Description

The invention relates to a method for the production of book blocks from different, several nested quarter sheets having printed sheets, which are successively pulled along a conveying path by gripping means of an investor from a stack of printed sheets in advance and then collated flatly against one another to form book blocks.
In this way, book blocks are prepared for perfect binding in a collating machine. A collating machine, for example, discloses DE-C-31 26 769. This consists of a plurality of lay-up stations arranged along a conveying device, which individually grips the printed sheets stacked in a magazine by means of a rotating gripper drum and sets them in motion. The printed sheets reaching the conveying device approximately at right angles to their conveying flow are transported by carriers rotating around a traction device from lay-on station to lay-on station, where in each case a further printed sheet is fed or placed until the desired book block is available.

The processing of printed sheets which are formed from nested quarter sheets, that is to say have three open side edges, they are also referred to as tabloids, often presents difficulties due to the change in direction of their movement at the point of takeover of the carriers of the conveyor. The abrupt change in direction, in which the printed sheets are shifted from a vertical direction of movement to the fold in a parallel to the fold, can result in a mutual shift between the individual quarter sheets, especially if they consist of light paper, which can no longer be corrected in the ongoing processing process leaves. In particular, the quarter sheets of an overhead sheet tend to lift due to the loose support and can be shifted relative to the other sheets in the conveying direction with the help of ambient air, among other things.
These irregularities lead to rejects and make processing unreliable.

The object of the invention is therefore a method for the production of book blocks according to the type described at the beginning to create, with the disadvantages listed largely be resolved.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the the printed sheet approximately on the fold gripping means a deformation which at least partially penetrates the quarter arches or leave injury so that the affected Quarter arches are mutually fixed and shifts among themselves be prevented.

The deformation or injury in one is advantageous the subsequent binding of the folding strips to be separated made so the traces of the injury are not in the bound Book block to be transferred.

The injury to the printed sheet can preferably be caused by a Deforming, punching or perforating tool or another, the quarter arches form-fitting connecting tool become.

Favorably, at least two of the one leg become one Quarter sheet of a deformation or injury exposed so that at least a one-sided connection arises.

The deformation or injury in the fold pitch can be expedient a printed sheet can be provided.

It has proven to be suitable to carry out the method according to the invention when gathering printed sheets along a conveying path, printed sheet feeders with controlled gripping means which are formed by a tool which injures the printed sheets in the fold area when they are gripped.
In the case of gripping means which have two pliers parts to form a controlled gripping pliers, at least one pliers part is preferably formed by a tool which violates the printed sheets in the fold area, for example a plurality of needles or teeth which can be inserted into the printed sheets and which, when gripped, bring about a deformation or injury connecting the quarter sheets.

The deformation or Injury could result from perforation of the adjacent quarter sheets or by punching out Divide from the quarter arch or by caulking the quarter arch respectively.

Fig. 1 illustrates a sheet feeder 1 for the feed a conveyor line of a conveyor, not shown with folded and unfolded printed sheets 2, especially those that consist of several nested Quarter arches are formed. The illustrated sheet feeder 1 has a conveyor rotor 3 with one or more on the circumference arranged gripping means 4, of which usually two across the width of the conveyor rotor having an axis of rotation 8 3 are provided. The gripping means 4 are like pliers cooperating pliers parts 6, 7 formed, of which pliers part 7 runs in direction of rotation D. In the present exemplary embodiment are the pliers parts on a shaft 9 to the Axis 10 pivotally attached and by control means (not visible) can be moved to an open or closed position.

The gripping means 4 shown is on the way to pick up a printed sheet 2 partially lifted from the stack or to pull it out of the magazine 11 arranged approximately above the conveyor red 3. The printed sheets 2 from a plurality of quarter sheets inserted one inside the other are stacked in a row there and are in contact with a magazine base 12. A retaining pawl 13, which is controlled by the pulling-off movement of the gripping means 4, holds the stack of printed sheets flush with the magazine bottom 12 on the separating side, the printed sheets 2 with the fold standing on an obliquely downwardly extending side wall 14 of the magazine 11.
A separating device 15, which interacts with the retaining pawls 13 in time with the conveying drum 3 or the gripping means 4, is arranged under the magazine bottom 12 and partially lifts the bottom printing sheet 2 from the printing sheet stack 5 when the retaining pawl 13 is withdrawn. In Fig. 1 the printed sheet has already been gripped by a swiveling suction device 16 and the retaining pawl 13 has returned to its operating position. The gripping means 4 shown is in the process of grasping the printing sheet 2 partially lifted from the printing sheet stack 5 by the suction device 16, the free end of the printing sheet 2 still held in the magazine 11 having reached a position in which it is undisturbed between the pliers parts 6 , 7 stands, which are on the way to the takeover point. There the pliers parts 6, 7 close and pull the printed sheet 2 out of the magazine 11 on its further path of movement, ie between the magazine bottom 12 and the remaining printed sheet stack 5.
After a rotary movement of the conveyor rotor 3 by approximately 180 ° since the takeover of a printing sheet 2, the pliers parts 6, 7 open the gripping means 4 and the printing sheet 2 moves, driven by the conveyor rotor 3, approximately perpendicular to the conveying direction on the conveying path of the conveying device, where it captured by carriers, collected to form book blocks and transported onwards. This passage can be read in DE - C - 31 26 769. As a result of the change in direction of the printed sheets 2 upon entry into the conveying path, the drivers cause an acceleration force on the quarter sheets located in the printed sheet 2, which under the latter can cause a displacement parallel to the fold. To prevent displacement under the quarter sheets, the gripping means 4 are formed by a tool 20 which violates the printing sheets 2 in the fold area and passes through the quarter sheets. Fig. 1 shows as a tool 20 used pointed teeth that pierce when closing the gripping means 4 in the printed sheet 2 and the quarter sheet by a burr or. fix the interweaving of the paper fibers to each other.
Of course, a tool 20 with blunt deformation means could be used, which connect the quarter bends to each other by deformation.

Fig. 2 shows one of several folds of folds nested Quarter sheet 19 formed sheet 2, also tabloid referred to, which has open edges on three sides. In the fold area of the sheet 2 are two from the folds of the Quarter sheet 19 printed sheet fold 18 approximately perpendicular Direction to the flat side of the printed sheet 2 Punctures 18 indicated, the cross section of which is illustrated in FIG. 3 is. In addition to the burr formation of the puncture 18 between each quarter arch 19 on that the puncture 19 is in the fold slope and the three innermost quarter arches 19 not directly captured by him become. The puncture of the tool 20 also causes a compression the quarter bend 19, so greater friction arises between the inner quarter arches 19 Slows effect under the quarter arch. This situation can be used, for example, with a narrow fold trimming before gluing a book block spine advantageous use. The trimming of the printed sheet 2 is by the dot-dash line Line 17 in Figs. 2 and 3 noted.

Fig. 4 zeigt einen durch das Werkzeug 20 hinterlassenen Einstich 21 in der Falzsteigung eines Druckbogens 2. 4 shows a puncture left by the tool 20 21 in the fold pitch of a printed sheet 2.

The puncture 21 according to FIG. 7 in the middle of the printed sheet 2 illustrates a substantial fixation under the quarter sheet 19 in one printed sheet half.
The printed sheet 2 in FIG. 8 was treated by a stamping tool 20 in that the fold of the printed sheet 8 was notched in places in an approximately triangular manner.
Such or similar recesses 22 have approximately the same structure as the perforations 18 or recesses 21. Due to the protruding bones formed on the edges, there is an interweaving of the paper fibers, respectively. mutual interlocking of the quarter arches 19, which mutually lock the quarter arches 19.

Fig. 9 mediates the formation of the recess 22 by a approximately vertical plan view, from which the one carried out from above Punching movement traceable through the trough-like recess is.

Fig. 10 veranschaulicht die alle Viertelbogen 19 des Druckbogens 2 erfassende Ausnehmung 22, die innerhalb des abzutrennenden Falzstreifens endet.10 illustrates the all quarter sheets 19 of the printed sheet 2 detecting recess 22, which is to be separated within the Folded strip ends.
