Abstract

The cutter consists of two levers (6,7) articulated by a pivot (8) and having a spring (9) to hold them apart. One of the levers supports an anvil (11), while the other has a blade holder (16) to which a detachable blade (18) can be fitted. The blade holder has a tip (22) to cover the point of the blade, which is of a type commercially available and supplied for cutting tools. The blade is held in place by two centering pins (19) and a cover plate (20) fixed by a screw (21).

Claims (12)

  1. Cutting pliers for plastic profiles, rubber gaskets and the like and comprising two levers (6, 7) joined together on a spindle (8) in which one of the levers (6) supports an anvil (11) whereas the other lever (7) is fitted with a blade holder (16) on which a blade (18) is movably fixed, characterised in that the levers (6, 7) are kept apart by a spring (9) and in that the blade holder delimits a protection nose (22) at its extremity, said nose extending beyond the extremity of the blade (18) whose free extremity is thus protected by the nose which extends beyond the front point of the cutting edge of the blade (18) and delimits with the blade a protected disengaging notch (28) sufficiently wide so that a part cut by the front extremity of the cutting edge of the blade cannot be marked by the blade holder (16).
  2. Pliers according to claim 1, characterised in that the blade (18) has the shape of a trapezium.
  3. Pliers according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the blade (7) is a standard blade usually used with cutting devices.
  4. Pliers according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the blade is held by centering studs (19) that also keep a counter-plate (20) pressed against the blade holder (16) via a removable nut (21).
  5. Pliers according to claim 4, characterised in that the counter-plate (20) is formed with prominent protuberances (27) to prevent pivoting motion of the blade (18).
  6. Pliers according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterised in that the blade (18) is placed in a housing (17) of the blade holder (16).
  7. Pliers according to one of claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the anvil (11) is formed with a plate whose rear edges define standing-up edges (12, 13) disposed at right angles.
  8. Pliers according to one of claims 1 to 7, characterised in that the anvil is made of a synthetic material, typically polyurethane or elastomer.
  9. Pliers according to one of claims 1 to 7, characterised in that the anvil bears a mark (14) for carrying out straight cuts.
  10. Pliers according to one of claims 6 to 9, characterised in that the housing (17) containing the blade is symmetrical to allow mounting said blade in any direction.
  11. Pliers according to one of claims 1 to 10, characterised by a latch (23) for keeping the pliers in a closed position.
  12. Pliers according to one of claims 1 to 11, characterised in that the anvil (11) is formed by sectors provided with a graduation.
