Definitions
- the invention relates to a spine for holding a stack of sheets together according to the preamble of claim 1.
- These sheets can be paper, plastic, or cardboard.
- the binding ridges of the prior art have a back part which extends in the longitudinal direction of the back and fingers which are arranged at a distance from one another on one side of the back part and extend transversely to the longitudinal direction of the binding back from the back part and together with the back part form loops which pass through holes in the ones to be bound Leaves can be passed through.
- the back part and the fingers together are a one-piece elastic body made of plastic. The finger ends extend at least so close to the back part that the leaves cannot slip out on them unintentionally.
- bindings are usually punched out of polyvinyl chloride film (PVC film) and then heated and rolled into a cylindrical shape. This results in a total of about 15% cutting waste based on the total amount of semi-finished film used as the starting material: when cutting the semi-finished film into strips, when punching out the individual ridges, when cutting the trimmings to the desired length.
- PVC film polyvinyl chloride film
- PVC is the most suitable material for the punching and rolling process, but brings with it environmental problems in the form of poisonous gases when incinerating waste.
- the round profile created by the rolling causes a curved and optically unfavorable outer profile of the stack of sheets, especially with larger diameters.
- the object of the invention is to provide a method for producing an elastic binding spine, in which any sprayable and in the hardened state, elastic plastic can be used and with which the binding spine can be produced inexpensively and disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
- the binding spine should be designed so that it can be produced by the method according to the invention and that the profile of the binding spine and the bound stack of sheets can be designed to be variable and visually appealing.
- the binding spine should be designed so that there is a safeguard against accidental slipping out of the leaves.
- the back 1 has a back part 6 which extends in the longitudinal direction of the back and fingers 8, which are arranged on one side of the back part 6 at a distance from one another and extend transversely to a longitudinal axis 4 of the back 1 from the back part 6, as shown in FIG.
- the longitudinal axis 4 of the spine 1 extends in the longitudinal direction of the spine.
- the fingers 8 are curved, each of the fingers 8 forming a loop 10 together with the back part 6.
- the finger ends 14 are opposite to the other side of the back part 6, seen in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis 4, in a non-overlapping manner.
- the back part 6 has protrusions 16 on its other side, which are spaced apart from one another and extend away from the back part 6 transversely to the longitudinal axis 4.
- the loop-shaped fingers 8 are arranged offset with respect to the projections 16 such that the finger ends 14 of the loop-shaped fingers 8 protrude into the spaces between the projections 16.
- the back part 6 and the fingers 8 are together a one-piece, injection-molded body.
- the production of the binding spine 1 by injection molding saves material compared to the punching process of the prior art.
- the material from reject parts or other unusable parts can be returned to the injection molding process.
- plastic granulate is used as the starting material instead of plastic film, there is no manufacturing step, namely the production of plastic film semi-finished products.
- any injectable or thermally deformable material which is elastic in the hardened state is also suitable as the raw material; polyethylene is preferably used. In terms of disposal, this is more environmentally friendly than polyvinyl chloride (PVC), since the combustion of polyethylene produces fewer toxic fumes.
- PVC polyvenyl chloride
- PVC can also be used for cost reasons.
- the injection molded binding spine 1 can be used in any suitable e.g. rectangular, elliptical, round or triangular profile can be formed. According to the preferred embodiments shown, the side of the binding spine 1 facing the stack of sheets 17 is flattened so that the sheets lie flush with one another.
- the binding spine 1 is designed so that it can be produced simply and inexpensively by the injection molding process. Therefore, the fingers 8 are shaped such that the finger ends 14 on the other side of the back part 6 do not lie opposite one another overlapping, because in the event of an overlap, the injection molding tool would be too complicated and expensive. In principle, however, an overlap is possible.
- the injection mold then has an undercut.
- Each of the fingers 8 has two straight parallel side edges, which are located in planes perpendicular to the longitudinal axis 4 of the spine 1.
- Each of the projections 16 also has two straight parallel side edges, which lie in planes which are perpendicular to the longitudinal axis 4 of the spine 1, such that the side edges of a finger 8 extend along the side edges of the projections 16 opposite them in the longitudinal direction of the spine, which are the fingers 8 surrounded in the longitudinal direction.
- the projections 16 are parallel to the fingers 8.
- the edges of the finger ends 14 are substantially straight and do not touch the other side of the back part.
- the fingers 8, the projections 16 and the back part 6 preferably have edges or edge surfaces which are essentially either in planes perpendicular to the longitudinal axis 4 or are parallel to the longitudinal axis 4.
- the fingers 8 and the projections 16 preferably have the same width in the longitudinal direction of the truss.
- the projections 16 extend away from the other side of the back part 6 in a predetermined length which is at least three times the thickness of the fingers 8, preferably at least 1/2 centimeter. This results in an increased bending stiffness of the spine, since the straight side edges of the interlocking fingers 8 and Support projections 16 against each other when the binding spine is bent by its own weight or by the weight of a stack of sheets bound by it. There is no such support effect if the protrusions are too short.
- long projections increase the security of the spine 1 against opening of the lock, which is formed by the fingers and projections which interlock in the longitudinal direction of the spine.
- the binding spine 1 serves to hold together and bind a stack 17 of sheets 18, as shown in FIG. 2. These sheets can be paper, plastic, or cardboard. In the present case, 1 paper pages 18 are bound with the binding spine.
- the binding spine 1 shown in FIG. 2 is a further embodiment of the invention, it having an essentially rectangular profile in this embodiment. This enables an optically appealing, almost rectangular profile of the paper stack 2.
- the loop-shaped fingers 8 are bent open manually by a special device (not shown) or, if the number of loop-shaped fingers 8 is small, until the originally loop-shaped fingers 8 are partially or completely straight and they are passed through holes 19 in the paper sides 18 can be pushed.
- the straight-curved fingers 8 spring back into their loop-shaped starting position when released and hold the stack 17 of paper pages 18 together.
- the Finger ends 14 extend at least so close to the back part 6 that the paper sides 18 cannot accidentally slip out on them.
- a narrow u-shaped slot or l-shaped slot 20 on the longitudinal ends of the spine between the side edges of a finger 8 and the side edges of the projections 16 surrounding this finger 8 and between the finger ends 14 and the other side of the back part 6 is present, which lies on the side of the binding spine 1 pointing away from the stack 17.
- this slot 20 is tooth-shaped due to the presence of the projections 16 along the length of the truss, it is ensured that when the stack 17 is opened, no paper sides 18 slip off the loop-shaped fingers 8 and detach from the stack 17 through the slot 20.
- the paper sides 18 are displaceable along the loop-shaped fingers 8, in the opened state, on the one hand, the free end edges of the projections 16, which are parallel to the longitudinal direction of the binding spine, and on the other hand the edge of one side of the back part 6 each has a stop for the paper sides 18 form.
- the slot 20 must be wide enough so that the parts of the injection molding tool filling the slot 20 are not damaged by the high surface pressure which arises during injection molding. On the other hand, the slot 20 must be narrow enough to prevent sheets from slipping out of the binding spine 1.
- the fingers 8 form the largest part of the circumference of the loops 10.
- the binding spine 1 has a bar 21 which extends in the longitudinal direction of the binding spine 1 and which is attached to the finger ends 14 of the loop-shaped fingers 8 and to the back part 6 of the binding spine 1, as shown in FIG.
- the binding spine 1 has bores 22, into which plug pins 24 which are fastened to the bar 21 or are made in one piece with it are inserted.
- the strip 21 can also be attached to the back part 6 or to the fingers 8 in another way, for example by means of an adhesive connection, a high-frequency welding or another connection method.
- this strip 21 is optically advantageous because it covers the slot 20 between the loop-shaped fingers 8 and the back part 6. On the other hand, it prevents the fingers 8 and the back part 6 from separating.
- the strip 21 can be punched or cut, or it can be injection molded. It can be attached to the back part 6 and to the loop-shaped fingers 8 or only to one of these parts.
- the strips 21 can be produced in different colors for different bindings 1.
- the binding spine 1 has two cover pages attached to it, which protrude transversely from the bar 21.
- a cover page 26 covers an upper side of the stack 17 and another cover page 28 a lower side of the stack 17.
- the one cover page 26 is made of a transparent film, while the other cover page 28 is made of cardboard.
- the two cover pages 26, 28 can also be made in one piece, in which case they then extend around the back of the stack and are fastened to the bar 21.
- the two cover pages 26, 28 and the strip 21 can be made together as a one-piece body or the cover pages 26, 28 are attached directly to the back part 6 and / or to the fingers 8.
- FIG. 5 shows a further embodiment of a spine 1 according to the invention, in which the finger ends 14 and the other side of the back part 6 lie opposite one another with a radial distance dr overlapping transversely to the spine body plane.
- the fingers 8 are provided with reinforcing ribs 25 in order to increase the resistance of the spine 1 against opening.
- the back part 6 is provided with a reinforcing rib 25 in order to increase the bending stiffness of the back 1 in the longitudinal direction.
- the reinforcing ribs 25 can be formed by bead-shaped hollow ribs, which form "waves", or by local thickening of the material on the spine 1. The latter preferably applies. Such a thickening of material is not in the prior art possible, which uses foils that are formed by a punching and rolling process.
- the injection molding tool has groove-shaped recesses, through which the flow tendency of the injection molding material is increased. Thanks to the improved flow properties of the injection molding material, fewer injection points are necessary, which in turn makes the injection molding tool cheaper.
- the ribs 25 are preferably formed on the inside of the spine 1.
- an arrangement of the ribs 25 on the inside has the advantage that the outer surface of the spine is smooth and flat, so that the spine 1 can be handled by handling devices, e.g. pneumatic suction pads, can be better absorbed.
- the groove-shaped recesses are then arranged on the outer surface of the core of the injection mold and not on the inner circumferential surface of the outer shell, as a result of which the injection mold becomes cheaper, since external machining is generally cheaper than internal machining.
Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a spine for holding a stack of sheets together according to the preamble of
These sheets can be paper, plastic, or cardboard.
The binding ridges of the prior art have a back part which extends in the longitudinal direction of the back and fingers which are arranged at a distance from one another on one side of the back part and extend transversely to the longitudinal direction of the binding back from the back part and together with the back part form loops which pass through holes in the ones to be bound Leaves can be passed through. The back part and the fingers together are a one-piece elastic body made of plastic. The finger ends extend at least so close to the back part that the leaves cannot slip out on them unintentionally.
These bindings are usually punched out of polyvinyl chloride film (PVC film) and then heated and rolled into a cylindrical shape. This results in a total of about 15% cutting waste based on the total amount of semi-finished film used as the starting material:
when cutting the semi-finished film into strips,
when punching out the individual ridges,
when cutting the trimmings to the desired length.
PVC ist für das Stanz- und Rollierverfahren das geeignetste Material, bringt aber bei der Müllverbrennung Umweltprobleme in Form von giftigen Gasen mit sich.PVC is the most suitable material for the punching and rolling process, but brings with it environmental problems in the form of poisonous gases when incinerating waste.
The round profile created by the rolling causes a curved and optically unfavorable outer profile of the stack of sheets, especially with larger diameters.
The object of the invention is to provide a method for producing an elastic binding spine, in which any sprayable and in the hardened state, elastic plastic can be used and with which the binding spine can be produced inexpensively and disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. For this purpose, the binding spine should be designed so that it can be produced by the method according to the invention and that the profile of the binding spine and the bound stack of sheets can be designed to be variable and visually appealing. In addition, the binding spine should be designed so that there is a safeguard against accidental slipping out of the leaves.
This object is achieved according to the invention by the characterizing features of
- a) The manufacture of the binding spine in the injection molding process results in a material saving of approximately 15% compared to the punching process of the prior art. The material from reject parts or other unusable parts can be returned to the injection molding process.
- b) Since plastic granulate is used as the starting material instead of plastic film, one is omitted Manufacturing step, namely the production of semi-finished plastic films.
- c) Any sprayable and in the hardened state elastic plastic is suitable as raw material, not only PVC. This is more environmentally friendly and flexible.
- d) The injection molded binding spine can be formed in any suitable, for example rectangular, elliptical or triangular, profile. As a result, visually appealing shapes and profiles of the binding spine and the bound paper stack can be produced. In the case of injection-molded binding spines, it is possible to choose a profile which, in addition to the savings mentioned under a), can save a further 10% material.

The
In the preferred embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the
The loop-
The
Since plastic granulate is used as the starting material instead of plastic film, there is no manufacturing step, namely the production of plastic film semi-finished products.
However, any injectable or thermally deformable material which is elastic in the hardened state is also suitable as the raw material; polyethylene is preferably used. In terms of disposal, this is more environmentally friendly than polyvinyl chloride (PVC), since the combustion of polyethylene produces fewer toxic fumes. However, polyvenyl chloride (PVC) can also be used for cost reasons.
Another advantage of the injection molding process is that the injection molded binding
The
Each of the
In the embodiment of FIG. 1, the
The
The
During binding, the loop-shaped
Since the plastic from which the
The
In order to save material and to increase the elasticity of the fingers, in the preferred embodiment of FIG. 1 the
The
On the one hand, this
The
For color coding or in order to be able to distinguish bound
In the embodiment of FIG. 3, the binding
If a

Vorzugsweise trifft letzteres Zu.
If the binding spine has 1
The
