Definitions
- Two-phase spraying device for a fluid or pasty product Two-phase spraying device for a fluid or pasty product.
- the present invention relates to an improved spraying device for a fluid or pasty product, and more particularly to a spraying device of the biphasic type.
- Different types of device have been proposed in the state of the art in order to obtain a spraying of product as fine as possible, even with manual actuation. However, it has been found that these sprays do not reach the same quality as those obtained for example with devices containing aerosols.
- spraying devices of the biphasic type have been proposed.
- Such a device is described in document EP-0 306 066.
- This device comprises a product container on which is mounted a first pump for selectively dispensing the product contained in the container, said pump being actuated by a pusher having an outlet orifice, a second pump for supplying to said outlet orifice a flow of compressed air simultaneously with the dispensing of the product, thereby improving the quality of the spraying, said second pump comprising a piston sliding in said pusher.
- This type of device makes it possible, when actuating the pusher, to distribute the product contained in the container and the compressed air flow coming from the second pump together. Thus, the product is even more sprayed by means of this compressed air flow.
- the device of document EP-0 306 066 has however a certain number of drawbacks.
- the device is of complicated construction and therefore relatively expensive to manufacture and assemble
- the piston of the pump generating the flow of compressed air is mounted on the pump body, which has the consequence that this pump body must be adapted to receive such an element piston. It is therefore not possible to adapt this two-phase pump device to a standard pump.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a device for spraying a fluid or pasty product, but in particular a spray device of the biphasic type, not reproducing the aforementioned drawbacks.
- the present invention aims to provide such a spraying device of the biphasic type which is simple and inexpensive to assemble and manufacture.
- the present invention further aims to provide such a spraying device of the biphasic type in which a standard pump can be used and which can be assembled on the same assembly line while modifying only a minimum of component parts of the device in his outfit.
- the present invention also aims to provide such a biphasic type spraying device which has a pump height and therefore a minimum overall volume.
- the current Another object of the invention is to provide such a spraying device of the biphasic type which comprises a spray which remains fixed during the actuation of the device.
- the present invention therefore relates to a device for spraying fluid or pasty products adaptable to a product container, a first pump for selectively distributing the product contained in said container through an outlet orifice, said first pump being mountable on the container by means of a fixing member, and a manual actuating member movable between a rest position and an actuating position, said device further comprising a second pump for distributing compressed air simultaneously with the dispensing of the product , said second pump comprising two elements which are a piston and a pump cylinder in which said piston slides, said second pump being adapted to supply towards the outlet orifice a flow of compressed air to spray the product, characterized in that one of said two elements of said second pump is fixedly mounted around said fixing member of said pre first pump and the other of said two elements is integral with the actuating member.
- the spraying device according to the invention can be assembled at low cost because the first pump, the container, and the member for fixing the first pump to the container can be of the standard type and can therefore be assembled in the same assembly line as the spraying devices which are not of the biphasic type.
- one of said two elements of the second pump forms an integral part of a ring fixedly mounted around said fixing member.
- said piston of the second pump is integral with the ring and slides in the pump cylinder formed in the actuating member said pump cylinder being connected to said outlet orifice by a air duct.
- the spraying device of the biphasic type according to the invention comprises only two different or modified elements, the ring supporting the piston and the air duct formed in the actuating member. .
- said piston of the second pump is secured to the actuating member and slides in the pump cylinder which is secured to said ring, said pump cylinder being connected to said outlet port. by an air duct.
- said air duct comprises a valve adapted to open when the air included in the pump cylinder is compressed to a predetermined level.
- said second pump includes air intake means.
- said air intake means comprise a valve adapted to open when an underpressure is created in the pump cylinder.
- said piston of the second pump is formed by a flexible ring secured to a ring mounted fixedly around the fixing member of the first pump, said ring sliding in leaktight manner in a pump cylinder formed in the actuating member when the latter is moved towards its actuating position to compress air, and said ring being adapted to deform to allow air to be taken up in the pump cylinder when the actuating member is brought back to its rest position.
- the spraying device also comprises an expulsion chamber connected to the first pump, to the second pump and to the outlet orifice, the product and the compressed air being mixed in said expulsion chamber before be sprayed through the outlet.
- the volume of the pump cylinder is approximately zero when the actuating member is in its actuating position.
- said ring includes snap-on means for snapping around said fastening member of the first pump.
- said outlet orifice is formed in said ring, so that it remains fixed during the actuation of the device.
- FIG. 1 is a schematic sectional view of a device according to a first embodiment of the invention, in the rest position of the actuating member,
- FIG. 2 is a view similar to that of FIG. 1, with the actuating member in the actuating position
- FIG. 3 is a more detailed schematic view of part of the actuating member according to an alternative embodiment of the invention

- FIG. 7 represents a schematic sectional view of another embodiment of the invention
- FIG. 8 represents a schematic sectional view of a device according to a second embodiment of the invention, in the rest position of the actuating member, and
- Figure 9 is a view similar to that of Figure 8, with the actuator in the actuating position.
- the spraying device of the invention comprises a first pump 10 adapted to selectively distribute the fluid and pasty product contained in a container (not shown).
- This pump 10 can be of any type, and advantageously of the standard type, that is to say of the type commonly used in conventional devices for dispensing fluid products, well known in the prior art.
- Said first pump 10 is mounted on the container by means of a fixing member 11 which can be of any type, such as a snap ring or a crimping ring.
- the device further comprises an actuating member 30 adapted to actuate said first pump 10 to selectively distribute the product from the container.
- the actuating member 30, which is manually actuated can for example be a pusher.
- the spraying device has a outlet 31 through which the product is expelled.
- said spraying device further comprises, near the outlet orifice 31, a nozzle 38 to ensure good spraying of the product.
- the spraying device of the biphasic type according to the invention further comprises a second pump 20 adapted to distribute compressed air simultaneously with the distribution of the product.
- This second pump 20 comprises a piston 21 which cooperates with a pump cylinder 22 to supply a flow of compressed air towards the outlet orifice 31.
- the piston 21 slides in a pump cylinder 22 formed inside the actuating member 30.
- the pump cylinder 22 In the rest position of the member d actuation 30, shown in Figure 1, the pump cylinder 22 is filled with air and when the actuator 30 is actuated to dispense product contained in the container, the cylinder 21 slides in the pump cylinder 22 , thereby compressing the air contained in the pump cylinder 22, so that 1 actuation of the actuating member 30 causes a flow of compressed air in the direction of the outlet orifice 31.
- the pump cylinder 22 is advantageously connected to said outlet port 31 by means of an air duct 32, as shown in FIGS. 3 to 6.
- said air duct 32 comprises a valve 33 closing said duct d 32, and which is suitable for opening only from a pre level determined pressure prevailing inside the pump cylinder 22
- the actuator 30 is in its actuation position 30, shown in the Figure 2
- a dose of product was expelled from the container by means of the first pump 10 and the air contained in the pump cylinder 22 was expelled as a flow of compressed air via the air duct 32 to the outlet orifice 31.
- the second pump 20 preferably comprises air intake means 25.
- These air intake means 25 can by example be made in the form of a valve 25 adapted to open when a pressure is created in the pump cylinder 22 under the effect of the return of the actuating member 30 to its rest position
- the valve 25 closes to prevent the air contained in the pump cylinder 22 from escaping from it, and the valve 33 opens to allow distribution of the compressed air flow towards the outlet orifice 31.
- the valve 33 closes and the valve 25 opens to allow air to be taken up in the pump cylinder 22.
- the piston 21 of the second pump 20 is fixedly mounted around the fixing member 11 of the first pump 10.
- the invention provides that the piston 21 is independent of the pump body of the first pump 10 so that it is possible to provide a pump 10 of the standard type which does not require any specific arrangement to enable a device of the biphasic type as described in the present invention to be produced.
- said piston 21 of the second pump 20 is an integral part of a ring 15 fixedly mounted around the fixing member 11.
- This ring 15 advantageously includes fixing means, such as means latching 16, to snap around the fixing member 11 of the first pump 10.
- the piston 21 is formed by a lip 21 which slides in leaktight manner in the pump cylinder 22 between the rest and actuation positions of the actuating member 30, said lip being disposed at the radial end of the ring 15.
- the ring 15 also comprises air intake means 25, which can for example be produced in the form of a valve comprising a ball, or by any other type valve known.
- FIG. 7 Another alternative embodiment is shown in FIG. 7.
- the piston 21 is formed by a flexible and deformed ring 21a which is integral with the ring 15.
- This ring 21a slides in leaktight manner in the pump cylinder 22 formed in the actuating member 30 when the latter is moved from its rest position to its actuating position and, unlike the piston 21 of the first embodiment, said ring 21a is adapted to deform when the actuating member 30 is returned to its rest position, to allow air to be taken up 25 in the pump cylinder 22.
- the presence of a valve is not necessary in the ring 15.
- Figures 3 to 6 show in more detail the air duct 32 and the valve 33 adapted for the transmission of the compressed air flow from the pump cylinder 22 to the outlet orifice 31.
- the actuating member 30 comprises a nozzle 38 adapted to spray the product expelled by the first pump 10.
- This nozzle 38 preferably comprises an expulsion chamber 35 connected to the orifice of outlet 31, to the first pump 10, and to the second pump 20 via the air duct 32
- an insert 39 is placed adjacent to said nozzle 38, said insert 39 comprising means such as a groove 32 to form said air duct which opens into the pump cylinder 22 through an orifice formed in said actuating member.
- said nozzle 38 may include any suitable means for guaranteeing good spraying of the product, in particular means for swirling the latter before they are expelled through the outlet orifice 31
- the insert 39 fixed in the actuating member 30 adjacent to the nozzle 38, advantageously incorporates the valve 33.
- this valve 33 can be formed by a flexible tongue urged in the rest state in a position where it closes the air duct 32, an overpressure created in the pump cylinder 22 above a predetermined level releasing said air duct 32 by deforming said tab 33. It is therefore possible to det erminate the characteristics of the compressed air flow with the choice of tab 33 (flexibility, material, etc.).
- the actuator 30 may further include means 37 disposed inside said actuator 30 to configure the pump cylinder so that when the actuator actuation 30 is in its actuation position, the volume of said pump cylinder 22 is approximately zero.
- One can for example provide to fill the dead volumes inside the actuating member.
- a biphasic type spraying device, object of the first embodiment of the present invention described above with reference to Figures 1 to 7, can be produced with a minimum of modification compared to a conventional type spraying device , ie not comprising the second pump creating the flow of compressed air. Indeed, it suffices to attach the ring 15 supporting the piston 21 and to slightly modify the actuating member 30 by providing therein said conduit 32 and said valve 33 to obtain all the advantages of the two-phase device.
- FIGS. 8 and 9 a second embodiment of the invention is described.
- the pump cylinder 22 which is integral with the ring 15.
- the pump cylinder 22 is an integral part of said ring 15.
- This ring 15 also includes the outlet orifice 31 and, where appropriate, the nozzle 38, the insert 39 and the expulsion chamber 35 described above.
- the implementation of the air duct 32, the valve 33 and the other elements above is entirely similar to that of the first embodiment of the invention described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 7, with the difference that the outlet orifice 31 remains fixed during the actuation of the spraying device.
- the piston 21 is integral with the actuating member 30, and slides in the fixed pump cylinder 22 when said actuating member is moved.
- the piston 21 has an annular lip which slides in leaktight manner in the pump cylinder 22, and the actuating member 30 incorporates the air intake means 25 of the second pump 20.
- These means can be similar to those described with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2.
- This second embodiment therefore makes it possible to produce a two-phase pump according to the invention which incorporates all the aforementioned advantages, and which moreover comprises a spraying orifice, and therefore a spraying of the product, which remains fixed during the actuation of the device.
