Definitions
- such an envelope can be improved further by providing it with a self-adhesive closure in which only part of the closure flap is provided with a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive.
- the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is covered by a cover strip coated with a release agent, which must be removed before the envelope is sealed. It is known per se that these strips have at least two disadvantages: on the one hand they cost money to produce and apply and on the other hand the user of the envelope has to dispose of the strip, which is more or less difficult depending on the circumstances.
- an envelope in a special embodiment of an envelope according to the present invention, these two disadvantages are now avoided in that it has two fold grooves which serve to fold the closure flap and are parallel to one another, the rear side of the envelope being designed and the fold grooves being arranged such that the closure flap then, if it is wrapped around the first fold, lies next to the back of the envelope on the inner surface of the front of the envelope, which is coated with a release agent where the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape rests, while, when it is wrapped around the second fold, with the whole Adhesive tape lies on the outside of the back of the envelope and adheres there.
- the die cut shown as a whole in FIG. 1 was cut out of a paper web of constant width only by cutting, but without any lateral shaping. It therefore has two completely straight, parallel boundary edges 2 and 3.
- the cut edge 5 which forms the essential part of the free edge of the closure flap 4 runs complementarily to the opposite cut edge 6, which is the edge which is certain to limit the fill opening of the envelope. This shape means there is no possibility of waste being generated.
- a few further steps are usually required, namely the application of fold grooves and the application of a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive:
- the envelope according to the invention requires three fold grooves, namely the fold groove 7, which delimits the front side 8 of the envelope from the rear side 9 of the envelope.
- the fold groove 10 serving to separate the closure flap 4 from the envelope front side 8, on the inner surface of which it rests, when the envelope is open, while the closure flap 4 is folded around the fold groove 11 when the envelope is closed it comes to rest on the back of the envelope 9.
- the adhesive is applied: the two adhesive strips 12 and 13, one in each of which is used for the permanent connection of the front 8 with the rear 9, are used lateral boundary edges 2 or 3 adjacent zone is attached.
- the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 14 attached to the closure flap 4 serves to close the envelope.
- the diecut has an area 15 on the inner surface of the front side which is coated with a release agent 16.
- the paper web drawn off from a paper roll with a constant width is periodically printed as required, i.e. as required, so that the distance between the beginnings of the repeating printing areas is the length of the Sash matches.
- the release agent 16 is attached to the locations 15.
- the window openings are cut out and closed again with transparent material, as is known per se.
- the transverse grooves 7, 10 and 11 serving as fold grooves are attached. This is followed by the separating cut, through which the seedlings are separated from one another without the formation of waste pieces and the cut edges 5 and 6 are produced.
- the cutting edge runs at each of its two ends over a length of approximately 8 mm perpendicular to the lateral boundary edge 2 or 3. Subsequently, it has a section which continues at an obtuse angle while being on the essential Part of its length is perpendicular to the lateral boundary edges 2/3.
- the adhesive strips 12 and 13 are then applied to the individual die cuts and the back of the envelope 9 is folded around the fold groove 7 and pressed onto the front, where it is held in place by the two adhesive strips 12 and 13.
- the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 14 is applied to the closure flap 4 and the flap is pivoted around the fold groove 10, so that the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 14 is open the point 15 provided with the release agent layer 16 comes to lie on the inside of the front of the envelope, as a result of which the envelope is ready for use or ready for packaging.
- the envelope when the envelope is ready for use, there are always two layers of paper on top of each other.
- the envelope therefore has the same thickness everywhere, in contrast to the known envelopes with side flaps, in which up to five layers of paper lie on top of each other at individual points in the area of the closure flap, which means that there is a significant amount in a shipping or storage box can accommodate a smaller number of conventional envelopes than is possible with the envelopes according to the invention. If such a new envelope is needed, the documents can be filled in without opening the flap. Afterwards, the flap is opened and no longer folded around the fold groove 10 but around the fold groove 11, so that it rests on the outside of the envelope 9 and can be glued to it by the usual pressing.
- envelopes When manufacturing an envelope according to the invention of the type described above, some manufacturing time can be saved by starting with a paper web whose width corresponds to a multiple, for example twice the envelope width, and separating double die cuts from this paper web, as shown in FIG. 2 and is designated as a whole by 21, and then separates it in the longitudinal direction of the original paper web, that is to say by a cut along line 22, into two parts 23 and 24, each of which corresponds to the diecut described at the beginning.
- envelopes can not only be produced in this way in all standard sizes, but also in any special size.

Abstract
Description
- that the diecut (1) has two completely straight lateral boundary edges (2, 3) which are parallel to one another, so that it can be produced from a straight paper web of constant width only by cutting, but without additional lateral shaping, and
- that the cut edge (5) to form the essential part of the free edge of the closure flap (5) of the diecut is complementary to the opposite cut edge (6), the latter being the certain edge to limit the fill opening of the envelope, so that when cutting off a diecut from there is no waste on the paper web.
In the production of such envelopes, raw material, i.e. paper, is saved on the one hand and, which is just as important today, the generation of waste is avoided, as a result of which the usual costs for the disposal of this waste can be saved. In a particularly expedient method for producing die cuts of the aforementioned type, two or more adjacent die cuts are produced from a straight paper web by cutting and subsequent separation in the longitudinal direction of the web.
In addition, such an envelope can be improved further by providing it with a self-adhesive closure in which only part of the closure flap is provided with a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive. When producing envelopes with a self-adhesive seal, the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is covered by a cover strip coated with a release agent, which must be removed before the envelope is sealed. It is known per se that these strips have at least two disadvantages: on the one hand they cost money to produce and apply and on the other hand the user of the envelope has to dispose of the strip, which is more or less difficult depending on the circumstances. In a special embodiment of an envelope according to the present invention, these two disadvantages are now avoided in that it has two fold grooves which serve to fold the closure flap and are parallel to one another, the rear side of the envelope being designed and the fold grooves being arranged such that the closure flap then, if it is wrapped around the first fold, lies next to the back of the envelope on the inner surface of the front of the envelope, which is coated with a release agent where the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape rests, while, when it is wrapped around the second fold, with the whole Adhesive tape lies on the outside of the back of the envelope and adheres there.
- 1 shows a die cut before it is folded into an envelope, and
- Fig. 2 shows a double cutting before it is separated into two parts.
Bei der Fabrikation eines erfindungsgemässen Kuverts wird nun wie folgt vorgegangen:The die cut shown as a whole in FIG. 1 was cut out of a paper web of constant width only by cutting, but without any lateral shaping. It therefore has two completely straight,
If the envelope has to be printed on the inside or outside or on both sides, the paper web drawn off from a paper roll with a constant width is periodically printed as required, i.e. as required, so that the distance between the beginnings of the repeating printing areas is the length of the Sash matches. Then the
From the foregoing it is readily apparent that when the envelope is ready for use, there are always two layers of paper on top of each other. The envelope therefore has the same thickness everywhere, in contrast to the known envelopes with side flaps, in which up to five layers of paper lie on top of each other at individual points in the area of the closure flap, which means that there is a significant amount in a shipping or storage box can accommodate a smaller number of conventional envelopes than is possible with the envelopes according to the invention. When manufacturing an envelope according to the invention of the type described above, some manufacturing time can be saved by starting with a paper web whose width corresponds to a multiple, for example twice the envelope width, and separating double die cuts from this paper web, as shown in FIG. 2 and is designated as a whole by 21, and then separates it in the longitudinal direction of the original paper web, that is to say by a cut along
