Description

The present invention relates to a container having a peripheral rim on which a cover is fixed by heat sealing, said cover having a heat sealable bottom layer sealed against the peripheral rim and a layer metallic upper adhering to the layer heat sealable, the latter being separable by peeling of the peripheral rim by exerting a traction manual on a tab fitted to said cover.

This type of container is used in particular for contain drinks or other food items or medical. The top layer should be rigid enough to allow removal of the seal by peeling and without tearing and perfectly raincoat. It is generally metallic.

In general the tongue is part of the cover and it is arranged outside the cord of sealing. It must have sufficient surface to allow the user to initiate the peeling without too much difficulty.

When the containers are made by thermoforming of a plastic sheet, filled and sealed on the same packaging chain, the lids and containers are separated together by cutting using cutting tools installed on the same chain. In this case, the outline of the lid and the outline of the container return are superimposed. The tongue is in this case arranged above a rim portion which can be separated from the rim properly so-called by a pre-cut line of weakness. This rim portion should separate from the container when pulling on the tongue. In the absence of a line of weakness, the user must move the tab away from this front edge portion to peel.

However, in these two cases, the tongue has a relatively small area compared to the area total cover, and peeling may be difficult even impossible, especially if the seal adheres strongly at the edge by heat sealing.

The purpose of the present invention is to overcome these disadvantages, by proposing a large tongue dimension.

The invention achieves its object by the fact that the tongue consists of a metallic foil likely to completely cover the layer metallic of the cover, said metallic sheet being linked to the metallic layer of the cover, to the level of a lateral segment, by a layer of a material adhering to the metal layer and to the metallic foil, and the adhering material covers the entire underside of the sheet metallic, a varnish not adhering to the layer metallic and not hot-reactivable being applied against the underside of the material layer adhering in the outer zone to the lateral segment. This varnish is for example a cellulose varnish.

The adherent material is chosen from materials with strong adhesion. It can be in particular an Ethylene Acryclic Acid copolymer.

  • Other advantages and characteristics of the invention will emerge on reading the following description given by way of nonlimiting example and with reference to the appended drawings in which:
  • FIG. 1 shows in section a container with a rim sealed with a cover provided with a tab according to the invention,
  • FIG. 2 shows on a large scale the various layers of the cover and of the tongue, the latter being separated from the cover for the sake of clarity,
  • Figures 3 and 4 show the different steps to perform to open the container.

The container 1 shown in the drawings is presented in the form of a frustoconical cup containing a liquid 4. This cup can be made by thermoforming of a polypropylene strip, of cardboard coated or PVC.

The cover 3 essentially comprises two layers: an upper layer 5 of aluminum and a bottom layer 6 heat sealable adhering to the aluminum layer 5 and bonded to the edge material device 2 along a weld bead 7.

To allow the opening of container 1, a tongue 10 is arranged above the cover 3, this tongue consists of a sheet of aluminum 11 which completely covers the layer aluminum 5 and whose outline corresponds rigorously around the lid 2.

The aluminum sheet 11 has on its face lower layer 12 of an adherent material strongly aluminum, an Ethylene Acid copolymer Acrylic for example. Under the underside of the layer 12, apply a layer of varnish 13 no adhering to aluminum and not hot-reactivable. The varnish is applied to most of the surface of layer 13 with the exception of a segment 14 delimited by a cord 15 and a portion 16 of the contour layer 12 device, the cord 15 connecting the ends of this portion 16.

At segment 14, layer 12 of material adhering adheres to the aluminum layer 5. Outside of segment 14, the seal 2 and the tongue 10 are joined but are not linked to each other due to the varnish layer 13.

To open the container 1, proceed from the as follows: the tongue 10 is raised at the vertical in the direction indicated by arrow 20, then is exerted on the tongue 10, using a hand, a force 21 directed upwards while holding container 1 on the other hand.

The surface of segment 14 and the choice of material adhering from layer 12 are calculated in such a way force 21 causes the container 1 to open by peel of cover 3 and does not cause tearing of the tab 10 of the cover 3.

The arrangement of the tab 10 described above allows easy gripping of the latter and ease of opening the container 1.

The cover 3 and the tab 10 described above can advantageously be drawn from the same strip of composite material, comprising the five layers superimposed 6, 5, 13, 12, 11 constituting the cover 3 and the tongue 10, during the cutting phase of 1 filled and closed containers on the manufacturing and packaging line containers.

The aluminum layers 5 and 11 can obviously be replaced by other materials, including polyester or paper depending on the use.

The aluminum layers 5 and 11 are preferably a thickness between 12 and 60 micrometers. The density of layer 12 of Ethylene Acid copolymer Acrylic is twenty grams per square meter.
