 50 %; a surface is said to be non-shiny when it exhibits a shine in light white at 85 degrees less than 50%; a surface is said to be mat when it has a brightness in white light at 85 degrees less than 30%.
- the shine is related to the surface condition. So a surface is brighter when its surface finish is less rough. The shine or dullness of a surface can therefore also be evaluated by roughness measurements.
- the film is applied to the document surface through an adhesive.
- a film formed of a plurality of layers is used, the layer having said outer face being a layer of mat polyurethane provided with an imprint formed in hollow and having a shiny surface finish.
- the invention also aims to propose means of implementation work of this protection process, namely a film suitable for use in this protection method, transfer of protection, and method of manufacturing a such a film and such a transfer of protection.
- transfer means a product comprising at least one film and one support sheet, and which is adapted to allow applying the film to a document surface to be protected, the film being transferred of the backing sheet on the surface of the document by contact and activation of an adhesive joining the film and the document surface, and separation of the support sheet.
- a binder comprising a derivative rubber forming a glossy varnish, in particular a cutting base comprising a rubber derivative for screen printing ink.
- a two-component mixture polymerizable in situ forming, after polymerization, a polyurethane layer is made, as printing composition of the second printing.
- a support sheet of matt polystyrene Furthermore, advantageously and according to the invention, use is made a support sheet of matt polystyrene. In addition, preferably, advantageously and according to the invention, an opaque support sheet is used.
- the hardening and / or complete drying of the varnish resulting from the first impression before starting the second impression are advantageousously and according to the invention.
- the first and second impressions so that the thickness of the varnish formed by the first impression is between one third and two thirds of the thickness total of the layer formed by the second impression, in particular of the order of half of the total thickness of the layer formed by the second impression.
- the second impression is made of such so that the thickness of the layer formed is less than or of the order of 20 ⁇ m.
- At least one layer is also produced additional colored discontinuous visible through transparency through the layer formed by the second impression.
- At least one additional continuous layer is also produced.
- each film layer by printing a two-component printing composition polymerizable in situ leading, after polymerization, to a layer of polyurethane.
- the film is covered with a continuous adhesive layer, so that the film is made with the backing sheet and this adhesive layer, a transfer of protection.
- the film is therefore a transfer film can be applied to the surface of a document on which it adheres for the at least partially cover and protect it from reproduction by reading optical.
- the invention therefore also provides a method for manufacturing a transfer of protection.
- an adhesive layer is used transparent.
- the adhesive layer is applied by printing of a composition chosen to form, after hardening and / or drying, contact adhesive (pressure sensitive pressure sensitive adhesive) and / or heat-activated.
- the first is carried out printing and / or second printing by screen printing.
- the process is implemented entirely by screen printing.
- the invention also relates to a film obtained by a process of manufacture according to the invention.
- the invention therefore extends to a film having a synthetic material face, called external face, intended to be exposed to view, characterized in that it comprises an imprint formed in the hollow in said face external and having a brighter surface finish than the rest of said face external, so as to form a sign or motif preventing reproduction by optical reading visible from the side of this external face.
- the film is formed of a plurality of layers, the layer having said outer face being a layer of matt polyurethane with a hollow recess showing a state of shiny surface.
- the different layers of the film are transparent.
- the invention also extends to a transfer of protection comprising a film according to the invention.
- the invention thus relates to a transfer of protection comprising a support sheet and an adhesive transferable protective film carried by the support sheet, so as to allow their separation, and the application and the adhesion of the protective film on a surface of a document in order to cover it with at least partially and protect it, this film comprising an adhesive face intended to be applied to the surface of said document, and an opposite face of material synthetic, called external face, intended to be exposed to view when the film is applied to said surface.
- the transfer is characterized in that said outer face of the film extends in contact with a non-glossy surface of the sheet support, and has a sign or pattern, preventing reproduction by reading optical, intended to be visible from the side of said external face, resulting from a imprint formed in the hollow in said outer face, this imprint having a surface condition brighter than the rest of said external face, this imprint being left, after separation of the support sheet and the film, by a varnish printed with discontinuously on said non-shiny surface with which this varnish remains associated.
- the support sheet is a matt polystyrene and at least one layer of the film having said outer face is a layer of polyurethane.
- the film is transparent so that it reveals inscriptions formed on the surface of the document on which it is applied and / or on its face in contact with this surface and / or at the heart of the film.
- a film according to the invention obtained by a manufacturing process according to the invention. More particularly, advantageously and according to the invention, for applying the film to the document, using a transfer of protection according to the invention obtained by a manufacturing process according to the invention.
- the invention also extends to the document thus protected.
- the invention therefore relates to a document having a surface protected against reproduction by optical reading, characterized in that it comprises an applied film on said surface of the document so as to present an external face exposed to the view, and an imprint made hollow in said external face, this imprint having a brighter surface finish than the rest of said external face, so as to form a sign or pattern preventing reproduction of the document by reading optical.
- the film is a film obtained by a method according to the invention.
- the imprint made on the outer face of the film is formed and obtained without adding material. In this way, it is not not possible to remove it from an original by scraping. Consequently, the reproduction by optical reading of the inscriptions of the original arranged under the sign or pattern formed by this imprint is impossible, as well as that of the sign or pattern himself. It should also be noted that the copy of the original sign or motif on a film is made particularly delicate since this sign or pattern results indirectly of a print formed not on the film itself, but on the backing sheet.
- the film used is a anti-falsification multilayer film, in particular of the type described in EP-0 271 941.
- the invention also relates to a protection method, a film, a protection transfer, a manufacturing process, a document including combination of all or some of the features mentioned above or below.
- This sheet support 1 can be a white or translucent opaque polystyrene sheet, the grammage is around 100 to 250 g / m2, thickness around 100 to 250 ⁇ m.
- This support sheet 1 has a non-shiny surface 2 and is chosen with a size which exceeds that of the surface of the document to be protected.
- the screen of the screen printing machine is placed above the non-glossy surface 2 of the support sheet 1 and is filled with a composition chosen to form, after hardening / or drying, a glossy varnish adhered to said non-shiny surface 2.
- This composition is a varnish, that is to say that it is initially in liquid form to allow its printing by screen printing, and solidifies later by any solidification process (solvent evaporation, radiation, heat, ).
- This printing composition may in particular be a shiny cutting base comprising a rubber derivative for screen printing ink, for example a glossy monotype base # 15 as marketed by CHIMITEC (France).
- This printing composition is used with a screen with patterns or signs printing so as to form, on the support sheet 1, a first printing discontinuous 3 of a glossy varnish adhering to the non-glossy surface 2 of the sheet support 1.
- This glossy varnish has, opposite this surface 2, a face 4 shiny, in particular brighter than said non-shiny surface 2 of the sheet support 1.
- the thickness of this first impression 3 can be variable.
- this thickness is between 2 and 10 ⁇ m.
- the sheet support 1 and its printing 3 are placed in a hot air drying station at 60 ° C for about 1 min, then cooled to room temperature.
- the backing sheet 1 and its printing 3 of varnish are then placed again on the plate of the screen printing machine and covered with a screen furnished with a printing composition for a second continuous printing.
- This printing composition is chosen so as to be compatible with the varnish formed by the first impression 3 (i.e. not to destroy or damage this varnish), so as not to adhere to this varnish 3, that is to say to the glossy face 4 of this varnish, or at the very least, to adhere to this varnish 3 less strongly than this varnish 3 does not adhere itself to the non-shiny surface 2 of the support sheet 1.
- composition of impression of the second impression is also chosen for, after hardening and / or drying, do not adhere to the non-shiny surface 2 of the support sheet 1.
- composition of the second impression use is made advantageously a two-component polymerizable mixture in situ forming. after polymerization, a layer of synthetic material, especially a layer of polyurethane.
- a two-component mixture prepared in adding two doses of hydroxylated polyacrylic resin or polyester resin hydroxylated, or low molecular weight hydroxylated polyether resin, and one dose of aliphatic or aromatic trifunctional polyisocyanate (e.g. resin polyacrylic "ref. U8560” and trimerized hexamethylene diisocyanate "ref. 8580", sold by CHIMITEC, France).
- the quantity of the mixture spread on the screen printing screen for the second impression is adjusted to correspond to a thickness between 10 ⁇ m and 20 ⁇ m.
- the screen printing screen used is such that the second impression is continuous type, i.e. forms a continuous layer 5 completely covering the first discontinuous impression 3 (FIG. 2), and thus constitutes a first layer of film.
- the same screen screen can be used to make simultaneously a plurality of films.
- Each layer 5 of the second impression has a dimension and peripheral shapes corresponding to those of the portion of document surface to be protected.
- the second impression is made so that the thickness of the layer 5 formed is preferably less than 20 ⁇ m, or of the order of 20 ⁇ m.
- the first and second impressions are made so that the thickness of the varnish 3 formed by the first impression is between one third and two-thirds - notably on the order of half - of the total thickness of the layer 5 formed by the second impression.
- a self-adhesive can be used sensitive to cold pressure such as an acrylic adhesive in aqueous dispersion, or a hot-reactive cold-applied adhesive compatible with layer 5 of polyurethane, in particular a heat-activated adhesive formed from a copolymer aqueous dispersion, such as a polyurethane adhesive Ref. AD45 or ADTH of the CHIMITEC company (France).
- the rest of the face 8 of the film 7a is mat, or in any case less shiny than the imprint 9, like the non-shiny surface 2 of the support sheet 1.
- the glossy imprint 9 is recessed in the thickness of the film 7a by relative to the rest of the face 8 (FIG. 4) of a height corresponding to the thickness of the first impression 3, in particular between 2 and 10 ⁇ m.
- the imprint 9 formed on the film 7a has a brightness measured in white light with the BYK GARDNER glossmeter greater than 68% at 85 degrees (angle of incidence of light) and greater than 70% at 60 degrees.
- the rest of the face 8 of the film on the contrary, has a gloss of less than 26% at 85 degrees and less than 16% at 60 degrees, and is therefore matt.
- the surface condition of the film 7a corresponds to the surface condition of the support 1 on which it was applied for its manufacture by screen printing.
- any material other than polyurethane meeting this condition, and which allows the subsequent separation of the film and the support sheet 1, can be envisaged.
- FIG. 3b represents an alternative embodiment of a protective transfer 14b in which the film 7b is of the multilayer type.
- the film 7b is of the multilayer type.
- the film 7b comprising the continuous layer 5 of polyurethane of the second print which will be provided with glossy imprints 9 preventing reproduction by optical reading, discontinuous layer 10 of colored polyurethane, layer 11 polyurethane and layer 6 of adhesive material.
- each layer of film 7a, 7b is produced at with the exception of adhesive layer 6, by printing a printing composition bicomponent polymerizable in situ leading, after polymerization, to a layer polyurethane.
- a composite film 7a, 7b of polyurethane is thus obtained, with. in the multilayer variant 7b, an integrated pattern or sign, the different layers 5, 10, 11 not being separable.
- each layer continues 5, 11, 6 of the film 7a, 7b is transparent, so that the film can be used to cover and protect the surface of a document by allowing the reading of worn inscriptions by this document and / or by the film itself (in particular the reasons or signs of discontinuous interlayer printing 10).
- the support sheet 1 is opaque, so that it is easier to recognize subsequently the presence of the imprints 9 by transparency through the film.
- the first impression 3 so that the brilliant imprint 9 is formed at least in look at portions of the film 7a, 7b intended to be applied to areas of the document 12 to be protected and / or film 7a, 7b, bearing inscriptions which must be visible through transparency such as a pasted or printed photograph, a hologram inserted in film 7b, or other.
- the film 7a, 7b has improved transparency in its portions opposite the imprint 9 brilliant.
- Figures 5 to 7 illustrate a method of using a protection transfer 14a or 14b as obtained and shown in FIGS. 3a or 3b, and comprising a support sheet 1 of opaque matt polystyrene and a film 7a or 7b of protection.
- the transfer 14a is chosen to the dimensions of the surface 13 of the document 12 to protect. It is presented with layer 6 of oriented adhesive material towards the surface 13, the support sheet 1 being opposite. We then apply the layer 6 of adhesive material against this surface 13 to be protected, so as to adhere the film 7a or 7b on this surface 13. In the case of a self-adhesive, it suffices to apply a pressure. In the case of a hot-reactivatable adhesive, it is heated beforehand and / or during the application, the transfer 14a, 14b or, at the very least, the layer 6 of adhesive material. After application and adhesion, the support sheet 1 is separated from the film 7a, 7b as shown in FIG. 6.
- the imprint 9 also allows a first authentication of the document since its presence demonstrates that it is an original. After application of the film 7a, 7b, it is not possible to reproduce by optical reading the document 12 and in particular it is not possible to photocopy it. He is not it is no longer possible to remove the film 7a, 7b without damaging it. This film 7a, 7b allows therefore also to fight against falsifications.
- the scraping of the imprint 9 has for consequence of deteriorating the polyurethane film 7a, 7b and does not erase the pattern or brilliant sign formed by this imprint 9. In this way, we cannot restore the photocopy of the document by scratching. So, it is strictly impossible to reproduce by photocopy or using a scanner the inscriptions carried by the document 12 on the surface 13 and / or by the film 7a, 7b, itself, even if these inscriptions are visible through the film 7a, 7b.
- the invention can be the subject of multiple variants.
- the film 7a, 7b can be applied to only part of the surface 13 to be protected and several films 7a, 7b can be applied to the same surface 13 of the document.
- the film 7a, 7b can be formed from a greater number of layers.
- Other printing processes can be used to make the film, and with other synthetic materials.
