Definitions
- the invention relates to a hollow cylinder according to the preamble of the first independent patent claim, which hollow cylinder can be manufactured with an unchanged manufacturing method with any predetermined height and / or the height of which can subsequently be varied as desired.
- Hollow cylinders of various diameters and heights are used in a wide variety of applications.
- An example of such an application is the winding up of flat, at least limitedly flexible objects in a scale formation, for example the winding up of printed products such as newspapers, magazines, brochures or parts thereof, which are often wound up into hollow cylindrical winding cores for the purpose of intermediate storage.
- printed products rolls are easy to manipulate and stack and therefore represent a popular intermediate storage form.
- a winding core in the form of a hollow cylinder used for this purpose is described, for example, in the publication EP-0453765 (F296) by the same applicant.
- Printed product reels can easily be stacked in layers of lying reels if the reel core does not project axially over the reel, that is, if the axial extension of the winding core is not greater than the width of the wound products.
- the winding technique is most problem-free when the axial height of the winding core is not less than the width of the wound products, such that the innermost products in the winding over their entire width on the outer surface of the winding core and thus be held in a defined position.
- the winding technology can be used optimally if the male height of the winding core is matched as precisely as possible to the width of the products to be wound up.
- winding cores with an outer jacket surface that is as flat and uninterrupted as possible are preferable to winding cores with outer jacket surfaces interrupted in any way.
- the object of the present invention is to create a hollow cylinder, in particular a hollow cylinder for use as a winding core for winding printed products, which can be easily produced with any axial dimensions (heights) and the height of which can be easily changed by the user.
- the hollow cylinder whatever its axial height, should have the most closed surface possible and the height adjustment should be infinitely variable.
- the hollow cylinder according to the invention is at least in three parts: it has a central part and an end ring adjoining it axially on both sides.
- the middle part consists of at least one piece of a band-shaped profile, the length of which is arbitrary and which is formed into a closed spiral in that, for example, interlocking form-fitting means are arranged on the narrow sides of the band-shaped profile and that with the aid of these form-fitting means the turns of the spiral in Areas of the narrow sides of the profile lying against one another are positively connected to one another.
- These shaping means advantageously extend continuously over the entire length of the narrow sides of the profile.
- the end rings have at least one step on one of their end faces, that is to say their axial extension increases stepwise at a circumferential point and changes continuously over the rest of the circumference from an extension which corresponds to one side of the step to an extension which corresponds to the other side of the stage.
- the height of the step is substantially equal to the axial extent of the band-shaped profile piece, which forms the central part, the spiral part.
- the stepped end face of the end rings is provided with form-locking means which can be connected to the form-locking means in each case one of the narrow profile sides, such that these end faces can be positively connected to narrow profile sides.
- a piece of the profile of any length is now brought into a cylindrical shape of any axial height by spiral arrangement and positive connection of the narrow sides of the profile arranged side by side between the spiral windings, the diameter of the spiral corresponding to the diameter of the end rings.
- the end rings are connected to the spiral part produced in this way, in that the spiral part is positioned and positively connected on both sides to an end face of an end ring such that one end of the profile piece comes to lie in one step of an end ring.
- the profile can have any length and since the mutual position of the steps of the two end rings is arbitrary, the axial height of the hollow cylinder to be produced can be arbitrarily and continuously specified or adjusted over the length of the profile.
- the band-shaped profile and the form-fitting means provided on its narrow sides designed in such a way that a profile piece with a predetermined length can be separated from the profile without complicated aids, for example by simple cutting, that the profile piece can be separated by simple means, for example from Hand, can be brought into the intended, spiral shape and connected to the end rings and that the positive connections between the narrow profile sides and between narrow profile sides and end ring end faces can be released again without complicated aids, for example by hand, is not only the manufacture of the hollow cylinder arbitrary axial height, but also the change in the axial height of such a hollow cylinder is very simple.
- the minimum height of the hollow cylinder corresponds to the height of the two end rings if they are brought together without a spiral part in such a way that the steps of their one end face lie one inside the other and they are connected to one another with the aid of the form-fitting means arranged on these end faces.
- the spiral part can consist of one profile piece or of a plurality of profile pieces adjoining one another in the spiral.
- the band-shaped profile is, for example, an extruded quasi-endless plastic profile that is either flexible enough to be formed into a spiral of a given diameter or that is preformed during extrusion to form an open spiral (without connection between the narrow sides that can be positioned next to one another), whereby the diameter of the preformed spiral more or less corresponds to the diameter of the end rings provided, depending on the deformability or elasticity of the profile.
- a comb can be provided on one narrow side and a groove on the other narrow side, such that when the comb snaps into the groove with elastic deformation of the comb and / or the groove, and advantageously with simple means again forms detachable, positive connection.
- the end rings can also consist of plastic and have the same form-fitting means on one end face as the narrow profile sides.
- the end rings can also consist, for example, of metal, in which case the form-fitting means of the end faces are to be designed accordingly in accordance with the elasticity of the end ring material, which may differ from the elasticity of the profile material.
- the two end rings are different in that the positive locking means of one ring can be connected to the positive locking means on one side of the narrow profile, while the positive locking means of the other end ring can be connected to the positive locking means of the other Profile narrow side are connectable.
- FIG. 1 Further embodiments of the hollow cylinder according to the invention are hollow cylinders which have an additional ring (central ring) in addition to the two end rings.
- This central ring has two stepped end faces, which are advantageously provided with the same form-locking means, and the hollow cylinder then consists of the central ring, spiral parts adjoining it on both sides two end rings, the end rings being provided with the same positive locking means. If the profile spirals of the two spiral parts rotate in the same direction (both left-handed or both right-handed), the two end rings are congruent at least in the area of the stepped end face, if the two spirals rotate in opposite directions (one left-handed, the other right-handed), the two end rings Mirror images of each other. Of course, several middle rings and more than two spiral parts are also conceivable.
- the spiral part can also consist of two or more parallel profile pieces (two- or multi-start spiral), with two or more steps each having to be attached to the end faces of end rings and, if appropriate, middle rings for such an embodiment.
- Cylinders with cross sections other than circular, for example with an elliptical cross section, are also conceivable. Cylinders with a cross-section that changes over height are conceivable with sufficient elasticity of the profile, but are more difficult to manufacture. In order to produce truncated cones or similar bodies, the slope would have to be adjusted accordingly for different heights or end rings with different diameters would have to be provided.
- Figure 1 shows the five parts of an exemplary embodiment of the hollow cylinder according to the invention as a view transverse to the axis of rotation.
- the hollow cylinder is a winding core for the production of printed product rolls.
- the five parts are: two end rings 1.1 and 1.2, two spiral parts 2.1 and 2.2 and a middle ring 3.
- the end rings 1.1 and 1.2 each have a stepped end face 11 with a step 12 and an outer end face 13 which, for the production of stable stacks, can be equipped, for example, with a tooth profile in such a way that the tooth profiles of superposed winding cores interlock.
- the spiral parts 2.1 and 2.2 each consist of a profile piece 22, the length of which corresponds to five full spiral windings, such that the two profile ends 21.1 and 21.2 lie in the same radial position, which is in no way a condition for the hollow cylinder according to the invention, but is purely coincidental . Both spiral parts 2.1 and 2.2 shown are clockwise spirals.
- the center ring 3 has two step end faces 31.1 and 31.2, each with a step 12.
- the winding tape is positioned in the center of the central ring (hatched area 32). So that the winding tape is really positioned centrally with each axial extension of the winding core, it is necessary that the profile pieces 22 for the two spiral parts 2.1 and 2.2 are in each case of the same length. On the other hand, the relative length of the two profile pieces allows the axial position of the middle piece in the winding core and thereby also the axial position of the winding tape to be adjusted.
- the height (axial extent) of the steps 12 of the end rings 1.1 and 1.2 and the central ring 3 corresponds to the width (axial extent) of the profile piece 22.
- All five parts of FIG. 5 have the same outside diameter, but this is not a requirement.
- the end rings with flanges on their end faces 13 facing away from the spiral bodies, which flanges have a larger outer diameter than the spiral pieces and could serve to hold coiled objects laterally.
- two center rings each with a winding tape and three spiral pieces, and to adjust the axial position of the winding tapes by the relative lengths of the three profile pieces.
- Figure 2 shows in section parallel to the axis of rotation of the hollow cylinder a part of an end ring 1.1, the band-shaped profile piece 22 and part of the central ring 3.
- In the cuts are on the end faces 11 and 31.1 of the rings 1.1 and 3 and on the narrow sides of the profile piece 22 running positive locking means visible.
- It is a comb 4 on the end ring 1.1 and on one narrow side of the profile piece 22 and a corresponding groove 5 on the middle ring 3 and on the other narrow side of the profile piece 22.
- the two rings 1, 1 and 3 are in the area of the step cut so that the positive locking means 4 and 5 are shown on two levels (on both sides of the step).
- the groove 5 widens towards the inside after a narrower mouth region and the comb 4 has a thinner neck part and a head part thickened compared to the neck part, the thickened head part fitting into the enlarged inner region of the groove.
- Groove 5 and comb 4, or their expansion / narrowing and thinner / thicker parts are to be coordinated with one another with regard to the elasticity of the materials used in such a way that the comb 4 can be inserted into the groove 5 and again with elastic deformation of the groove walls and / or comb it can be removed from it, but the comb 4 forms a sufficiently stable, form-fitting connection in the groove 5.
- the profile can be extruded spirally in such a way that the spiral turns are elastically pressed against one another by a corresponding prestress, it is not necessary to design the form-fitting means on the narrow profile side in such a way that the turns can be connected to one another. It is then sufficient, for example, to design the groove and comb in such a way that they merely prevent the turns from being radially displaced relative to one another and from axially compressing the spiral.
- At least one of the positive locking means i.e. either the groove 5 or the comb 4 is provided continuously over the entire narrow sides of the profile 22 and, if possible, around the entire circumference of the rings 1.1, 1.2 and 3, while the other of the positive locking means alternates with interruptions can be provided. If both positive locking means (groove and ridge) are arranged alternately with interruptions, the free choice of the cylinder diameter may no longer be guaranteed.
- the profile 22 can be solid as shown, but it can also have a cavity extending over its entire length.
- Figures 3 and 4 show yet another embodiment of the groove-shaped form-locking means of rings (end ring or middle ring) which consist of a more elastically deformable or mechanically stronger material than the profile piece.
- rings end ring or middle ring
- a center ring made of a mechanically stronger material is advantageous for the use of the hollow cylinder as a winding core because of In this application, the center ring represents the part that actually carries and because the crane created by the tension of the winding tape acts on it, while the axially outer parts of the core only have a supporting function.
- FIG. 4 shows a section through the step region (section line IV-IV, FIG. 3), on which the interruption 14 in the inner groove wall 5.1 is shown.
- FIG. 5 also schematically shows an exemplary embodiment of the hollow cylinder according to the invention already mentioned at the beginning.
- This embodiment has only two end rings 1.1 and 1.2 and a spiral part 2.
- the spiral part 2 is composed of a plurality of profile pieces 22 which abut one another at the abutting points 23. If the closed outer surface is not a condition for a particular hollow cylinder, it is also possible to allow gaps 23 between the profile pieces at the joints.
- FIG. 6 shows another embodiment, also mentioned at the beginning, with a two-start spiral part 2, which consists of two spiral profile pieces 22.1 and 22.2 arranged one inside the other.
- the end rings 1.1 and 1.2 each have two corresponding stages 12.1 and 12.2.

Abstract
Description
Dabei zeigen:
- Figur 1
- Ansicht mit Blickwinkel quer zur Rotationsachse der fünf Teile eines hohlzylindrischen Wickelkerns mit vorgebbarer bzw. einstellbarer axialer Höhe als beispielhafte Ausführungsform des erfindungsgemässen Hohlzylinders;

- Detailansicht von beispielhaften, nutförmigen Formschlussmitteln an Endring oder Mittelring (Stufenbereich);
- Figur 4
- Schnitt durch die Formschlussmittel gemäss Figur 3 (Schnittlinie IV - IV, Figur 3);
