Description

The invention relates to a propellant charge lighter for cartridge ammunition with an ignition tube, in which there is a transfer charge.

In such a propellant charge lighter (TLAnz), the sensitive explosive elements of the ignition chain must be in an estimated, encased form. The transfer charge of this ignition chain made of easily ignitable powder, which burns very quickly even under moderate pressure and passes on the flame very quickly, is encapsulated in the metallic ignition tube of the TLAnz, in which ignition distributor holes are distributed over the entire length. Modern TLAnz have - based on the entire cartridge - a maximum possible length of the ignition tube in order to bring the ignition flame freely into the upper (front) propellant powder layers and to have the largest possible ignition area available through the distributor holes.

With such known TLAnz there is a considerable effort for sealing the sensitive Ignition elements against environmental influences required. In particular, the ignition openings and threaded parts of the ignition tube must be reliably sealed in order to ensure the function of the TLAnz guarantee. If, however, the ignition elements are not adequately protected against moisture failures or ignition delays occur immediately in the event of a fire. With regard to the demands the purchaser of appropriate ammunition must seal the transfer charge be reliably guaranteed for at least 10 years in humid and moisture-aggressive climates, and even if the corresponding cartridge itself is not completely sealed against moisture is.

From US-PS 2,446,187 a TLAnz is known in which to protect the amplifier charge against external environmental influences within the casing tube a thin-walled protective tube made of a lead-tin alloy is arranged. The protective tube is flush with the inner wall of the jacket tube so that the ignition openings are covered. If the lighter is activated, the punch Pressure surge from the protective tube at the ignition openings. However, the flame is ignited by the simultaneous melting process of the lead-tin alloy weakened by energy deprivation, from which there is a delay in flame propagation through the ignition openings into the Propellant powder follows into it. This delay becomes measurable in time, so that short required Ignition times (far below 50 ms) cannot be achieved.

In addition, a TLanz of this type has the disadvantage that the material of the protective tube contains lead components contains, which are released when the cartridge is ignited and as toxic and harmful substances in get around. Finally, the use of such a protective tube from a Metal alloy lead to an inadmissible increase in the internal pressure of the propellant lighter.

From EP-0 392 533 BI and DE-37 01 145 A1 are propellant charge igniters with ignition tubes known in which the ignition openings are provided on the outside of the respective casing tube Plastic hoses are covered.

The disadvantage of this TLAnz is that the respective plastic hose with mechanical loads the cartridge (e.g. during vibrations carried out in the laboratory) can, because the edges of the hard propellant powder grains in the main charge of the cartridge are in able to wear and damage the hose by rubbing and scoring, so that the Protection against moisture penetration into the TLAnz fails.

From DE-34 16 736 C2 a TLAnz is known in which one of a within the casing tube Plastic shrink wrap is arranged, which consists of several ring tablets holds existing transmission charge together and tightly encloses it. In the ignition process the forwarding of the pilot flame is inhibited because the barrier effect of the enclosing Plastic thwarted instantaneous ignition of the entire transfer charge, so that an increase in the ignition time is measured.

Furthermore, a TLAnz is known from US 5,052,302, in which within a combustible Jacket tube is a fabric that includes the transfer charge Protective cover is arranged.

From US 5,140,906 an igniter for an airbag is known, in which within a cup-shaped Metal capsule is a plastic one that includes the transfer charge Protective cap is arranged.

Finally, an electrical detonator is known from US Pat. No. 4,335,653, in which an electrically conductive connection is provided between two electrodes, to which a pyrotechnic mixture located in an aluminum capsule is connected. In order to reduce the electrical responsiveness of the detonator, this document proposes to provide an approximately 1 μm thin insulating layer of glass (SiO 2 ) between the electrically conductive connection and the pyrotechnic mixture, which is vapor-deposited onto the electrically conductive connection.

The object of the present invention is to provide a propellant lighter that an ignition tube with a protective tube arranged on the inside, which with rough handling as well as with shock-like temperature changes and increased moisture storage over a period of time greater than 10 years reliably seals the amplifier charge against external environmental influences.

This object is solved by the features of claim 1. Further advantageous configurations the invention disclose the subclaims.

Essentially, the invention is based on the idea of using a protective tube on the inside fits tightly to the casing tube of the ignition tube and made of a thin-walled material Glass or an oxide or glass ceramic with a wall thickness between 0.1 and 0.8 mm.

It has also proven to be advantageous to have the protective tube with predetermined breaking points in the area of the ignition openings to provide.

Further details and advantages of the invention result from the following with reference to a figure explained embodiment. The figure shows the longitudinal section of an inventive Propellant lighter, as it can be used for example with cartridge ammunition.

The propellant lighter designated 1 essentially consists of a head part 2 and a Ignition tube 4 adjoining it in the direction of the longitudinal axis 3 of the igniter 1. The head part 2, which contains a primer (not shown) and an amplifier charge 7, is with an external thread 6 for screwing the propellant lighter 1 into the bottom of the corresponding Cartridge (not shown) provided.

The ignition tube 4, which is filled with a transfer charge 5, is composed of a jacket tube 8 made of steel with ignition openings 9 and the sealing arranged in the form of a Inner liner or protective tube 10 together, which covers the ignition openings 9.

The inner liner or the protective tube 10 is closed on the front 11 of the ignition tube 4 and on its side 12 facing the head part 2 of the propellant charge lighter 1 by means of a Seal 13 sealed from an elastic material.

As special Suitable tubes made of an oxide or glass ceramic with a wall thickness have been found to be suitable between 0.3 and 0.6 mm.

Such a tube is open seen from the igniter and is therefore on the head part 2 with a or folded, concealed brim, which has a groove. The groove can do one Take up a sealing O-ring or a resilient sealing ring. The front 11 of the casing tube 8 runs out in a completed design. To ensure that the protective tube is firmly seated 10 in the area of the front 11 there can also be a resilient ring element made of soft rubber be provided.

Oxide-ceramic materials based on zirconium oxide or aluminum oxide stabilized with zirconium oxide have good bending behavior and can be used for increased mechanical loads become.

If the wall thickness is <0.3 mm, there is a bond with the inside of such protective tubes of the casing tube 8 proven. Such thin-walled tubes are advantageously used a silicone layer, which is in the adhesive bond with the jacket tube, so that a stable Support is available.
