Abstract

The joint cover comprises an elongated strip section (2) having a visible external surface and an internal surface (4). Two longitudinal parallel ribs (5,6) project from the internal surface. The edges (7,8) which extend towards each other from each rib form a gap of predetermined width (D). A longitudinal groove (9) defined between the section internal surface, the longitudinal ribs and the edges has a longitudinal opening along the gap. The strip section is fixed to a surface by fixings (3). Each fixing comprises a head (10) which can be introduced independently in the section longitudinal groove. The head positions a rod (11) provided at the end of a ball joint (12) which, when the head is housed in the groove, passes through the groove longitudinal opening with the ball joint located outside the section.

We have known for a long time joint covers which are intended to mask the passage of a flooring to another.

We know in particular a decorative joint cover having an adhesive mass on its underside, this element to be glued to the ground (BE-A-758356). This type of joint cover has the disadvantage of aging glue and insufficient anchoring of this fact.

On peut citer à titre d'exemple un couvre-joint de montage très aisé (BE-A-1007798).We also know of joint covers to nail or to screw on the ground. As an example, one can cite very easy mounting joint cover (BE-A-1007798).

These joint covers are however not provided to hide the passage from a floor covering to a other, when these show differences in level.

To solve this particular problem, various solutions have been proposed.

We can cite for example joint covers formed of two longitudinal sections articulated between them and enclosing between them the two coatings including the joint is to be covered (BE-A-859782). The lower profile is to stick to the ground and has the same disadvantages than the joint cover mentioned above.

Mention may also be made of formed joint covers. a profile with two longitudinal ribs rigid defining with the bottom of the profile a slide to allow insertion, at one end slide, nail heads (EP-A-588734). The bottom of the profile and the nail head are arranged so that form a joint between them. However, profiling of the receiving groove of the nail heads imposes limits to the articulation to the point that the plaintiff is obliged to put on the market several different joint cover profiles depending on the height of the inequality to catch up. The result huge storage problems.

We also know finishing profiles PROSYSTEM put on the market by the firm TOMECANIC, Aubergenville, France, where pegs are introduced laterally in a longitudinal slide of the profile. This slide is designed to allow play limited between the slide and the ankle head, this which allows, when necessary, to tilt slightly the profile compared to the axis of the ankles.

We finally know a joint cover of the firm CARL PRINZ GmbH & Co, Goch, Germany, which is described in the Boden, Wand, Decke, Die print Spezialzeitschrift fur Bodenbeläge und Raumgestaltung 2/1993. The profile thereof is provided asymmetrical and deformable by folding on one side depending on the level difference to catch up.

All these joint covers have the disadvantage major of a difficult placement. They require all a drill of aligned holes, then an introduction fixing means, whether nails or ankles, in the groove provided on the underside of the cover strip profile. This introduction should be do by the ends of the throat and the ankles are then arranged by sliding in the groove at distance from each other in a way corresponding to the distance between holes. Then return the profiled hoping the pegs won't slip during this operation. Only when all pegs have their rod simultaneously in their hole respective that pressure can be applied from from above on the joint cover to insert the dowels in the holes. It is absolutely necessary to properly measure the pressure applied all along the joint cover so that it has an appropriate inclination and uniform. As we can see this operation is complicated and requires the address of the user share. In addition, it only allows the use of fixing means to be pushed in, and it excludes those to be screwed for example. Finally, in the event of wrong move and misplacement it's very difficult to plan for removal of the joint cover without break or damage it or the surface coating.

In addition, most of these joint covers require several different profiles depending on the level difference to catch up. By their design, they only allow a limited inclination of the profile used in relation to the axis of the dowels or nails put used for fixing the joint cover.

The present invention aims to solve these problems, by developing an easy joint cover to assemble and disassemble, and of a single type, that is to say also suitable for covering a joint in the absence of unevenness only in the presence of a difference level of around 15 to 16 mm, for example which is generally accepted in this technique as the maximum value to be made up.

This problem is solved, according to the invention, by a joint cover as mentioned at the beginning, in which each fixing means comprises
  • a said head, separable from the body, which can be introduced independently into the longitudinal groove of the profile, the head having a rod which is provided at one end of a ball joint and which, when the head is housed in the groove, passes through the longitudinal opening of the latter with the ball joint located outside the profile,
  • a said body, provided with a ball joint open towards the outside, into which the ball joint of the head can be inserted by snap-fastening, and
  • the ball joint of the head and the ball joint housing of the body being intended to form a joint, in the insertion position of the ball joint in this housing, this joint allowing an inclination of the head of the fixing means, and respectively of the profile, by to his body.

Such a joint cover offers the advantage to allow a very significant inclination of the profile relative to the bodies of the fixing means. These can be placed perfectly beforehand adjusted. The cover profiles are then fixed by snap-fastening the ball joints of the heads of the fixation in the body thereof. Placement and the height adjustment of the joint cover are therefore particularly easy.

According to one embodiment of the invention, the ball has a spherical shape and the housing of ball joint has a circular opening facing the profile, which has a slightly larger diameter smaller than that of the ball joint. Freedom of pivoting of the head of the fastening means is thus particularly well insured.

Other embodiments of the invention are indicated in the appended claims.

Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description given below, non-limiting title, and with reference to the drawings attached.

Figure 1 shows an elevational view of exploded profile of a following embodiment the invention.

Figures 3 to 5 show a joint cover according to the invention used to mask three differences level.

In the drawings, identical elements or analogues are designated by the same references.

In the following description, reference is made to example of a joint cover to be placed between two flooring. It should be understood that joint covers according to the invention can be used to mask a joint between surfaces other than ground surfaces, for example wall surfaces.

In Figure 1, there is shown a joint cover 1 comprising an elongated profile 2 and means for fixing 3. Profile 2 has a first surface, which in the illustrated case is the upper surface, and a second surface, here the lower surface 4. Two parallel longitudinal ribs 5, 6 protrude down from this lower surface 4 and ledges 7, 8 extend towards each other from each longitudinal rib 5, 6, forming therebetween a predetermined width interval D. A throat longitudinal 9 is thus defined between the surface lower 4 of the profile, the longitudinal ribs 5, 6 and the edges 7, 8, and it has an opening down along the width interval D. This throat is also accessible through openings end to longitudinal ends, not shown, of the elongated profile.

The means 3 for fixing the profile 2 to the ground each have a head 10, having a width greater than that of the above-mentioned interval. She is housed in the groove 9 of the profile 2 when the profile is in the fixing position (see figures 3 to 5). The shape of the head is advantageously adapted to that of the throat to get a gentle friction between them, which allows both easy sliding of the head in the throat, but also keeping it in place when stop dragging it.

According to the invention, this head 10 is a independent part which can be introduced separately in the longitudinal groove 9 of the profile 2. It is provided with a rod 11 which, at one end, has a ball 12 which, in the example illustrated, has the form of a sphere.

As shown in Figures 3 to 5, when the head 10 is housed in the groove 9, its rod 11 passes through the longitudinal opening of the groove 9, with the ball 12 located outside of the profile 2.

The fixing means 3 according to the invention each also includes a body anchored to the ground. In the illustrated embodiment the body includes an external thread anchor rod 14 and a head articulation 15 provided with multiple panels, in particular hexagonal. This body can thus be screwed by a key suitable current, either directly in the ground or in an anchor 16 previously introduced into a hole drilled in the ground.

Il en résulte qu'après encliquetage la rotule 12 est retenue dans le logement de rotule 17.The body has, in its articulation head 15, a ball joint housing 17 open towards the outside and in which the ball 12 of a head 10 can be inserted by snap-fastening. In the example of realization illustrated, the housing has a circular opening 18, which in the body fixing position is oriented to the top. The diameter of this opening 18 is slightly smaller than that of the ball joint 12. It follows that after locking the ball joint 12 is retained in the ball joint housing 17.

The ball 12 of the head 10 and the housing of ball joint 17 of the body of the fixing means 3 thus form an articulation allowing a deep inclination of the head, relative to the longitudinal axis of the body. When the head 10 is inserted into the groove 9 of a joint cover, it swivels correspondingly in the head.

La différence de niveau entre 19 et 20 est de 5mm, entre 19 et 20' de 10 mm et entre 19 et 20" de 16 mm.In figures 3 to 5, the joint cover must be placed to hide different inequalities between two floors 19 and 20, 20 'or 20 "respectively. level difference between 19 and 20 is 5mm, between 19 and 20 'by 10 mm and between 19 and 20 "by 16 mm.

First of all, in a known manner, a series of holes aligned in the ground 19. Then in each of the holes, a dowel 16 is driven in. cavity of each ankle we then screw a rod body threaded 13. Depending on the case, we will screw more or less deep in the ground, finely adjustable and easily determinable since we can see what we do.

Then heads 10, in a corresponding number to the fastening means 3 used, have passed in the groove 9 of the profile 2, by one of its ends side. The heads are placed in the throat at height of the fixing means and their ball joint 12 can then be snapped into the ball joint housing 17 corresponding by simple pressure on the joint cover. Thanks to the articulation of the fixing means 3, the joint cover automatically takes the appropriate tilt between the two soil levels. If the height of articulation heads 15 has been improperly adjusted, we can still disengage the joint cover, readjust the height of the articulation heads 15 by screwing and reclosing then the joint cover.

In addition to the hexagonal shape of the head hinge 15, allowing screwing from the outside threaded rods 13, one can also provide, in these, a multi-sided cavity 21 which communicates with the outside through the ball joint housing 17. In this cavity, we can introduce a screwing key suitable which allows to screw the body of the means of fixing, even when it is in a very deep position, as in Figure 3 for example.

Instead of screw fixing means, can of course also provide fixing means driving, for example nails, dowels, etc ..., whose head includes the ball joint housing.

It is also conceivable that the ball joints have a shape different from a spherical shape, for example a cylindrical shape, and that the ball joints have an appropriate corresponding shape.
