Abstract

The armature shaft (3) of the universal motor (2) is coupled to the input shaft (4) of the reduction gear (5) driving the wheels (7) on running rails (8). A triac (22) feeding the motor is gated by a regulator (24) responsive to a wheel speed sensor (27) and a microprocessor (28) commanded by switches (34). The control extends to a driver (17) of another triac (16) or relay activating an electromagnetic disc brake (13,11). While forward speed is being reduced the brake is released so that the crane is slowed only by its internal friction and running rail resistance.
