Abstract

The collector (11) extends in a funnel shape downwards and is placed around pipes (4,5) opening into a fuel, heating oil etc. storage container (1). The top rim (15) of the collector is held by holders, leaving a gap (16) between the rim and cover. A thin-walled hollow cylindrical enclosed sealing element (22) is positioned between the collector top rim and the cover with its tightly closing lid (10). The end sides of the sealing element seal the top rim of the collector and the underside of the dome shaft cover.

Description

The invention relates to a dome shaft with a dome shaft cover and into this integrated lid with a collecting device lined for collecting leakage liquids, which extends in a funnel shape from top to bottom and is placed sealingly around pipes which open into a storage container for fuels, heating oils or the like , wherein the collecting device is held with its upper edge by holding elements and there is a free distance between the upper edge and the manhole cover.

Various devices have been known in the past which have made refueling underground tanks safer. From DE 40 17 534 A1 a generic device is known which reliably avoids sloppy losses which are inevitable when the tank hose is removed. In this device, a liquid-tight, flexible collecting bag is arranged in the region of the dome shaft, which absorbs residual amounts of the liquid escaping during refueling and guides it into the underground tank via a bypass.

Surprisingly, it has been shown that despite the liquid-tight covering of the dome shaft with a lid that reliably retains surface water, water collects in the collecting sack, which must be removed from the sack before the next refueling, since mixing with sloppy losses from the tank hose must be avoided.

As studies have shown, this water accumulation is due to the formation of condensation in the area of the cathedral shaft. As a rule, the dome shaft is not airtight against the atmosphere and represents a depression into which moist air can flow, which cools down on the cold parts of the dome shaft. The consequence of this is the formation of condensation on the walls, pipes and the cover. A further contributor to the formation of condensation is that the liquid present in the soil evaporates upward within the dome shaft and is also deposited on the walls and the cover of the dome shaft. This condensed water drips off and collects at the bottom of the cathedral shaft or, if this is lined with a collecting bag, in this.

A collecting device is known from US Pat. No. 5,114,271, which consists of a dome shaft casing in which a collecting device which retains sloppy losses is installed. The collecting device is made up of several parts and enables separator losses and water to be separated by a separator and both liquids to be supplied to the corresponding storage containers. The formation of condensation is due to the one-piece design of the dome wall and the sealing on it seated lid largely avoided. Ingress of moisture from below is effectively prevented by a bellows-shaped seal in the dome shaft, which seals around the pipes leading into the tank.

The known device does not allow retrofitting of existing dome shafts, which could make the advantages of the above-mentioned device also available to existing systems. If the known device is to be used in existing systems, the dome shaft must be excavated. The old pipelines must be replaced by new ones, which is associated with considerable costs even when the tank is empty, since precautions must be taken against gas formation and the associated explosion risk.

It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a solution which makes it possible to equip an existing dome shaft for underground tanks without major earthwork and welding work in such a way that surface water cannot penetrate and condensation inside is reliably prevented.

This object is achieved according to the invention in a dome shaft of the type described in the introduction in that in the region of the free distance between the upper edge of the The collecting device and the dome shaft cover, which is provided with a tightly closing cover, are inserted a self-contained hollow cylindrical thin-walled sealing element, the end sides of the sealing element sealingly interacting both with the upper edge of the collecting device and with the underside of the dome shaft cover.

With the invention, it is possible to retrofit existing dome shafts for underground tanks without major earthwork and welding work so that on the one hand surface water cannot penetrate due to the tightly closing lid and on the other hand condensation inside the lid, which could then drip into the funnel-shaped collecting device, reliably is prevented because the hollow cylindrical apron-shaped sealing element tightly separates the inside of the cover and the funnel-shaped collecting device from the interior of the dome shaft, so that moisture in the dome shaft cannot penetrate into this area. The retrofitting is particularly simple since only the hollow cylindrical sealing element has to be installed without having to make changes to the dome shaft itself.

It is advantageously provided that the hollow cylindrical thin-walled sealing element consists of a plate which an opening which is dimensioned such that the downwardly projecting inner edge of the opening approximately meets the upper edge of the collecting device, and has a circumferential jacket on the outer contour of the plate, which sits on the plate and is firmly and tightly connected to it , the height of which corresponds approximately to that of the free distance.

To facilitate assembly, it is provided that a circumferential sealing lip is attached to the upper edge of the casing and connecting elements are provided distributed over the circumference of the casing, which can be connected to the manhole cover.

It is advantageously provided that the connecting elements are tabs that can be screwed to the dome shaft cover under the influence of tension.

In order to ensure a particularly tight connection between the sealing element and the collecting device, it is advantageously provided that the inner edge of the plate protruding downward engages over the collecting device from the inside and is connected to it by means of connecting elements.

It is particularly advantageously provided that the connecting elements are hook screws with counterparts cooperate on the collecting device, such that they form the holding elements for the collecting device. Additional holding elements for the collecting device are then not necessary, the collecting device is connected and held by the hollow cylindrical sealing element with the dome shaft cover.

Furthermore, it is advantageously provided that the dome shaft cover is reinforced by a circumferential girder on which the jacket of the sealing element is tightly circumferential.

In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 1, a preferably double-walled fuel storage container 1 is provided with a filling dome 2, which is closed off by a dome cover 3. A fill tube 4 and a dip tube 5 provided with a mechanical dipstick extend through the dome cover 3 as well as possibly other devices, which are identified by way of example with the reference number 6. The reservoir 1 is also connected to fuel lines, vents, not shown, etc.

Above the filling dome 2, a dome shaft 7 is bricked or concreted and covered on the upper side with a cover frame 8, preferably made of concrete, which is part of the dome shaft cover. The dome shaft cover also has a shaft frame 9, preferably made of steel, which is inserted on the inside into the cover frame. In the manhole frame 9 of the manhole cover, a manhole cover 10 protruding slightly above the top of the terrain is mounted in the manner described in more detail below.

Except for the filler pipe 4 and the leveling pipe 5, essentially no further devices connected to the storage container 1 are arranged above the dome cover 3, so that a free space extends in this area in which a funnel-shaped collecting device, preferably a flexible and leakage-resistant collecting bag 11 is arranged, which is formed with sleeves 12, 13 which are rolled up like a bellows, each of which is fixed with a preferably reinforced opening edge with a fastening clamp 14 or the like Figure 1 can be seen.

The funnel-shaped collecting bag 11 is thus tight on the bottom side and delimited on the upper side by an upper edge 15 which is held by holding elements which will be explained in more detail below. The upper edge 15 of the collecting bag 11 is arranged so that there is a free distance between the upper edge 15 and the manhole cover, this area of the free distance is designated by 16.

In order to seal the dome shaft 7 or in particular the collecting bag 11 upwards, the manhole cover 10 is inserted into the manhole frame 9 in a watertight manner. For this purpose, in this embodiment the manhole cover 10 has an annular outer cover 17 which is inserted firmly and tightly into the manhole frame 9, it preferably having a circumferential girder 18 on the underside. The outer cover 17 can be fastened to the manhole frame 9 in various ways; in the exemplary embodiment shown, it is welded to the manhole frame 9. Top the outer cover 17 has an edge 19 which can be ramp-shaped, the slope of the ramp being adapted to a ramp-shaped outer edge 20 of the manhole cover 10. On the inside, the outer cover 17 has a further circumferential edge 21 which projects beyond the level of the top edge of the terrain and prevents liquid from entering the dome shaft 7 from the outside when the manhole cover 10 is closed, ie the manhole cover 10 is designed to be tightly closing, further sealing elements can also be provided.

It is essential for the invention that in the area 16 of the free distance between the manhole cover, in the exemplary embodiment shown between the lower edge of the beam 18 and the upper edge 15 of the collecting bag 11, a self-contained hollow cylindrical apron-shaped thin-walled sealing element 22 is arranged. This sealing element is shown in detail in Figures 2 to 4. The sealing element 22 preferably consists of a plate 23 which has an opening 24 which is dimensioned such that its inner edge 25 protruding downward coincides approximately with the upper edge 15 of the collecting bag 11, and a cylindrical jacket which runs around the outer contour of the plate 23 26 has, which sits on the plate 23 or is integrally formed with it and thus firmly and tightly with this is connected, wherein the height of the jacket 26 corresponds approximately to that of the free distance 16. On the upper edge of the jacket 26, a circumferential sealing lip, not shown, is attached and, distributed around the circumference of the jacket 26, connecting elements are provided which are designed as tabs 27 and are used for fastening to the manhole cover, ie in the exemplary embodiment on the beam 18. The tabs 27 can be designed to be screwed to the beam 18, for example under the action of tension.

The downwardly projecting inner edge 25 of the plate 23 engages over the upper edge 15 of the collecting bag 11 to the inside and is connected to the collecting bag 11 by means of connecting elements which are designed, for example, as hook screws 28 which can be inserted through bores 29 in the plate 23 of the sealing element 22 . These hook screws 28 interact with counterparts on the collecting bag 11, namely preferably with fastening rings 30, 31. These hook screws 29 therefore not only serve for the connection between the sealing element 22 and the collecting bag 11, but also as holding elements for the collecting bag 11.

The dome shaft cover can thus be seen to be tightly connected to the collecting bag 11 via the sealing element 16. As a result, condensation forms in the cathedral shaft do not knock down on the manhole cover or on the manhole cover 10 and cannot get into the collecting bag 11, so that no water penetrates into the collecting bag 11. When filling the storage container 1 with the manhole cover 10 open, only fuel waste losses can penetrate into the collecting bag 11, wherein these waste quantities can preferably be introduced into the storage container 1 via a bypass line (not shown).

Of course, the invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiments shown. Further configurations are possible without leaving the basic idea. Thus, the sealing element 22 can of course also be designed in a different way, but it is essential that the sealing element 22 establishes a tight connection between the manhole cover and the upper edge 15 of the collecting bag 11. The collecting bag 11 can of course also, if this is necessary or expedient, be provided with its own holding elements which are independent of the sealing element and the like. More.
