In zweckmäßiger Weiterbildung wird bei der gattungsgemäßen Vorrichtung jedoch erfindungsgemäß die Aufladung durch die von dem Paar Walzen gebildete Vorrichtung von innen her durchgeführt, wobei ede Walze über einem Stahlmantel einen begrenzt elektrisch leitfähigen (sogenannten halbleitenden) Belag aufweist und - zum elektrischen Aufladen des begrenzt leitfähigen Belages - der Stahlmantel jeder Walze an eine positive bzw. negative Hochspannungsquelle anschließbar ist. Bei der erfindungsgemäßen Vorrichtung ist wegen der Zuführung der Spannung von innen her auch insbesondere der nachträgliche Einbau in vorhandenen Anlagen zur Verarbeitung von Materialbahnen, vorzugsweise aus Kunststoff oder Papier bei einer Hochspannungsquelle von 3 bis 7 kV möglich. Somit wird auch mit Bezug auf den Stand der Technik mit beträchtlich geringeren Spannungen gearbeitet Außerdem erfolgt die Aufladung genau an jener aufzuladenden Stelle, nämlich an den Außenseiten der zumindest einen Materialbahn, wodurch sich ein im Vergleich zum Stand der Technik erheblich besserer Wirkungsgrad ergibt.
