Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an improved slat structure for a vertical blind, comprising a slat strip, a hanging/clamping plate associated with an upper end of the slat strip, a weight member associated with a lower end of the slat strip and a weight magazine receiving the weight member.
  • the slat structure is assembled in latching manner instead of the conventional stitching manner and the length of the slat strip can be easily adjusted as necessary.
  • the stitching operation is eliminated, the assembling procedure is simplified and the manufacturing time and cost are reduced.
  • the components of the slat structure are more firmly engaged with one another without easy slipping or displacement.
  • a conventional vertical blind includes an upper beam 10 and multiple latching members 11 suspending under the upper beam 10 for holding multiple vertically arranged slats 20.
  • An upper end of each slat 20 is folded and stitched with a stitch line 23 to wrap an upper support plate 21 which has a central slot 211.
  • the folded upper end of the slat 20 is formed with a notch 24 for exposing the slot 211 of the upper support plate 21 so as to engage with the latching member 11.
  • a lower end of the slat 20 is also folded and stitched with a stitch 23 to wrap a weight member 22 so as to keep the slat 20 suspending under the upper beam 10.
  • the upper support plate 21 and weight member 22 are wrapped and held in the upper and lower ends of the slat 20 by the stitch lines 23, while two lateral sides of the upper support member 21 and weight member 22 are left open. Therefore, when the slat 20 swings left and right due to blowing wind or other causes, the upper support member 21 and weight member 22 are likely to laterally slip out of the slat 20.
  • the stitching of the slat 20 complicates the assembling procedure of the blind and in case of any mistake of the stitching operation, the stitch lines must be torn away for restitching. Furthermore, if the mistake of stitching is too serious to correct, the whole slat may need to be discarded. Therefore, it is not economic and practical to assemble the blind in such a manner.
  • the blind can be easily assembled and any mistake of the assembling procedure can be easily corrected without discarding the whole slat.
  • the slat is firmly assembled without the possibility of easy slipping so that the appearance of the blind can be kept tidy.
  • a slat structure comprising a slat strip, a hanging/clamping plate, a weight member and a weight magazine, wherein the upper end of the slat strip is punched with three holes and the hanging/clamping plate is foldable at a folding line which divides the hanging/clamping plate into a horizontal portion and a vertical portion. A middle section of the horizontal portion is cut to form a lug adjoining the folding line.
  • the horizontal portion of the hanging/clamping plate is formed with three latching holes while an inner side of the vertical portion of the hanging/clamping plate is disposed with three latching bosses for extending through the three holes of the upper end of the slat strip and squeezing into the latching holes of the horizontal portion to lock the hanging/clamping plate on the slat strip.
  • the weight member has two lateral projections and the slat strip is folded by a certain loops to wrap the weight member and define a length of the slat structure.
  • the lower end of the slat strip with the weight member is plugged into the weight magazine with the two lateral projections inserted into two orifices of the weight magazine to fixedly engage the weight member with the weight magazine. Because the conventional stitching operation is eliminated, the assembling procedure of the present slat structure is simplified and the manufacturing time and cost are reduced. In addition, the components of the slat structure are more firmly engaged with one another without easy slipping or displacement.
  • the slat structure 20 of the present invention has an upper end punched with three holes 21 and a hanging/clamping plate 30 made of plastic material by integral injection molding.
  • the hanging/clamping plate 30 is foldable at a folding line 31 which divides the hanging/clamping plate 30 into horizontal portion and a vertical portion. A middle section of the horizontal portion is cut to form a lug 32 adjoining a middle section of the folding line 31.
  • the lug 32 is formed with a central transverse slot 33.
  • the horizontal portion of the hanging/clamping plate 30 is formed with three latching holes 34 while an inner side of the vertical portion of the hanging/clamping plate 30 is disposed with three latching bosses 35 for extending through the three holes 21 of the slat 20 and then squeezing into the latching holes 34 of the horizontal portion to lock the hanging/clamping plate 30 on the slat 20 as shown in Fig. 3. Accordingly, the assembling procedure is simpler and more reliable than that of the conventional slat structure.
  • a weight member 40 having two lateral projections 41 and two transverse sanded rough strips 42 formed on each of a front and a back sides of the weight member 40 is wrapped in a lower end of the slat 20, whereby the weight member 40 is not likely to slip away by means of the frictional force between the rough strips 42 and the slat 20.
  • the lower end of the slat 20 with the weight member 40 is plugged into a weight magazine 50 made of plastic material by integral molding and having an upper opening 51 and two lateral orifices 52 as shown in Fig. 3.
  • the two lateral projections 41 of the weight member 40 are inserted into the orifices 52 of the weight magazine 50 to fixedly engage the weight member 40 with the weight magazine 50 as shown in Fig. 4.
  • An upper beam 10 of the vertical blind is installed with multiple suspending latching members 11 for holding the lugs 32 of the hanging/clamping plates 30 to form the blind as shown in Fig. 5.
  • the length of the slat 20 is determined by the number of the loops of the lower end of the slat 20 wrapping the weight member 40. Therefore, the assembling procedure can be easily and quickly accomplished and in case of incorrectness of the length, the loops of the lower end of the slat 20 can be easily unfolded to adjust the length of the slat 20. Moreover, since the stitching operation is eliminated, the assembling procedure is simplified and the manufacturing time and cost are reduced, while the components of the slat are more firmly engaged with one another without easy slipping or displacement.
