Abstract

The mascara make-up brush (1) comprises a core (2) comprising two lengths of twisted wires to form coils between which the hairs are wedged. At least one part of the hairs is made up of a deformable hair sections (3) each comprising over their length two deformation zones. The hairs are made by extrusion of plastic such as a polyamide. They has thinned zones connecting their middle part to their end parts so as to assist the deformation of the hair along folding lines.

Description

The present invention relates to a brush for application a make-up product, in particular mascara, comprising a core comprising two lengths of twisted wire between which are kept hairs.

We know a lot of brushes of this type, including by French patent 88 02114, but there is still a need for have an improved brush, allowing the realization of a neat makeup.

The brush according to the invention is characterized in that at at least part of the bristles is formed by cross-section bristles deformable each having at least two zones along their length preferential deformation.

The bristles with deformable section according to the invention have thus a flexibility which depends on the direction in which one tends to flex or compress them.

They are preferably secured to the core of the brush with any angular orientation around their longitudinal axis and thus may not all be altered in the same way between the lengths of twisted wire of the core.

As a result, when the brush passes through a wringer, not all hairs are wrung the same way and the makeup product is distributed over the brush of a more favorable to the realization of a neat makeup than this is not the case with known brushes, having bristles of section solid circular for example, which offer the same resistance to bending regardless of the direction in which we tend to flex.

The bristles with deformable section of the brush extend in addition in divergent directions from the lengths of wire twisted from the soul between which they are trapped.

This facilitates the penetration of the eyelashes between the hairs of the brush, resulting in better combing and better makeup thereof.

The bristles with deformable section according to the invention are produced preferably by plastic extrusion and present in their extrusion configuration a cross section having a circular outer contour.

The bristles then behave towards the manufacturing process of the brush substantially like bristles of circular section full and are easy to handle, especially with a view to place between the lengths of wire to be twisted to achieve the brush.

In a particular embodiment, the deformation zones preferential are thinned.

Also in a particular embodiment, the areas of preferential deformation are made of a material different from the one or those in which the rest of the hair is made.

Still in a particular embodiment, at least one of the bristles with deformable section comprises at least two movable parts per compared to a third, for example a middle part on which two end parts are articulated.

In a variant, at least one of the bristles with a deformable section has two middle parts hinged together at a end and articulated each at the opposite end to a part end.

The subject of the invention is also bristles with a deformable section. each comprising at least two deformation zones over their length preferential.

The subject of the invention is also a method for manufacturing a brush comprising a core comprising two lengths of twisted son and bristles held between them, characterized in that it comprises the steps consisting in:

• extruding profiled plastic wires having at least three parts interconnected by zones of preferential deformation,
• cutting said profiled wires to form bristles with a deformable section,
• placing the bristles with a deformable section thus obtained between two lengths of metal wire, each bristle with a deformable section having any angular orientation around its longitudinal axis,
• twist the two lengths of wire to form turns between which are stuck said deformable section hairs.

Preferably, the method further includes the step of to grind the hairs.

The invention also relates to a packaging device and applying a makeup product such as mascara, comprising a reservoir containing said makeup product, a wringer and applicator comprising a rod provided with a end of an application element and at the other end of an gripping element also constituting a closure cap for the tank, characterized in that the application element consists of a brush as defined above.

The brush 1 shown in Figure 1 has a core 2 comprising two lengths of wire twisted to form turns between which hairs 3 of deformable section are trapped.

There is shown in Figure 2 the two lengths 2 a, 2 b of the wire constituting the core 2 and only a few bristles 3 in a drawing clarity. For example, each turn can contain between 5 and 50 hairs depending on the type of makeup desired.

The bristles 3 are wedged at mid-length approximately between the lengths 2 a and 2 b of wire constituting the core 2. Only half of the bristles which extends forward has been shown in FIG. 2, for the sake of clarity of the drawing.

This pile 3 has a middle part 3 b and two end parts 3 a and 3 c and its cross section has the general shape of a Z.

The middle part 3 b has a lenticular profile in cross section and the end parts 3 a and 3 c each have a crescent shape in cross section.

They are articulated each by one end to one end of the middle portion 3 b.

The bristles 3 are produced by plastic extrusion, for example a polyamide.

At the outlet of the die, as illustrated in FIG. 16, the bristles 3 have the configuration in cross section shown in figure 4.

In this configuration, the end parts 3 a and 3 c are positioned so that their outer faces, convex towards the outside, extend in a circle C, the middle part 3 b extending in a diameter of this circle C.

The pile 3 comprises thinned zones 3 e and 3 f connecting the middle part 3 b to the end parts 3 a and 3 c respectively, so as to promote the deformation of the pile 3 along two fold lines.

Hair 3 can be deformed in various ways and there is no shown in Figures 5 to 7 as some possible configurations.

The coat 3 can in particular be deformed, as illustrated in Figure 5, by moving the end portions 3a and 3c.

The bristle 3 can still deform, as illustrated in FIG. 6, by bringing together the end parts 3 a and 3 c , which then fold back over the middle part 3 b .

As a variant, only one of the two end parts 3 a or 3 c can fold over the middle part 3 b while the other deviates therefrom, as illustrated in FIG. 7.

Regarding the bristles 3 shown in Figure 2, it was assumed that at their attachment to the core of the brush, that is to say at mid-length, the end portions 3 a and 3 c were folded over on the middle part 3 b as illustrated in FIG. 6.

However, the bristles 3 can be found, at their level attachment to the brush core, in another configuration and in particular one of the corresponding deployed or semi-deployed configurations in Figures 5 or 7 respectively.

As can be seen in Figure 3, the cross section evolves according to the position on the hair 3.

Generally, a bristle with a deformable section according to the invention tends to resume the configuration in which it was extruded as we get closer to its ends free.

Thus, in the example of FIG. 3, the hair 3 tends to pass a folded configuration at the attachment to the brush the extrusion configuration, shown in Figure 4, at its extremities.

It will be noted that the parts 3 a and 3 b on the one hand, or 3 b and 3 c on the other hand can define cavities 3 g and 3 h in which the makeup product is likely to accumulate. The bristles 3 can be loaded with product over their entire length.

FIGS. 8 to 11 show a second embodiment of a bristle according to the invention, referenced 4, comprising just like the bristle 3 previously described, a middle part 4 b and two end parts 4 a and 4 c , joined at the middle part 4 b by thinned zones 4 e and 4 f respectively, defining lines of preferential deformation.

FIG. 8 shows the configuration of the hair 4 to its exit from the extrusion die.

The hair 4 then has the cross-sectional shape general of an H.

The end parts 4 a and 4 c have a cross-section in the form of a crescent and the middle part 4 b has a lenticular form.

In the configuration of Figure 8, the end portions 4 a and 4 c are positioned so that the outer faces extend in a circle C.

The middle part 4 b connects the concave faces of the end parts 4 a and 4 c .

There are shown in Figures 9 to 11 various configurations that can take the hair 4, by pivoting the parts 4 a and 4 c .

It will be noted in the example described that the middle part 4 b does not connect exactly in the middle of the concave faces of the end parts 4 a and 4 c , but slightly above it, which allows the end parts 4 a and 4 c to take the configuration shown in Figure 11, in which they are folded at their upper part on the middle part 4 b .

The bristle with a deformable section according to the invention may comprise more than three parts hinged together.

By way of example, there are shown in FIGS. 12 to 15, various configurations that a bristle with a deformable section can take, referenced 5, comprising two middle parts 5 b , 5 c hinged together at one end and hinged at opposite ends to end portions 5 a and 5 d respectively.

The middle parts 5 b and 5 c each have a lenticular profile in cross section and are joined by a thinned zone 5 f defining a preferential deformation zone.

The middle parts 5 b and 5 c are connected to the end parts 5 a and 5 d by thinned zones 5 e and 5 f also defining zones of preferential deformation.

The bristle 5 has, in the configuration in which it is extruded, a cross section having the general shape of an M, the end portions 5 a and 5 d being positioned so that their convex outer faces extend along a circle C.

The bristle 5 can be deformed by pivoting the different parts around the zones of preferential deformation. The middle parts 5 b and 5 c can in particular fold back on themselves as illustrated in FIG. 13.

The pile 5 can also adopt a deployed configuration as shown in figure 14.

The bristle 5 can also adopt, as illustrated in FIG. 15, a configuration in which the middle parts 5 b and 5 c are deployed and in which the end parts 5 a and 5 d are folded towards one another.

Each hair 3, 4 or 5 which has just been described can of course adopt other configurations, not shown in the drawing.

As indicated above, the bristles are produced by extrusion of plastic, for example a polyamide, using a die 10 comprising a plurality of orifices 11.

The section of each of these holes corresponds to that of the hair you want to make, for example hair 3 in the example of the sector represented in FIG. 16.

Large lengths of profiled wire are extruded which are then cut to the desired length to constitute the bristles 3, which are stored in a bin.

We feed from this tank a comb with notches 12.

Only one of these notches has been represented on the figure 17.

The bristles 3 contained in each notch 12 of the comb are parallel to each other but each have an angular orientation, around their longitudinal axis, whatever. The hairs 3 contained in the notches 12 of the comb are placed between two lengths of substantially parallel wire formed by folding on itself a metal wire.

The two lengths of wire are subject to each of their ends to jaws intended to be rotated one in relation to the other.

The bristles 3 protrude by an equal length on both sides of the wire length plan.

When the jaws rotate, the lengths of wire are twist to form turns between which the hairs 3.

Then it is advantageous to grind the hairs to give brush the desired profile.

FIG. 18 shows the hair 3 of FIG. 2 after grinding.

The effect of grinding depends on the orientation of the hair relative to to the abrasive surface and the relative speed of the brush and the abrasive surface.

Grinding can have the effect of eliminating the thinned areas 3 d and 3 e of connection between the parts 3 a , 3 b and 3 c at the end of the pile so that the latter are no longer articulated to each other at the level of the end of the hair and constitute forks 15 which improve the combing of the eyelashes.

Grinding can still have the effect of melting the plastic material of the hair at its end and form a bead matter.

We will choose the way of grinding the hairs according to the effect sought after for makeup.

FIG. 19 shows a conditioning device and application comprising a reservoir 21 containing the product make-up, a wringer 22 consisting of an annular lip defining a circular orifice of diameter smaller than the diameter external of the brush, and an applicator comprising a rod 24 provided at one end with a brush according to the invention and at the other end of a gripping element 25.

Of course, the invention is not limited to the examples of realization described.

In particular, it is possible to make hairs having other forms of cross section.

The preferential deformation zones are not necessarily thinned areas and can be constituted for example by a more flexible material, the hair then being produced by multi-extrusion of plastic.

Claims (14)

Brush for applying a makeup product, in particular mascara, comprising a core comprising two lengths of twisted wires between which hairs are held, characterized by the fact that at least part of said hairs is made up by bristles (3; 4; 5) with deformable section each having on their length at least two zones of preferential deformation. Brush according to claim 1, characterized in that that the bristles with deformable section are produced by extrusion and have in their extrusion configuration a cross section having a circular outer contour. Brush according to one of claims 1 and 2, characterized by the fact that the zones of preferential deformation are thinned. Brush according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized by the fact that the preferential deformation zones are made of a material different from that or those in which one or which the rest of the hair is made. Brush according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that at least one of the bristles (3; 4; 5) with deformable section comprises at least two parts (3 a , 3 c ; 4 a , 4 c ; 5 a ; 5 d ) movable relative to a third (3 b , 4 b ; 5 b , 5 c ). Brush according to claim 5, characterized in that at least one of the bristles with deformable section (3,4) has three parts (3 a , 3 b , 3 c ; 4 a , 4 b , 4 c ) articulated between them, including a middle part (3 b 4 b ) on which two end parts are articulated (3 a , 3 c ; 4 a , 4 c ). Brush according to claim 5, characterized in that at least one (5) of bristles with deformable section comprises two median parts ( 5b , 5c ) hinged together at one end and each hinged at the end opposite to an end part (5 a , 5 d ). Brush according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized by the fact that the bristles have been ground and have forks (15). Bristles (3; 4; 5) with deformable section each having on their length at least two zones of preferential deformation. Bristles according to claim 9, characterized in that that they are produced by extrusion and present in their configuration extruding a cross section having an outer contour circular. Hair according to any one of claims 9 and 10, characterized by the fact that they each comprise at least three parts including a middle part on which two parts are articulated end. Method for manufacturing a brush comprising a core comprising two lengths (2 a , 2 b ) of twisted wires forming turns, between which bristles are trapped, characterized in that it comprises the steps consisting in: extruding profiled plastic wires having at least three parts interconnected by zones of preferential deformation, cutting said profiled wires to form bristles with a deformable section, place the bristles with a deformable section between two lengths of metal wire, each bristle with a deformable section having any angular orientation around its longitudinal axis, twist the two lengths of wire to form turns between which said hairs are trapped. Method according to claim 12, characterized in that that it further comprises the step of grinding the bristles. Device for packaging and applying a product make-up such as mascara, comprising a reservoir (21) containing said makeup product, a wringing member (22) and a applicator comprising a rod (24) provided at one end with a application element and at the other end of a gripping element (25) also constituting a cap for closing the reservoir, characterized by the fact that said application element is consisting of a brush as defined in any one of claims 1 to 8.
