Abstract

The watch housing has a movable attachment unit, which comprises two horn-shaped pieces (1) having at least one notch or groove (2) for receiving a bar or pinion piece attached to a bracelet or strap. Each groove has an opening (11) on top of the horn-piece, and leads in the direction of the bracelet to terminate in a bore The latter receives the pinion such that a traction force is exerted on the bracelet towards the base of the watch to hold the bar or pinion in the groove. At least one pivoting cover is adapted to close the openings by means of lateral protrusions, each locatable in an opening when the cover is closed. The cover has at least one lateral cavity and at least one horn-piece has a hole extending from part to part. A thread element is located in one part of the hole, and a tapered closing at the other end. A spur (19) is pushed by elastic elements and is introduced into the hole such that it passes from the horn element while being held by the tapered end.

Description

There are quite a number of strap attachment systems to watch cases. However, in their immense majority, if not all, they boil down to a bar inserted in one or more horns integral with the box and to which the bracelet is attached. Most often, the bar is taken between two horns, each end of the bar being inserted into a hole made in one of the horns, the bracelet, whether leather, metal or plastic, being attached to the bar by surrounding all or part of its free length. In the devices with central fixing, there is only one horn for each strand of the bracelet, and the bar crosses the horn from side to side, the strand of the bracelet having a notch in the center to make room for the horn , and being attached to the two parts of the bar which protrude on either side of the horn.

Today, the watch is more and more a fashion accessory. The consumer therefore wishes to be able to match his watch with the clothes he wears. This implies the possibility of changing the watch strap according to the type and / or colors of the clothes worn. The manufacturers therefore sought solutions to allow an easy and rapid change of the watch strap.

In fact, in the classic type of attachment, with two horns, the bar is spring-loaded, and a non-professional has great difficulty in pulling its ends out of the holes made in the horns. In the type of central horn attachment, the blocking of the bar is most often ensured by means of small screws placed at each end of the bar. Here again, disassembly is difficult and requires, in addition to a certain habit, a small screwdriver which the consumer usually does not have.

A solution has been proposed, in which the bar is rigidly fixed to one of the horns, the other horn being mounted on a pivot, so as to be able to tilt, leaving the end of the bar free. The bracelet can thus be easily removed. The manufacture of such a device is however delicate and it is not very solid.

Des dispositifs de ce genre sont montrés en particulier dans les brevets suisses Nos. 278'045 ROLEX et 280'260 SCHWEICKERT.Devices have also been proposed previously for watches with central fixing, and the bracelet of which consists of a cord forming a loop, the loop being enclosed in the fastener. In these devices, the central horn has an opening upwards, into which the mouth of the bracelet is inserted. The opening is closed by a pivoting cover which folds down and which is held by a notch. Devices of this kind are shown in particular in Swiss patents Nos. 278,045 ROLEX and 280,260 SCHWEICKERT.

The disadvantage of such devices, in addition to the fact that they are essentially suitable for central fasteners rather than two-horn fasteners, lies in particular in the fact that a notch closure system wears out quickly. In addition, the handling of the devices in question is difficult, because the fingers have difficulty grasping the cover to open it. Finally, in known embodiments, the bar is retained at the top by the greater or lesser force of the notch closure, so that the closure must be very firm to avoid the bracelet coming out upwards.

The present invention aims to provide a watch case provided with a removable attachment device allowing an easy change of the bracelet and which is simple, reliable, and robust; it further aims to provide a device which does not wear out quickly, and which is applicable to boxes provided with two-horn fasteners.

The present invention also aims to ensure that the retention of the bar in the horns does not depend on the force of the closure.

L'invention est définie dans les revendications. The invention is defined in the claims.

The drawings show, by way of examples, two embodiments of the invention.

Figure 1 is a top view of a box according to the invention, with a cover folded down on the left side, and without cover on the right side.

Figure 2 is a cross-sectional view along B-B of a watch case horn according to the invention, with part of the cover folded down.

Figure 3 is a partial view in longitudinal vertical section along A-A of a box according to the invention, with the cover closed.

Figure 4 is an identical view, with the cover open.

The box according to the invention has one, or preferably two, removable fastening devices each comprising two horns 1. Each horn has a notch 2. It would be possible to place two notches, or three, or even more, in each horn . The usefulness of such multiplication is doubtful, however. A bar 3 is placed in the notch. The bar is intended to fix the bracelet 4 to the box. The notch 2 is open on the top of the horn, that is to say on the side of the upper face of the watch, or in other words still on the side of the watch dial. The cut is made, for example, with strawberries. Its shape is such that a pull printed on the bracelet and transmits the bar downwards, that is to say in the direction and direction which normally result from wearing the watch on the wrist, tend to keep the bar in the 'notch. In the embodiments shown in the drawings, the notch has a opening 11 on the top, and a recess 6 whose longitudinal axis is substantially directed along the plane of the portion of the bracelet which is close to the horn. The bottom of the recess 6 has a semi-circular section, the diameter of which corresponds to that of the bar. The latter is housed in this recess, and a flange 13, which completely covers the recess, prevents the bar from going up and out of the recess. The opening of the recess in the direction of the box is however open on the opening 11, so as to allow the insertion of the bar. This opening of the recess in the direction of the box must be blocked when the bar is in place. To this end, a pivoting cover 5 is fixed by means of a pivot 8 between the horns. The pivot 8 is placed closer to the box than the bar 3. The pivoting cover has, on each side, protrusions 9 shaped so as to be inserted in the openings 11 when the pivoting cover is folded down. In order to avoid that a pressure exerted on the bar in the direction of the box tends to cause the opening of the cover, the axis of the pivot 8 is placed in the longitudinal plane 7 of the recess 6, or above, i.e. in the direction of the top of the box. In this way, any pressure exerted by the bar in the direction of the box on the protrusions 9 does not tend to open the cover. In order to keep the cover in place when it is closed, it is therefore not essential that the closure be extremely firm, unlike what is the case with the notched devices mentioned above. In the notched devices, there is by definition a male part which is inserted into a female part, after having passed over an obstacle. The passage of the obstacle is done thanks to the elasticity of the male part, or of an element integral with the male part, and / or thanks to the elasticity of the obstacle itself, or of an element attached to the obstacle. In general, the retraction of the male part relative to the obstacle is low, because the elasticity of the parts in question is limited. This elasticity is even lower than the said pieces are massive. It follows that even minimal wear of the parts is sufficient to seriously weaken the firmness of the closure.

To ensure a closure not very subject to wear, it is preferable to use a device in which a spring gives the pressure necessary for the insertion of a lug in a hollow. Indeed, a spring ensures the lug a fairly long stroke, and thus easily compensates for the wear of such a lug. In the embodiment shown here, each horn is pierced right through with a cylindrical hole 12, the outer part of which has a thread 14 and the part which opens on the inside of the horn a tightening 16. A cylindrical tube 17 containing a spring 18 and having a lug 19 is introduced from the outside of the horn. The edge of the cylinder is blocked by the tightening, and the lug protrudes inside the horn. The lug has a rounded shape. A screw 15 is then screwed from the outside to hold the cylinder in place. The cover laterally has a cavity 10, placed so that, when the cover is lowered, the lug, after having retracted into the cylinder on passing the edge of the cover, comes to be placed under the pressure of the spring in said cavity. In the embodiment shown here, each horn is provided with such a device, and each cover has two cavities, that is to say one on each side. It would obviously be possible for only one of the two horns to be provided with a lug, a single cavity being formed on one side of each cover. It would also be possible to place several lugs per horn, the corresponding side of the cover having several corresponding cavities. The advantage of the spring-loaded lug device compared to one of the notch devices already known and previously described lies in the fact that the wear of the lug and the corresponding cavity does not cause appreciable weakening in the firmness of holding the cover in place. Indeed, the high elasticity of the helical spring allows a fairly long stroke of the lug, so that, in comparison, the thickness of material removed by wear is minimal and is not felt.

The lateral protuberance 9 is slightly extended so as to protrude on each side of the horns, which facilitates gripping by the fingers of the user and allows easy closing and opening.
