Description
The invention relates to a chemical oxygen device according to the preamble of
Chemical cartridges for breathing apparatus are known in the prior art. Such a chemical cartridge is described in DE 26 35 376 C2. In this embodiment, the chemical bounded by an upper and lower space is flowed through by the exhaled air through an end and outer surface of the chemical volume and reaches a breathing bag as breathable air via a central tube provided with holes on the circumference.
The disadvantage here is that, in addition to the insufficient flow through the chemical and the associated limitation of the duration of use of such devices due to incomplete use of the chemical during use, there is a considerable strain on the wearer of this respirator due to the need to overcome high breathing resistance.
An improved chemical cartridge for respiratory protective devices, which overcomes the disadvantage of insufficient flow and thus leads to better use of the chemical, is known from DE 41 26 685. According to this solution, two pipe sockets are arranged in the chemical cartridge so that even peripheral areas of the chemical are more reliably flowed through by the exhaled air.
Disadvantages of this solution are that, with this improved solution, a period of use that is independent of the operating conditions must be specified with a safety reserve and that the user of these respiratory protective devices also has to overcome high breathing resistance.
In the case of commercially available chemical oxygen devices, the particle filter is arranged directly on the inhalation valve. As a result, the filter resistance must be overcome when the user inhales.
The state of the art also includes chemical oxygen devices, which are offered with a time-controlled consumption display, whereby for safety reasons an incomplete use of the chemical must be calculated during the time of use, since a time control can only ever be independent of the conditions of use.
The invention is therefore based on the object of improving the conditions of use of chemical oxygen devices by reducing the breathing resistance and by means of a consumption display which shows the still available supply of breathing gas at all times.
The advantages achieved with the invention are; that a predetermined amount of chemical for the generation of oxygen is used optimally and regardless of the conditions of use, which means that a longer period of use for the breathing apparatus is possible.
Further advantageous embodiments of the invention result from the subclaims.
The invention is explained in more detail using an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing. The figure shows a schematic representation of an embodiment of the chemical oxygen device according to the invention.
As can be seen from the figure, the chemical oxygen device is operated in circulatory breathing.
It consists of a portable housing (1) in which two chemical cartridges (2), the chemical as a CO₂ binding and O₂ releasing substance, e.g. Potassium hyperoxide contained, are arranged side by side.
The chemical cartridges (2) are connected on the exhalation side to a breathing bag (3) for the exhaled air, at the inlet of which there is an exhalation valve (5) in which a blower (8) and on the wall of which a pressure relief valve (11) is arranged. On the inhalation side, the chemical cartridges (2) are connected to a breathing bag (7) for the inhaled air, a particle filter (6) at the inlet and an inhalation valve (4) at the outlet. To supply the fan (8) with energy, there is an energy source (10) in the housing (1), e.g. a battery or an accumulator arranged.
To ignite the chemical in the chemical cartridges (2), ignition devices (12) are arranged on the bottom thereof. Blower (8), energy source (10) and the ignition devices are electrically connected to an evaluation unit (9).
The flow through the individual components of the chemical oxygen device is shown by arrows in the drawing.
When exhaling, the operator of the chemical oxygen device according to the invention only needs to overcome the breathing resistance of the exhalation valve (5). The blower (8), which is used in chemical oxygen devices for the first time, overcomes the breathing resistance of the chemical cartridges (2) and the particle filter (6).
The inventive arrangement of the particle filter (6) at the entrance of the inhalation bag (7) achieved that the operator only has to overcome the breathing resistance of the inhalation valve during inhalation and not, as is customary in solutions of the prior art, by connecting the inhalation valve and filter additionally the breathing resistance of the particle filter (6).
The conditions of use of the chemical oxygen device according to the invention are further improved by the evaluation unit (9), which displays the available supply of breathing gas at all times. The display can e.g. by evaluating the device parameters of the blower (8) and the resulting consumption of chemical in the form of the remaining stock.
Die Auswerteeinheit (9) dient weiterhin der Anzeige des Ladezustandes der Energiequelle (10) und der Auslösung der Initialzündungen über die Zündvorrichtungen (12).The evaluation unit (9) also serves to display the state of charge of the energy source (10) and to trigger the initial ignitions via the ignition devices (12).
The chemical cartridges (2) are designed as double-jacketed containers, which are equipped with a cooling medium, in order to cool the warm inhalation gas produced by an exothermic reaction.
