Description

The present invention relates to a lateral head holding method and a headrest removable which allows a person seated in an armchair fitted with a headrest to keep his head so that there can be no lateral swing of this one.

Air bags around the neck are currently available commercially and which increase the comfort of the seated individual who wants to sleep. However these cushions create an unpleasant pressure on the neck, besides the important contact of the cushion at the neck often causes unwanted sweating. GB-A-258350 patents, GB-A-233844, US-A-4440443 and DE-A-2856366 describe head restraints removable and adaptable on an armchair. These headrests have the distinction of supporting laterally the head. However, the practical use of these head restraints is limited by the presence of a frame which, as it is designed, makes the presence of a prominence due to a cushion behind the head. The presence of this cushion requires the user to have his head tilted forward in case the inclination of the chair is not not sufficient, this position of the head being a nuisance for the user. GB-A-2128879 describes a cushion that surrounds the neck, which is held on an armchair by the presence of a fabric, however this technique does not allow use on all types of armchair, especially on armchairs made of slippery material like leather, because in this case the fabric slides on the material and the cushion cannot be maintained on the armchair. Patent EP 0305062 describes a headrest whose lateral parts are made speakers that surround the head when the user rests his head back here also the constituent elements of the invention are necessarily of armature type and are behind the head, so they can be a nuisance for the user. The cited patents also have the disadvantage of describing headrests which have a certain space when not in the use position. In the case of US-A-4440443 there is an articulated lateral support, the lateral support stops on the rear frame when open in the use position, which requires having a frame behind the head and requires a certain amount of space when the headrest is removed from the chair on which it is normally used. US Patent 3,578,383 describes a lateral headrest which requires a hooking device to the chair on which it is positioned, which requires some preparation on the part of the user. The patent AU 46711 72A describes a lateral headrest formed by two volumes connected by a band fabric, in this case the headrest is not adaptable to a conventional headrest and there is no optimization of the volume of the headrest except by inflation, which is a waste of time for the user.

The invention presents a method which allows a balance of forces between the head of a user, side and rear supports and a conventional headrest. The process comes in a removable headrest consisting of the supports used in the process. The method and the headrest according to the invention make it possible to maintain laterally the head of an individual using a chair fitted with a headrest conventional. In the position of use the lateral support does not abut against the rear support but directly against the conventional headrest. this allows to avoid having a frame behind the head. According to certain embodiments the headrest takes up minimal space when it is not in the use position. The headrest according to the invention does not require a device for attaching to the chair or to the conventional headrest but it is the balance of forces involved which allows to keep it in position of use.

Figure 1 shows the respective positions of the different contact points. Figures 2 to 7 describe different embodiments of the headrest and different positions of use.

The method of lateral retention of the head of a user on a headrest conventional, as illustrated in Figure 1, implements two lateral supports relatively rigid hinged in an articulated manner to a rear support. Media lateral are arranged on either side of the head of the user. Each side support (1) has contact (4) with a lateral part of the head and contact (3) with the surface of the head rests. The rear support is clamped between the back of the user's head and the conventional headrest. The size of the rear support is such that in position of use, the rear support is under mechanical tension. Each side part of the user head rests on each side support, user head pushes back thus each lateral support outside the center of symmetry formed by the head of the user. The force created by the head on each lateral support is reflected by the lateral support on the conventional headrest. The contact of each lateral support on each lateral part of the user's head is maintained by the tension exerted by the rear support on the articulation points (5) between the rear support and the side supports, all of the side and rear supports are placed on the headrest conventional by gravity of the head on the rear support.

In principle the rear support (2) is either flexible or rigid. It may consist of one or more plastic surfaces preferably a fabric. The lateral support (1) is sufficiently elastic to undergo deformations that allow it to adapt to the size of the headrest conventional and user size. The lateral support (1) is sufficiently rigid to maintain mechanical tension between the point of contact with the head (4) and the point of contact (3) with the chair. The lateral support (1) can therefore consist of a polymer foam or PVC as far as stiffness and elasticity are sufficient to maintain the required temptations. The dimensions of the headrest according to the invention is minimized by the fact that the lateral supports are flat. According to chosen material, the thickness of the lateral support is minimized by the optimization between the need for elasticity and need for rigidity which allow to maintain tensions required to maintain the balance of power between the headrest according to the invention, the conventional headrest and the user's head. If the conventional headrest is too small, a rear compensation element is positioned between the part of the support lateral normally in contact with the conventional headrest and the headrest conventional. If the user's head is too small, a compensating element front is positioned between the part of the lateral support normally in contact with the user head and user head. The compensation elements before and rear can be an integral part of the lateral support. You can adjust the distance between the two lateral supports in several ways: We can provide the lateral supports and back of a complementary Velcro tape link system (registered trademark) press studs, laces and secure the parts together at different points setting. We can fold the rear support on itself and have a system additional link at the fold. The rear support can consist of a elastic fabric, which allows the lateral supports to be adjusted to the size of the head the user. To improve the grip of the headrest on the headrest and maintain it in height there is a non-slip material, integral with the headrest according to the invention and located between the headrest according to the invention and the conventional headrest (see figure 7).

Figure 2 and Figure 3 show a particular embodiment of the headrest according to the invention. The side supports are formed from PVC plates linked together in a practically middle position (7) by a fabric forming the rear part (2). A side of the plate (6) is supported on the conventional headrest, the other side (8) is contact with the head of the user via a cushion (9). The cushion (9) then forms the front compensation element. The plates forming the lateral supports are rectangular, but they could have any shape as far where they allow to maintain the required tensions between the headrest according to the invention, the conventional headrest and the head of the user. It is obvious that at the instead of plates one can use relatively rigid frames or grids. The parts (6) of the lateral supports form jaws which enclose the headrest conventional, the parts (8) of the lateral supports form jaws which enclose the user's head. FIG. 4 represents an embodiment of the headrest according to the invention for which cushions (10) have been added between the rear part of the supports side and the conventional headrest. The cushions (10) then form the elements of rear compensations. The lateral supports have a flexion which is a elastic deformation which allows the headrest according to the invention to be adapted by distortion to the size of the conventional headrest. Figure 5 and Figure 6 represent an embodiment of the headrest for which the lateral supports are made of polymer foam sheets, the thickness of the side support is more important than that of the lateral support shown in FIG. 2 and makes it possible to maintain the tentions required between the headrest according to the invention, the conventional headrest and the head of the user. The lateral supports have a bending which is a deformation elastic which allows the headrest according to the invention to adapt to the size of the head user or the size of the conventional headrest. Figure 7 shows a mode of the headrest comprising rear compensation elements which are integral part of the side supports. A non-slip material (11) is disposed between the headrest according to the invention and the conventional headrest at the level of the rear compensation.

In a particularly advantageous embodiment, the invention can be made of fabric for the bitter support and polymer foam for each support lateral. We make a rectangle fabric 0.15 m long and wide 0.10, the rear support was thus formed. We cut in a foam bread polymer a rectangular parallelepiped 0.10 m high and 0.03 m wide and length 0.18 m, the rectangular parallelepiped is then covered with a fabric, we have formed then the lateral support. We then sew a segment at the parallel middle part at the height of the parallelepiped over the width of the fabric forming the rear part.
