  • the classification code proposed requires the use of sixteen bits and only a very rudimentary classification code could be defined with only three data bits (a choice of eight possible codes).
  • bit b5 is used as a flag bit to enable the start of a sequence to be identified while bits b6 and b7 enable two bits of data to be transmitted for each WSS signal cycle. Thus over eight cycles a total of sixteen data bits can be transmitted.
