Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for transmission of information to a handset of a satellite telecommunications system with at least one communications satellite.
- the invention also relates to a satellite telecommunications system with at least one communications satellite, at least one ground station and at least one handset.
- So-called satellite phones are set up to make connections with other subscribers over a communications satellite to maintain, with a line of sight in the Meaning of a "line-of-sight" connection between the handset, i.e. the satellite phone, and the satellite got to.
- the handset i.e. the satellite phone
- the satellite got to because of the high frequencies used, which are between 1.5 and 2 GHz or higher, and the extremely low reception powers are already walls, trees, Foliage, etc. insurmountable obstacles, so that the Users can only make calls outdoors or by the window, if this and with it its antenna to the right direction lies.
- the handset user If the handset user establishes a connection wants, he can use the satellite phone or its antenna put it in the correct line-of-sight position. The user the handset can not ensure that during the antenna of his when traveling in vehicles of any kind Satellite phones are in a "line-of-sight" position located, it is therefore not for other telephone subscribers available and cannot receive your call. In buildings, Basements, parking garages, subway shafts, etc. is neither a Call can still be called.
- DE 44 17 562 A1 describes a system for calling people and / or transmission of brief information (paging system) in the Known medium or long wave range, in which only a few Broadcasting equipment needed for a large geographical area thanks to an efficient transmission format allows the use of low-loss receivers.
- DE 296 00 600 U1 describes a device for the transmission of geographic coordinates known from cell phones, the one exact determination of the position of a person seeking help with help a GPS receiver integrated in the mobile phone and optional Long wave receiver for receiving information a GPS satellite and long-wave transmitter.
- the invention is based on one Process of the type mentioned, in which according to the invention it is intended that a specific, to the Information to be transmitted by the handset from the satellite or its ground station to at least one long-wave terrestrial transmitter transmitted and broadcast by this on long wave being the radio coverage area of the satellite and that of the long-wave transmitter at least partially coincide.
- the invention offers the advantage that minimal information with regard to a call the handset even in the most unfavorable Situations such as in underground car parks and underground shafts reached.
- this information can be the phone number of a calling subscriber included in the handset saved and displayed so that the user of the satellite phone at the next opportunity the antenna put in a "line of sight" position and the number of the Participant who called beforehand can choose.
- the long-wave transmitter becomes the information to be broadcast via its own satellite receiver from the news satellite received and then broadcast.
- the information is advantageously in digital information blocks encoded using error correcting codes such as a Reed-Solomon code, BCH code or convolutional code.
- error correcting codes such as a Reed-Solomon code, BCH code or convolutional code.
- the handset to be called also one Identification, e.g. Call number, the calling subscriber and if necessary, brief information for the called subscriber contains. With the help of these two pieces of information can make a selection regarding the handset to be called done, and on the other hand, this handset can Received message regarding the calling party.
- a further embodiment provides that the information is a Contains block length information, but all information blocks can also have a predeterminable, same length.
- the information about the block length is therefore useful because this is a targeted suppression of data on the Block length or part of the block length is made possible. For example, the received data of an information block at least for the duration of a message field be suppressed if the identification contained in it does not match that of the receiving handset.
- Another way to improve reception quality is that the long-wave transmitter among themselves transmit time-synchronized in time-division multiplexing.
- CDMA Code division multiple access
- a long-wave transmitter only transmits when the called Handset is registered or authorized in the system.
- the long-wave transmitter for example, via a satellite receiver or on the ground station of the satellite receiver receives information about the handset called, you can provide that a long-wave transmitter only transmits if the called handset is registered in the system or for Use of the call via long-wave transmitter is authorized.
- This Authorization is communicated in the call log, and is in the Satellite radio network known subscriber-oriented, e.g. in the so-called SIM card included.
- a long-range transmitter can expediently be provided with a satellite receiver be assigned, which is in the radio coverage area of the satellite.
- the long-wave transmitter also gets its information from one Ground station of the satellite, i.e. without the detour earth - Satellite - Earth preserved.
- Fig. 1 shows a communication satellite SAT, a satellite handset or radio telephone SPP and a ground station BST that is assigned to the satellite SAT and with at least a communication network NET, e.g. a telephone network, in Connection is established.
- a first long-wave transmitter is also planned LWS with a long wave antenna LWA, whereby the Longwave transmitter LWS Information from a satellite receiver SRE that the satellite receiver of receives the satellite SAT.
- LWA long wave antenna
- a satellite handset SPP essentially has an HF part HFT, which with an antenna, e.g. a parabolic antenna PAN, in connection stands.
- the SPP handset also contains a digital signal processor TSP and an audio unit AUD, for example to a THO telephone handset.
- An essential one A long-wave receiver is part of the handset LWE, for example with two ferrite antennas FA1 and FA2 is fitted to each other at right angles stand to avoid directional dependency.
- the SPP handset also contains a GPS receiver GPS with an associated antenna GAN.
- an input device OEI is also provided, e.g. so-called Dip switches, via which e.g. a location information can be entered. Of course, this is also common Pull-out keypad.
- the long-wave receiver is single-channel trained and can then, generally narrow-band, a Receive frequency in the long wave range, here under Long waves, regardless of other definitions, a range of waves is to be understood in which the aforementioned Propagation conditions exist, i.e. an availability of the receiver even when covered e.g. by heavy Walls is given.
- the corresponding one Frequency below or above the common long-wave broadcasting range 148.5 to 255 kHz
- the invention now provides that the SPP handset has a specific Information INF is transmitted, which is then important if the antenna PAN of the SPP handset is not in the sense a "line-of-sight" connection aimed at the satellite SAT is or if between the antenna PAN and the satellite SAT there are obstacles to radio transmission in the the corresponding satellite band, e.g. in the range of 2 GHz, prevent.
- Such information is now on the part of one Longwave transmitter LWS via a corresponding longwave antenna LWA emitted, assuming that the SPP handset in the coverage area of the LWS long-wave transmitter or is within its range. It is understood that this range of different circumstances, such as the Transmission power of the long-wave transmitter and the sensitivity of the long-wave receiver LWE of the SPP handset.
- the Longwave transmitter LWS receives the one to be transmitted to the SPP handset Information INF about the SRE satellite receiver from the satellite SAT. To avoid the up-down radio link, can take the appropriate local conditions Longwave transmitter LWS also the relevant information on the part the ground station BST of the satellite SAT (or a ground station) receive.
- the information INF to be transmitted is preferred Embodiment of the invention in the form of digital blocks before, Fig. 2 schematically such a block BLO shows the information INF or part of this information INF contains.
- the block can have a predetermined bit length have and first a location information OIN, then a Block length information BIN, furthermore an identification IDE of the subscriber to be called and finally a message field NAF included.
- An identification can be made in the message field IDS regarding the calling subscriber, e.g. whose Call number, be included, as well as a short message the called party, e.g. "Call from 7pm".
- Blocks BLO offer advantages, but is by no means mandatory. You can also find other specific information in be contained in the block or in a plurality of blocks, such as test fields or the like, but in particular also short messages to the called subscriber.
- the long-wave receiver LWE is the handset SPP always on, i.e. ready to receive.
- the "line-of-sight" position between the antenna PAN and the satellite SAT are observed the connection is established directly via satellite radio and the Information broadcast by the long-wave transmitter LWS INF is ignored or discarded by the SPP handset.
- the call request received via long wave radio the phone number of the caller, i.e. the identification IDS in the block BLO.
- the SPP handset can then to the user via ringer or e.g. via optical display Show call request, so that the user then the Device in a "line of sight" position, e.g.
- the location information contained in the information block BLO OIN refers to the assumed location of the handset SPP. This location can be determined using the input device OIN entered regularly by the user , for example by specifying the nearest city or by entering coordinates. A more convenient option is the use of the GPS receiver sketched in Fig. 3, which continuously determines the geographic coordinates and this via the satellite connection to the satellite network announces, it can be assumed that the Handset users even when a certain time has passed in the radio coverage area of a certain one Long-wave transmitter stops. The location information will used in this case, just this long-wave transmitter to activate or the information via this long-wave transmitter Radiate INF. It is important that the location information with an upright connection between the SPP handset and the satellite SAT is transmitted to the system or network NET.
- the block length information contained in the information block BLO BIN is especially important when information blocks different lengths can be used. Will be information received by a handset SPP, the in the IDE contained in the block does not match that of the receiving handset matches, so during a certain length, i.e. Number of bits, a passing of the for example, information contained in the NAF message field suppressed to prevent the user of the handset SPP does not receive certain information for him.
- the range of long-wave transmitters is particularly at low frequencies and sufficient transmission power practical spanning the earth, but one becomes too high transmission power Avoid using multiple longwave transmitters, which each cover a specific area. Is technically simple it if all long wave transmitters are on the same frequency work, as this makes the LWE long-wave receiver only single-channel have to work. However, this results in the overlap area of the individual long-wave transmitters at the same Field strength a fading.
- the long wave transmitters LWE have a frequency scanner in the SPP handsets included to find the cheapest long-wave transmitter to find.
- the receiver can search for a transmitter looking for the one with the greatest field strength and / or the has the appropriate bit error rate.
- the use of several Frequencies in the long wave range can cause problems lead, since naturally only a limited number of channels can be accommodated in a specific long-wave range.
