Definitions
- the invention relates to a motor-operated hand tool for machining, in particular flat workpieces for producing essentially planar surfaces, with a guide surface which can be placed on the workpiece to be machined and a face milling tool which projects above the guide surface and has an axis of rotation extending perpendicular to the guide surface.
- a device of the generic type which is commercially available under the name "Lamello-Plano" in which an end milling tool is provided with an axis of rotation running perpendicular to the workpiece surface is.
- this tool is suitable and intended for a purpose that differs from the invention.
- the tool should not be used to remove a surface layer, but rather to remove a localized protrusion, such as is created, for example, by inserting a filler claw into a cut-out defect in the workpiece.
- the face milling tool is arranged in an open-edged recess of the guide surface which can be placed on the workpiece to be machined, the overhang passing through this open-edged recess into the cutting area of the face milling tool.
- the face milling tool lags behind the guide surface.
- the known hand tool also has the disadvantage that, regardless of its different intended use, processing up to an inner edge area is not possible, since housing parts make it impossible for the face milling tool to approach an edge or step area.
- routers are known which are however used as intended for milling surface profiles, such as grooves, dovetail guides or the like, and moreover do not permit surface processing up to a fold, edge or step.
- the invention is therefore based on the object, a motor-operated hand tool of the type mentioned in To improve with regard to the disadvantages described above and in particular to design such that a surface to be machined can be machined up to a paragraph, an edge or a step and that the hand tool can be used in an advantageous manner, in particular for machining a fold area on any workpiece can.
- the mentioned escape level is to be understood as an imaginary plane which touches one side of the device from the outside, so that the device can be approached with this level or up to this level to a step, a step or a wall. It is therefore possible to machine a surface to be machined, such as a parquet floor, with the frontal cutting of the face milling tool up to the side walls of the room. However, it is also possible to machine a right-angled rebate area into the rebate edge at the same time as face milling, for example, a window sash surface or a stair step area, the face milling tool with its radial cutting edges simultaneously carrying out machining on the rebate side of the workpiece facing the radial tool circumference.
- the face milling tool protrudes on several outer sides via a respective plane of alignment that laterally delimits the device. If these outer sides run approximately at right angles to one another, very extensive machining is possible not only of a fold area, but of a fold corner area.
- the hand tool has a support plate which forms the guide surface facing the workpiece surface.
- the lateral delimitation of the support plate defines at least one of the escape levels laterally delimiting the device.
- the face milling tool then projects with the flight circle of its radial cutting edges in the radial direction by the desired depth of cut beyond the lateral boundary of the support plate.
- the lateral boundary of the support plate is flat and can therefore be guided along a flat step area or the like.
- the face milling tool could be arranged approximately in an interruption of the support plate, but the support plate preferably has a recess that is open toward at least one side.
- a milling head with cutting blades that can be attached to it is used. It is possible to design the cutting knives and to detachably attach them to the milling head in such a way that they have cutting edges assigned to both the end face and the peripheral surface of the milling tool. During machining, it often happens that nails, screws or other disruptive inclusions in the workpiece to be machined are gripped by the cutting edges of the milling tool, which can result in severe damage to the cutting knife or milling tool, so that they have to be replaced . For this reason, it is proposed to provide cutting knives which are assigned to the end face of the milling head and those which are assigned to the radial circumference of the milling head.
- a protective cover which can be pivoted away is provided, which in its area covers the radial projection of the face milling tool releasing swung away position does not survive the escape level.
- the protective cover is advantageously designed as a rocker-like component and is arranged to be pivotable about a pivot axis that preferably runs parallel to the guide surface.
- the rocker-like component preferably has a flat covering section and an actuation area located in the region of the pivot axis. By means of manual pressure on the actuation area, the rocker-like component can be pivoted about the pivot axis by preferably 180 °, so that the cover section can be pivoted into its position which releases the radial projection of the face milling tool.
- the protrusion of the face milling tool over the guide surface and thus the depth of cut of the face milling tool can be adjusted.
- This can be achieved in a simple manner, for example, in that the face milling tool is fastened to a receiving flange of the tool spindle via shims of different thicknesses.
- the face milling tool is preferably supported by a spring means against a flange of the tool spindle and is preloaded in the direction of the axis of rotation.
- a suitable adjusting means such as an adjusting screw, the face milling tool is pressed against the preload and adjustable against the flange of the tool spindle, so that the Cutting depth can be adjusted by simply actuating the adjusting device.
- Stop means can advantageously be provided between the face milling tool and the flange, which limit the protrusion of the face milling tool over the guide surface and cause the milling tool to be driven in rotation.
- a space delimited by the protective cover can preferably be connected to a dust extraction device.
- the figures show different views of a motor-operated hand tool for machining workpiece machining to produce essentially planar surfaces.
- the device comprises a housing 2, in which a drive motor (not described in more detail) is accommodated, which drives a tool spindle 6 via a gear 4.
- the gear 4 is housed in a metallic gear housing 8 connected to the housing 2, and the tool spindle 6 extends out of this gear housing 8 and into the interior of a support plate 10.
- the support plate 10 is mounted on the gear housing 8 and forms on its side facing away from the gear housing 8 a guide surface 12 to be placed on the workpiece surface to be machined.
- a recess 14 formed perpendicular to the guide surface 12, into which a face milling tool 16 is inserted and is mounted non-rotatably at the free end of the tool spindle 6.
- the face milling tool 16 consists of a milling head 18 or base body, to which cutting knives 20 are exchangeably fastened.
- the face milling tool 16 is mounted within the recess 14 on the tool spindle 6 in such a way that the cutting knives 20 with their flight circle protrude beyond the guide surface 12 by the desired depth of cut, which can be, for example, in the range between 0.1 and 1 mm.
- the Depth of cut is adjustable; In the embodiment shown, it is varied, for example, by placing shims 22 of different thicknesses between a receiving flange 24 of the workpiece spindle 6 and the milling head 18. It is understood that the depth of cut can also be made adjustable in other ways.
- the face milling tool 16 has on its radial circumference 26 grooves 28 which extend parallel to the axis of rotation 27 and in which a cutting knife 30 is inserted and held by suitable clamping means 32.
- the cutting knives 30 have cutting edges 34 which run in the direction of the axis of rotation 27 of the face milling tool 16 and which protrude beyond the radial circumference 26 of the milling head 18.
- the support plate 10 has, on three outer sides 38, 40, 42 which are perpendicular to one another, rectangular openings 44, 46, 48 to the recess 14, within which the face milling tool 16 is arranged.
- the outer sides 38, 40, 42 of the support plate 10 define mutually perpendicular alignment levels 50, 51, 52, up to which the hand tool shown can be approximated to a step, edge or shoulder area.
- the face milling tool 16 or the cutting knives 30 are arranged in the recess 14 such that the flight circle 54 of the cutting edges 34 protrudes beyond the alignment planes 50, 51, 52, so that the processing of a fold is possible.
- a protective cover 60 and 62 is also shown, which shield the area of the protrusion of the cutting knives 30 provided on the circumference 26 of the face milling tool 16 via the lateral openings 44, 46, 48 and thus protect a user against injuries if the hand tool only should be used for face milling.
- the protective cover 62 shown in FIG. 3 only covers the lateral openings 44 and 46 and opens the opening 48 for machining a workpiece.
- the hand tool shown in FIG. 4 has a structure which is comparable within the scope of the present invention, the differences being described below.
- a spring means 70 in the form of a plate spring 71 is provided instead of a shim 22 between one Receiving flange 24 'and a face 73 of the face milling tool 16' is clamped.
- the face milling tool 16 ' is therefore biased above the plate spring 71 away from the receiving flange 24' in the direction of the guide surface 12 '.
- an adjusting means 72 in the form of an adjusting screw 73, which is aligned with the tool spindle from the side of the face milling tool 16 ′ facing the workpiece and is screwed into a threaded bore of the receiving flange 24 ′ through the face milling tool 16 ′.
- the face milling tool 16 ' can be adjusted more or less in the axial direction against the receiving flange 24', as a result of which the projection of the cutting knives 20 'over the guide surface 12' and thus the cutting depth changes.
- a scale 74 is provided on the end face of the face milling tool 16 ′ facing the workpiece (FIG. 5), and the adjusting screw 73 bears a corresponding mark 76.
- the tool spindle is blocked by means of a spindle stop (not shown in more detail), for example a pin which engages in a radial recess in the tool spindle, and the distance between the face milling tool 16 'is then turned by turning the adjusting screw 73 the receiving flange 24 'set.
- a spindle stop for example a pin which engages in a radial recess in the tool spindle
- stop means 76 in the form of shoulder screws 78, which are provided in a stepped bore of the face milling tool 16 'and are screwed through this into threaded bores of the receiving flange 24'. On the one hand, they form a rotary drive of the face milling tool 16 'and, on the other hand, limit a maximum adjustable cutting depth with their shoulders.
- Reference number 80 denotes a protective cover which can be pivoted away and which in FIG. 4 covers the radial projection of the face milling tool 16 '.
- This is a rocker-like component which can be pivoted upward about an axis 82 running perpendicular to the plane of the drawing by a little more than 180 °.
- the rocker-like component comprises a flat cover section 84 and an actuation area 86 which can be actuated by means of manual pressure.
- three such protective covers 80 are provided.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a motor-operated hand tool for machining, in particular flat workpieces for producing essentially planar surfaces, with a guide surface which can be placed on the workpiece to be machined and a face milling tool which projects above the guide surface and has an axis of rotation extending perpendicular to the guide surface.
It is often the task of having to remove a relatively thin layer from a flat workpiece, such as a table top, a door, a window frame or even a parquet floor or from steps, which is an old layer of lacquer or a damaged surface layer of the workpiece can act. Grinding machines, such as belt grinders or orbital sanders, have been used for a long time, whereby deeper scratches, dents or similar damage cannot be removed in this way or only with a great deal of time. A disturbing dust development must always be accepted when grinding. The non-directional cutting edges of the grinding wheels prove to be disadvantageous for certain applications. In addition, especially for the inexperienced layman, it is quite difficult to guide a grinding machine, in particular a belt grinding machine, under strong contact pressure without canting and evenly, so that a flat surface is produced. For the reasons mentioned above, preference is given to machining, cutting.
From DE 35 41 728 A1 a hand planer with a roller-shaped planing tool is known, the axis of rotation of which runs parallel to the surface to be machined. However, such hand planers have the disadvantage that they can practically only be moved in the circumferential direction of the planing roller running parallel to the workpiece surface.
Finally, a device of the generic type which is commercially available under the name "Lamello-Plano" is known, in which an end milling tool is provided with an axis of rotation running perpendicular to the workpiece surface is. However, this tool is suitable and intended for a purpose that differs from the invention. The tool should not be used to remove a surface layer, but rather to remove a localized protrusion, such as is created, for example, by inserting a filler claw into a cut-out defect in the workpiece. The face milling tool is arranged in an open-edged recess of the guide surface which can be placed on the workpiece to be machined, the overhang passing through this open-edged recess into the cutting area of the face milling tool. When the known hand tool is used as intended, the face milling tool lags behind the guide surface. The known hand tool also has the disadvantage that, regardless of its different intended use, processing up to an inner edge area is not possible, since housing parts make it impossible for the face milling tool to approach an edge or step area.
Furthermore, routers are known which are however used as intended for milling surface profiles, such as grooves, dovetail guides or the like, and moreover do not permit surface processing up to a fold, edge or step.
The invention is therefore based on the object, a motor-operated hand tool of the type mentioned in To improve with regard to the disadvantages described above and in particular to design such that a surface to be machined can be machined up to a paragraph, an edge or a step and that the hand tool can be used in an advantageous manner, in particular for machining a fold area on any workpiece can.
This object is achieved in a hand tool of the type mentioned by the features specified in claim 1.
The mentioned escape level is to be understood as an imaginary plane which touches one side of the device from the outside, so that the device can be approached with this level or up to this level to a step, a step or a wall.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the face milling tool protrudes on several outer sides via a respective plane of alignment that laterally delimits the device. If these outer sides run approximately at right angles to one another, very extensive machining is possible not only of a fold area, but of a fold corner area.
It has proven to be particularly advantageous if the hand tool has a support plate which forms the guide surface facing the workpiece surface. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the lateral delimitation of the support plate defines at least one of the escape levels laterally delimiting the device. The face milling tool then projects with the flight circle of its radial cutting edges in the radial direction by the desired depth of cut beyond the lateral boundary of the support plate. In this case, it proves to be particularly advantageous if the lateral boundary of the support plate is flat and can therefore be guided along a flat step area or the like.
The face milling tool could be arranged approximately in an interruption of the support plate, but the support plate preferably has a recess that is open toward at least one side.
Particularly when the face milling tool has a relatively large diameter, it proves to be advantageous if a milling head with cutting blades that can be attached to it is used.
If only a face milling is to be carried out, and therefore the radial cutting edges that protrude beyond the alignment plane are not used, it is advisable to provide a removable protective cover in the area of the side protrusion of the face milling tool in order to reduce the risk of injury.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, a protective cover which can be pivoted away is provided, which in its area covers the radial projection of the face milling tool releasing swung away position does not survive the escape level. For this purpose, the protective cover is advantageously designed as a rocker-like component and is arranged to be pivotable about a pivot axis that preferably runs parallel to the guide surface. The rocker-like component preferably has a flat covering section and an actuation area located in the region of the pivot axis. By means of manual pressure on the actuation area, the rocker-like component can be pivoted about the pivot axis by preferably 180 °, so that the cover section can be pivoted into its position which releases the radial projection of the face milling tool.
It has also proven to be particularly advantageous that the protrusion of the face milling tool over the guide surface and thus the depth of cut of the face milling tool can be adjusted. This can be achieved in a simple manner, for example, in that the face milling tool is fastened to a receiving flange of the tool spindle via shims of different thicknesses. In order to be able to adjust the cutting depth in a more user-friendly manner, the face milling tool is preferably supported by a spring means against a flange of the tool spindle and is preloaded in the direction of the axis of rotation. By a suitable adjusting means, such as an adjusting screw, the face milling tool is pressed against the preload and adjustable against the flange of the tool spindle, so that the Cutting depth can be adjusted by simply actuating the adjusting device.
Stop means can advantageously be provided between the face milling tool and the flange, which limit the protrusion of the face milling tool over the guide surface and cause the milling tool to be driven in rotation.
A space delimited by the protective cover can preferably be connected to a dust extraction device.

The figures show different views of a motor-operated hand tool for machining workpiece machining to produce essentially planar surfaces. The device comprises a
As can be seen from FIG. 2, the
In the figures, a
The
The protective covers 60, 62, together with the support plate 10, delimit a
The hand tool shown in FIG. 4 has a structure which is comparable within the scope of the present invention, the differences being described below.
While in the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 3 the depth of cut, ie the protrusion of the
In order to be able to set the cutting depth to a desired value, the tool spindle is blocked by means of a spindle stop (not shown in more detail), for example a pin which engages in a radial recess in the tool spindle, and the distance between the face milling tool 16 'is then turned by turning the adjusting
There are also stop means 76 in the form of shoulder screws 78, which are provided in a stepped bore of the face milling tool 16 'and are screwed through this into threaded bores of the receiving flange 24'. On the one hand, they form a rotary drive of the face milling tool 16 'and, on the other hand, limit a maximum adjustable cutting depth with their shoulders.
