Claims (6)

  1. Steam iron having a sole plate (10) extending longitudinally from a tip (11) to a heel (13) and comprising a heated base (15) and an ironing plate (21) mounted underneath said base, and two independent vaporisation chambers (28, 29) formed in the base (15) and closed off by a cover (17), that is to say a first main vaporisation chamber (28) fed with water by means of a first injection device through a first opening (33) formed in the cover and communicating, by means of steam distribution orifices (35) opening out on the bottom face (23) of the base (15), with first steam outlet holes (38) in the plate (21) and connected with said steam distribution orifices (35), and a second vaporisation chamber (29) disposed in front of the said first chamber (28), fed with water by means of a second injection device through a second opening (47) formed in the cover and communicating, by means of at least one through passage (49) opening out on the bottom face (23) of the base (15), with a steam distribution chamber (51) provided in the bottom face (23) of the said base (15) and connected with second steam outlet holes (53) in the plate (21), characterised in that the steam distribution chamber (51) extends in a region situated in the tip (11) of the heated base (15) of the sole plate (10), and the second steam outlet holes (53) connected with the said steam distribution chamber (51) are grouped in the tip (11) of the plate (21) of the sole plate (10).
  2. Steam iron according to Claim 1, characterised in that the second steam outlet holes (53) define together a spray area (57) approximately triangular in shape, whose apex (59) is situated in the immediate vicinity of the apex (61) of the tip (11) of the plate (21) of the sole plate.
  3. Steam iron according to Claim 2, characterised in that the steam distribution chamber (51) also has an approximately triangular shape whose apex (55) is situated in the immediate vicinity of the apex (56) of the tip (11) of the base (15) of the sole plate.
  4. Steam iron according to one of Claims 1 to 3, in which the heated base (15) and the plate (21) of the sole plate have the same longitudinal axis of symmetry (XX'), characterised in that the steam distribution chamber (51) has a profile which is symmetrical with respect to the said axis (XX') of the base (15) of the sole plate.
  5. Steam iron according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that, on the bottom face (23) of the heated base (15) of the sole plate, the rear central part of the steam distribution chamber (51) is extended, via a small rectilinear longitudinal channel (65) for routing steam to the said chamber (51), through a chamber (63) for compressing the steam leaving the passage (49) whose outlet is situated in the rear central part of the said compression chamber (63), this steam compression chamber (63) being connected with corresponding steam outlet holes (68) in the plate (21) of the sole plate.
  6. Steam iron according to Claims 4 and 5 taken together, characterised in that the steam compression chamber (63) has an approximately trapezoidal shape whose bases are substantially orthogonal to the axis (XX') of the heated base (15) of the sole plate, and in that the said rectilinear channel (65) and the said trapezoidal compression chamber (63) are aligned on the said axis (XX') of the base (15) of the sole plate.
