Claims (9)

  1. A lock (10) of the type having a releasable rotor (16) comprising a rotor mounted for rotation within an intermediate stator (14) in the form of a sleeve (34), which is itself mounted pivotally within a lock body (12), locking members (59) such as pallets or pairs of pistons cooperating with the rotor (16) and the intermediate stator (14) so as to couple them for rotation together in the absence of a correct key, and so as to release the rotor (16) for rotation with respect to the intermediate stator (14) after introduction of a correct key, of the type comprising a member (30) for the angular indexing of the intermediate stator (14) with respect to the fixed body, the indexing member being mounted for movement between an indexing position in which it is elastically biased and in which it is received in a notch in the fixed body, and a retracted position in which it is at least partly withdrawn against an elastic return force, the indexing member (30) being eccentric and mounted for axial movement between its indexing and retracted positions, the lock (10) including an output member (18) which is rotatable with respect to the fixed lock body and which is coupled in rotation to the rotor (16) by disengageable drive means (100, 102), disengagement of which is caused by the indexing member (30) associated with the intermediate stator (14) when in the retracted position, of the type in which the angular indexing member (30) immobilises the output member (18) against rotation with respect to the fixed lock body (12) when in the retracted position, and of the type in which the angular indexing member (30) is mounted for axial sliding movement in an axial notch (28) of the fixed body (12, 24), and the intermediate stator includes an indexing notch (42), characterised in that the axial notch (28) is situated in the radial flank, in the form of an annular disc having a central through hole, which closes the axial end of the lock, and in that the axial notch is open axially at its two ends, firstly towards the rear, facing an annular transverse portion (40) of the intermediate stator (14, 34, 44) which includes the indexing notch (42) in which the indexing member (30) is partially received when in the indexing position, and secondly forward facing a disc-shaped transverse portion (68) of the output member (18) which includes an axial slot (78) open at its two ends, in which the indexing member (30) is partially received in the retracted position, whereby directly to immobilise the output member with respect to the fixed lock body, and the open front end of the axial slot faces towards a member (80) which constitutes a terminal forward axial extension of the rotor (16) and which has an axial cavity (92) open at its rear axial end, and in which a key-piece (100) is mounted for axial movement between a drive position, towards which it is elastically biased rearwardly and in which the key-piece is partly received within the slot (78) of the output member, and a disengagement position in which the key-piece (100) is retracted axially inwards into the cavity (92) of the rotor (16, 80).
  2. A lock according to Claim 1, characterised in that the indexing member (30) is an organ of revolution, and in that the indexing notch (42) has a cam profile in the form of an inverted V adapted to cause the axial forward retraction of the indexing member (30) when the intermediate stator (14) is driven in rotation with respect to the fixed body (12).
  3. A lock according to Claim 2, characterised in that the indexing member is a spherical ball (30).
  4. A lock according to Claim 3, characterised in that a return spring (96) is interposed between the keypiece (100) and the base (94) of the cavity (92) of the rotor, so as to bias the key piece (100) axially backward.
  5. A lock according to any one of Claims 1 to 3, characterised in that, in the rest position of the lock (10), the keypiece (100), under the action of the return spring (96), urges the indexing member (30) axially backward towards its indexing position in which it is received in the indexing notch (42).
  6. A lock according to any one of Claims 1 to 5, characterised in that the key piece is a slider (102) which is mounted for axial sliding movement in the cavity (92) of the rotor (16, 80), and in that a free end of the slider is partly received in the slot (78) of the output member (18) whereby the output member is driven in rotation by the rotor.
  7. A lock according to any one of Claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the rotor has a front rotor end member attached on the rear main body of the rotor, in that the output member is a transverse plate (68) disposed axially between the body (56) and the end member (80) of the rotor (16), and in that the axial cavity (92) that receives the key-piece (100) is formed in the rear transverse end face (88) of the end member (80) of the rotor (16).
  8. A lock according to Claim 6, characterised in that the slider has a radially inwardly oriented tail (114) which is received for sliding movement in a complementary axial groove (50) formed in the intermediate stator (14, 44) and aligned axially with the indexing notch (42).
  9. A lock according to Claim 8, characterised in that the complementary groove (50) is formed in an axial end portion (44) of the intermediate stator (14) which extends axially forward from the said annular transverse portion (40) of the intermediate stator (14).
