Definitions
- the invention relates to an improved massage device and aims in particular to improvements provided on massage devices as described in French patent No. 1,262,160 and the addition certificates FR 79910 and FR 85015.
- the aforementioned massage devices mainly comprise a motor, a motor shaft arranged to be driven in rotation by the motor, a head of massage carrying massage members and comprising a central bore capable of allowing it to be mounted around the drive shaft, and means for holding the massage head adapted so that the latter is integral in rotation with the drive shaft.
- the present invention aims to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks of massage devices and aims to provide an improved massage device eliminating any risk of tissue trauma.
- Another object of the invention is to provide a massage device making it possible to obtain a very effective massage in all circumstances.
- Another object of the invention is to provide a massage device, the massage head of which can be easily changed.
- the motor of this massage device is a direct current motor associated with a worm gear reducer.
- a direct current motor associated with a worm gear reducer.
- Such a DC motor / worm gear reducer combination makes it possible to give the massage head a fixed speed of rotation whatever the load, thus guaranteeing an effective massage in all conditions.
- the elastic support means comprise at least one elastic axial support member interposed between the massage head and at least one stop member, and at least one elastic radial support member housed at the inside the bore of said massage head, around the motor shaft.
- the bore of the massage head has longitudinally the shape of two opposite diverging points separated by a neck of cross section conjugate with that of the motor shaft, each of said diverging sections having an increasing cross section towards one end of said bore, and each elastic radial support member being arranged in the vicinity of one of said bore ends.
- the drive shaft has a length portion, intended to be housed in the bore of the massage head, of polygonal section, said bore having an internal polygonal conjugate shape.
- the lower stop member consists of at least one element of shape adapted to come into abutment at the neck of the bore of the massage head, each of said elements being able to s '' radially radially elastic and reversible under the effect of a stress resulting from an axial force of predetermined intensity exerted on the massage head.
- a change of massage head simply requires pulling on the massage head mounted on the device, so as to cause the low stop member to fade radially due to the stress exerted on it by the neck of the bore.
- the installation of a new massage head is obtained by a reverse operation.
- the massage device comprises a housing containing the motor and its reduction gear, provided with an orifice housing a bearing, through which the motor shaft extends.
- this massage device advantageously comprises a propeller mounted on the motor output shaft, upstream of the worm, the housing being pierced, around the periphery of the orifice housing the motor shaft, with lights for the passage of the air stirred by said propeller.
- Such a propeller has a double function: on the one hand, it makes it possible to cool the engine, and on the other hand, it provides a flow of air heated by said engine whose action is not only physiological, but also mechanical because leading to the dispersion of the materials raised during the contact of the massage members on the skin.
- the massage device shown in Figures 1 and 2 has the essential feature of having a floating massage head.
- This massage device is presented under the form of a box 1 consisting of two half-boxes 2, 3 forming an ergonomic handle allowing the device to be manipulated with one hand.
- This housing 1 also constitutes a casing housing the various elements (electric motors, etc.), and the interior arrangement of which is adapted to ensure the maintenance of each of said elements.
- this housing is provided, on the underside of the casing, with a cylindrical wall 4 arranged to extend around the massage head, over a partial portion of the height of the latter.
- the massage device comprises, firstly, a direct current motor 5 housed in the housing 1.
- This motor 5 is electrically supplied by means of an electronic card 6 connected to an electric cable 7 intended to be connected to the network.
- This electric cable 7 enters the housing 1 through an orifice 8 formed in this housing and is blocked, in order to avoid any risk of disconnection, by a baffle system 9.
- the electronic card 6 is also connected to a switch 10, said card and switch being adapted to allow two speeds of rotation of the motor 5 to be selected.
- the massage device further comprises, associated with the motor 5, a reduction gear consisting of an endless screw 11 extending in the extension of the output shaft 5a of said motor, and a toothed wheel 12 meshing with said worm.
- the massage device comprises, also associated with the motor 5, a propeller 13 mounted on the output shaft 5a of said motor upstream of the worm screw 11.
- This propeller 13 is adapted to create an air flow suitable for cooling the motor 5, and for delivering the flow of heated air to the massage head, by means of lights, such as 14, formed in the half-housing 3 so as to put the inside of case 1 and the volume delimited by the cylindrical wall 4.
- the housing 1 comprises, in line with the propeller 13, a transverse internal wall 1a dividing the interior of said housing into two upstream and downstream compartments relative to said propeller.
- the massage device also includes a motor shaft 15 for transmitting to the massage head, the rotational movement of the motor / reduction unit.
- a motor shaft 15 for transmitting to the massage head, the rotational movement of the motor / reduction unit.
- one of the upper ends of this drive shaft 15 has a knurling and is force-fitted inside a blind bore 12a formed axially in the core of the toothed wheel 12.
- This drive shaft 15 extends outside the housing 1 through an orifice formed in the latter, axially relative to the cylindrical wall 4.
- the wall of the housing 1 is shaped, at this orifice, so as to constitute a sleeve 16 inside which is housed a bearing 17.
- the opposite, lower, end of the drive shaft 15 is made up of a threaded section 15b, of diameter less than that of the upper section 15a, onto which is screwed a shaft end piece 18 arranged to extend into the lower extension of said drive shaft 15, and the ability to be dismantled is intended to allow the establishment of elastic support members described below.
- This shaft end piece 18 is divided longitudinally into three sections, namely, with reference to FIG. 3: a cylindrical upper section 18a of section substantially smaller than that of the upper section 15a of the motor shaft 15, an intermediate section 18c consisting in an annular groove of semi-cylindrical section separated from the upper section 18a by a shoulder 18b, and a lower section 18d, of length much longer than the other two sections, having a hexagonal section.
- this lower section 18d comprises, at a short distance from its lower end, an annular groove housing an O-ring 19 of thickness adapted to partially project outside of this groove.
- the elastic support members mentioned above consist of two O-rings 20, 21 intended to allow respectively axial and angular deflections of the massage head.
- the first 20 of these O-rings constituting the elastic axial support member, is arranged around the upper section 18a of the shaft end, and is held between two washers 22, 23, one of said washers 22 being pinched between the drive shaft 15 and the shaft end 18, and the other washer 23 resting on the shoulder 18b of said shaft end.
- the second 21 of these O-rings constituting the elastic radial support member, is housed in the annular groove formed by the intermediate section 18c of the shaft end 18, and has a thickness suitable for partially protruding from the outside this gorge.
- two anti-friction washers 24, 25 are arranged around the motor shaft 15, in upper and lower contact with the bearing 17.
- the massage heads designed to equip such a massage device are all composed of a central hub 26 in which is formed a bore 27 of hexagonal section, capable of allowing the mounting of said massage heads, and of arms such as 28, in the example three in number, uniformly distributed, extending radially with respect to the axis of the bore 27, each of said arms consisting of a rod carrying at least one massage member.
- the bore of the hub 26 has, moreover, longitudinally, the shape of two opposite diverging sections 27a, 27c separated by a neck 27b of cross section conjugate with that of the lower hexagonal portion 18d of the shaft end piece 18, each of said diverging sections having an increasing section in the direction of one end of the bore 27.
- this bore 27 has a countersink 29 at its upper end, capable of accommodating the portion of the O-ring 20 projecting radially outside the annular groove constituting the intermediate section 18c of the shaft end piece 18 .
- central hub 26 has, at the counterbore 29, an upper annular section of dimensions adapted so that said hub comes into high abutment against the washer 23 once the massage head is in place.
- Such a massage device is therefore designed to allow rapid assembly and disassembly of the massage heads by simple snap-fastening, the stop member ensuring the maintenance of these massage heads being constituted by the O-ring 19 whose external dimensions, excluding stresses, are greater than those of the collar 27b.
- the massage heads can undergo, on the one hand, an axial movement by compression of the O-ring 20, and on the other hand, an angular movement by compression of the gasket O-ring 21, this angular movement being further authorized by the divergent shape of the bore 27.
- the massage members shown in FIG. 1 consist, for each radial arm 28, of spaced wheels, in the example two wheels 30, 31 per arm 28, having a smooth tread and made of a rigid material.
- the rim of these wheels can be made of a rigid material, and the tread made of a flexible material.
- Each of these wheels 30, 31 has a central bore (not seen in the figures) constituting a sleeve forming a spacer, making it possible to mount them free in rotation around the arms 28.
- the massage members shown in Figure 5 consist, in turn, spaced wheels, in the example two wheels 32, 33 per arm 28, having a tread with conical teeth made of a flexible material. According to another embodiment, these conical teeth can be replaced by small suction cups.
- the massage members shown in FIG. 6 consist, for each radial arm 28, of a roller 34 made of a foam material.
