Definitions
- the invention relates to a port system for bags which contain liquids for medical applications, that is to say liquids for infusions, clinical nutrition or dialysis or rinsing solutions.
- a port system from which the preamble of claim 1 is based, is known from WO92 / 00118.
- this port system two protruding tubes are attached to a bag, one of which forms a removal port and the other an addition port.
- Each of these tubes is closed by a membrane which can be pierced by the spike of a transmission device or the needle of a syringe.
- a cap which consists of a cap body and a tear-off closure part, sits on each tube. This cap is sealingly attached to the tube and it completely covers the membrane, so that the cap and the tube enclose it in a germ-tight manner. After the closure part has been torn off, the piercing area of the membrane surface is exposed. The membrane can thus be pierced to access the inside of the bag with a transmitter.
- the invention has for its object to provide an improved port system for a bag in order to increase the safety of the use of the bag.
- the port system there is a cover which is placed on the cap body after the closure part has been torn off and closes its access opening.
- the lid is attached to the tube, the cap body or the closure part.
- the cover is therefore a captive part that forms a unit with the port in question and cannot be lost.
- the lid does not require independent disposal either, but is disposed of with the entire port system after it has been used.
- the lid is preferably designed such that after being placed on the cap body it is locked to it and cannot be removed without this being visible through damage to the lid or the cap body.
- the access opening of the cap body is permanently closed by a lid, in the case of the addition port it is achieved that the injection of a medicament into the contents of the bag is only possible immediately after the opening of the addition port. After injecting one or more drugs the user closes the addition port with the lid, which cannot be released again without this being recognizable from the outside. The result of this is that the user can only inject a medication once and does not, for example, carry out a double injection because he has been distracted in the meantime and has forgotten the first injection. It also ensures that no third party introduces any substances into the bag unnoticed through the addition port.
- the lid is generally provided for an addition port, but a removal port through which liquid is removed from the bag can also be designed in the manner according to the invention.
- the removal port is closed with a lid after the first removal. This is useful, for example, if the contents of the bag have to be used up immediately after opening the bag and a residue that is still contained in the bag may not be used afterwards.
- the port system is preferably equipped with at least two tubes, one of which belongs to a removal port and the other to an addition port.
- the two tubes form a one-piece unit together with a base part.
- the base part is sealed to the bag wall.
- the entire port system consists of very few components, namely the base part with the tubes attached to it, the caps placed on the ends of the tubes and the membranes clamped between the caps and the tubes.
- the covers are either molded onto the part to which the pipes belong, or the individual caps or their closure parts.
- the port system 11 is provided on a bag 10 made of plastic, which contains a sterile sealed liquid intended for medical use, which is welded to the bag 10.
- the continuation system contains a base part 12 with several parallel ribs, the width of which decreases towards the ends, so that the base part 12 has the shape of a boat.
- the bag walls are welded to the ribs of the base part 12 from the outside, so that the base part 12 seals the bag in a sealing manner.
- Two tubes 13, 14 protrude from the base part 12 parallel to one another outwards.
- the tube 13 is part of the removal port 15 and the tube 14 is part of the addition port 16.
- a cap 17 sits on each tube.
- the two caps 17 are identical to one another.
- Each cap 17 consists of a cap body 18 and a closure part 19 integrally molded thereon.
- the cap body 18 has the shape of a bell. It sits with its lower edge on a flange 50 projecting from the tube 14.
- the closure part 19 is seated on the top wall 20 of the cap body 18. This closure part is designed in the manner of an inverted cup, the edge of which merges into the top wall 20 of the cap body 18 via a line of weakness 21.
- the closure member 19 is also provided with projecting wings 22 for attacking the hand.
- the flange 50 belonging to the tube 14 is formed with a flexible tab 23 with a cover 24.
- the cover 24 is designed such that it can be placed over the top wall 20 of the cap body 18 and then hooked to the edge 26 with locking elements 25 such that it can no longer be removed from the cap body 18 without being destroyed.
- FIG. 2 This state is shown in Fig. 2.
- the opening in the end wall 20 of the cap part 18, which is exposed by turning off the closure part 19, is closed with the cover 24 attached.
- the end wall 20 of the removal port 15, however, is exposed.
- the associated closure part 19 has been unscrewed from it, so that only the tear line 51 remains, which surrounds the exposed passage opening 27.
- the passage opening 27 contains locking elements 28 in the form of bayonet lock slots.
- FIG. 3 shows that the piercing mandrel 30 of a transmission device 31 has been inserted into the passage opening 27 of the removal port 15.
- the piercing mandrel 30 is first inserted axially into the removal port and then rotated, whereby it is secured against axial pulling out.
- a self-closing sealing element in the form of a rubber-elastic membrane 32 inside the cap body 28, which is supported in a ring shape by annular axial webs 33, 34 of the tube 13 and the cap body 18.
- the cap body 18 is held on the tube 13 by arms 34 which project axially outwards from the flange 50 and can spring radially.
- At the ends of these arms 34 there are outwardly facing lugs 35, which correspondingly snap into recesses in the peripheral wall of the cap body 18.
- the cap body 18 can be mounted on the tube 13 by simply sliding it on.
- the peripheral edge of the membrane 32 presses against the arms 34 from the inside and thus presses the lugs 35 elastically outwards.
- the lugs 35 also serve to hold the cap body 18 against rotation during the twisting off of the closure part 19.
- the internal structure of the addition port 16 is essentially the same as that of the removal port 15. The difference is that in the addition port 16 the sealing element 38 is arranged directly under the end wall 20 and fills a passage opening 39 provided in the end wall 20. The sealing element 38 is thus exposed after the closure part 19 has been unscrewed in the surface of the end wall 20 so that it can be pierced with a hollow needle.
- the transition from the tube 13, 14 into the radial flange 50 is designed in a goblet shape in order to form a finger support surface on which the tube can be gripped with the thumb and forefinger.
- the diameter of the cap body is at least 1 cm larger than that of the tube, so that the cap body forms a protective shield for the fingers attacking the tube below it.
- the inner diameter of the tube 13 is relatively large in accordance with the outer diameter of the piercing mandrel 30, while the tube 14 has a smaller diameter in order to minimize the port space. Both tubes 13, 14 lead through the base part 12 and open into the bag 10.
- the base part 12 and the tubes 13, 14 are configured in the same way as in the first exemplary embodiment.
- the caps 17a differ from the caps 17 of the first exemplary embodiment not with regard to the cap bodies 18, but only with regard to the closure parts 19a, each of which has a cover 24a formed integrally thereon.
- the closure parts 19 each consist of a pipe socket, which is closed by a laterally protruding plate 40. This plate is also part of the lid 24a.
- Around the plate 24 there extends a latching edge 41 facing away from the pipe socket with latching elements 42 which inextricably engage with the rim 26 of the cap body 18 when they snap over this rim.
- FIG. 5 shows how the combined closure part 19a with lid 24a was twisted off the end wall of the cap body 18 of the addition port 16 in order to be placed on the cap body 18 in reverse (ie with the lid 24a).
- the tear-off edge on which the closure part 19 is torn is designated 43 in FIG. 5.
- the locking edge 41 is provided with interruptions 44 which extend into the disk 41 and serve to be able to better grip by hand when the closure part is unscrewed from the cap body 18.
- closure part 19b is also combined with the cover 24b to form a single component.
- This component has a disk 46, on one side of which the closure part 19b is arranged in the form of a lying pipe socket (FIG. 8), while on the opposite side the latching edge 46 protrudes, which is permanently locked to the edge 26 of the cap body 18.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a port system for bags which contain liquids for medical applications, that is to say liquids for infusions, clinical nutrition or dialysis or rinsing solutions.
A port system, from which the preamble of claim 1 is based, is known from WO92 / 00118. In this port system, two protruding tubes are attached to a bag, one of which forms a removal port and the other an addition port. Each of these tubes is closed by a membrane which can be pierced by the spike of a transmission device or the needle of a syringe. A cap, which consists of a cap body and a tear-off closure part, sits on each tube.
The invention has for its object to provide an improved port system for a bag in order to increase the safety of the use of the bag.
This object is achieved according to the invention with the features specified in claim 1.
In the port system according to the invention there is a cover which is placed on the cap body after the closure part has been torn off and closes its access opening. The lid is attached to the tube, the cap body or the closure part. The cover is therefore a captive part that forms a unit with the port in question and cannot be lost. The lid does not require independent disposal either, but is disposed of with the entire port system after it has been used.
The lid is preferably designed such that after being placed on the cap body it is locked to it and cannot be removed without this being visible through damage to the lid or the cap body.
Because the access opening of the cap body is permanently closed by a lid, in the case of the addition port it is achieved that the injection of a medicament into the contents of the bag is only possible immediately after the opening of the addition port.
The lid is generally provided for an addition port, but a removal port through which liquid is removed from the bag can also be designed in the manner according to the invention. The removal port is closed with a lid after the first removal. This is useful, for example, if the contents of the bag have to be used up immediately after opening the bag and a residue that is still contained in the bag may not be used afterwards.
The port system is preferably equipped with at least two tubes, one of which belongs to a removal port and the other to an addition port. The two tubes form a one-piece unit together with a base part. The base part is sealed to the bag wall. The entire port system consists of very few components, namely the base part with the tubes attached to it, the caps placed on the ends of the tubes and the membranes clamped between the caps and the tubes. With two ports there are only three plastic parts necessary, namely the base parts with the tubes and the caps with the molded closure parts. The covers are either molded onto the part to which the pipes belong, or the individual caps or their closure parts.

In the embodiment of FIGS. 1-3, the
This state is shown in Fig. 2. Here, the opening in the
As can also be seen from FIG. 3, there is a self-closing sealing element in the form of a rubber-
The internal structure of the
In both ports, the transition from the
