A cage for a building lift, with a loading opening (3) formed between two side parts (2), a loading ramp (4) articulated on the cage floor (1) in the region of the loading opening (3) and pivotable from a swung-up lockable closed position into an outwardly swung-down loading position, and with lateral protection screens (12) for the loading ramp, which are mounted extensibly on the side parts (2) and are connected to the loading ramp (4) via a linkage (14), characterised in that the lateral protection screens (12) are mounted for linear displacement along the side parts (2) and in that the linkage (14) has, between the loading ramp (4) and the lateral protection screens (12), articulation axes (17, 18) parallel to the pivot axis (5) of the loading ramp (4).
  2. A cage according to claim 1, characterised in that each linkage (14) consists of a link (16) provided between the two lateral protection screens (12) and the loading ramp (4), said link being adapted to be articulated on the loading ramp (4) selectively with different radial distances from the pivot axis (5).
  3. A cage according to claim 1 and 2, characterised in that the links (16) each engage a pivoting arm (15) connected to the loading ramp (4) so as to be relatively non-rotatable.
  4. A cage according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the lateral protection screens (12) are mounted for displacement on the outside of the side parts (2) and in that the linkage (14) extends between the lateral protection screens (12) and the adjacent side parts (2) when the lateral protection screens (12) are in the retracted displacement position.
  5. A cage according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that a traction means (21) provided with a handle (23) at the free end engages the loading ramp (4) and is trained over a reversing roller (22) in the top edge zone of a side part (2).
