Abstract

A mealtime aid device including a portion (70') forming a handle and a number of containers (e.g. 76) joined to the upper end of the handle by releasable securing portions (74, 78).

Description

The subject of the present invention is a device for taking meal.

More specifically, the invention relates to a device which allows the user to maintain, with one hand, preferably several containers containing various dishes and, preferably, a glass while leaving the other hand free to handle the utensils necessary to take these dishes.

This device is also very useful during receptions where the guests are not seated, for example the openings, the "lunches", buffets, but also in all situations where the user wants to eat but the availability of a table is not possible, so than in several public places such as station halls, trains, stadiums, queues of cinemas, and also quite simply in front of the television.

The term "container" used below refers to any type of an object which can contain food whatever its form or the material of which it is composed, for example dishes, trays, plates box, this list is of course not exhaustive.

The term "glass" used below refers to any type any object which may contain liquids, whatever its form or material of which it is composed as: glass, goblet, ice cream cones, this list is of course not exhaustive.

Several types of containers, plates, trays, meal trays in food or plastic cardboard already exist on the market. It is true that all can contain food and some can be used with a glass or goblet to eat standing or sitting without a table.

  • la transmission de chaleur à la main qui tient le récipient, lorsqu'on consomme des mets chauds ;
  • la stabilité très précaire du verre quand il est simplement posé sur l'assiette (problème de barycentre surélevé) même si son pied est encerclé par un alvéole ;
  • le déséquilibre de l'assiette provoqué par une masse et un poids importants, tel qu'un verre plein, qui se trouvent sur sa périphérie ;
These solutions which bring some advantages to the consumption of meals in a non-seated position, such as a better grip on the plate or the possibility of accommodating or fixing a glass on the plate, nevertheless have constant drawbacks that are found in each solution, namely:
  • the transmission of heat to the hand that holds the container when consuming hot food;
  • the very precarious stability of the glass when it is simply placed on the plate (problem of raised barycenter) even if its foot is surrounded by a cell;
  • the imbalance of the plate caused by a large mass and weight, such as a full glass, which are on its periphery;
  • finally, the impossibility of reheating or cooking together various foods requiring different cooking or reheating times and others which do not require reheating or baking such as desserts.

L'invention vise à apporter une solution à l'ensemble des problèmes énoncés ci-dessus, à savoir:

  • permettre de supporter en même temps et par une seule main plusieurs récipients et de préférence un verre ou un conteneur de boisson tout en laissant la deuxième main libre pour porter les aliments à la bouche ou pour boire ;
  • éviter la transmission de chaleur entre les récipients chauds et la main porteuse ;
  • donner une complète autonomie à chaque aliment, soit par rapport aux contraintes de cuisson ou de remise en température soit par rapport à la liberté de choix du consommateur, qui peut ainsi composer son menu en choisissant des barquettes autonomes ;
The invention aims to provide a solution to all of the problems set out above, namely:
  • allow to support at the same time and with one hand several containers and preferably a glass or a container of drink while leaving the second hand free to bring food to the mouth or to drink;
  • avoid heat transmission between hot containers and the carrying hand;
  • give complete autonomy to each food, either in relation to cooking or reheating constraints or in relation to the freedom of choice of the consumer, who can thus compose his menu by choosing autonomous trays;
  • improve, therefore, catering performed outside of appropriate establishments.

Document US-A-2,920,804 describes a device for taking meal comprising handle means capable of being grasped manually, said means extending vertically and a single container for receiving food.

Document DE-C-905 502 describes a support device on which one can fix containers without bottom.

To achieve this goal, the device intended for taking meals, according to the invention, comprises handle means capable of being entered manually, said means extending substantially vertically, and it is characterized in that it comprises at least two containers for food, each container comprising a bottom and a side wall and the handle means comprising means for joining to temporarily connect each container substantially at the upper end of the handle means.

We understand that in this way the containers corresponding to the dishes chosen can be simultaneously held with one hand while having the other hand available to grab the food.

According to a first embodiment, the means forming handle define an internal recess at least open to its upper end for receiving glass-forming means. We see that with this improved embodiment the user has in addition of the drink contained in a glass which is kept vertical so suitable by the means forming a handle.

In addition, as the glass is directly introduced into the means forming a handle, very good retention of the glass is obtained since the user's hand holds the meal-taking device by this handle.

Said securing means can be produced by example male / female, that is to say that the bottom of the containers has a projection (protrusion) which fits into a housing having the same perimeter as the projection and being placed on the arms integral with the central handle; or conversely, said means of joining can also be of the female / male type, that is to say that the outer bottom of the receptacles has an identical shaped housing to the projection which is positioned at the free end of the radiating arms; or again, said securing means can be constituted by rails, for example in the shape of a T, placed on the sliding arms in cracks appropriate to their dimensions and which are on the bottom of containers. The opposite situation where the rails would be placed on the bottom of the containers and the cracks on the arms can be easily considered. Many other ways of securing these parts exist.

According to another embodiment, the central handle can be limit to a simple cylinder or truncated cone open to both ends, of sufficient height to be grasped and supported by a carrying hand and, preferably, provided with a vertical slot allowing to pass inside the foot of a cup and to house the latter thanks to support the cut on the upper edge of the handle. In addition, this slot gives the handle a certain elasticity which allows tightening of the cup when such a container is used. The upper edge has circularly, and except of course where the slot is placed, an extension of its material going from the periphery towards the outside, like a crown, perpendicular to its walls, so that this extension of matter can contain in its alveoli other food containers that fit into these alveoli. This extension of material substantially perpendicular to the walls of the central handle can also contain either protrusions predisposed to receive a housing placed on the bottom of the container, either housing or openings to receive parties prominent placed on the bottom of containers containing food and thus attach to the central receptacle. This mode of realization can be achieved, in addition by techniques adapted to plastics, by stamping metals as it is practiced for the manufacture of cans.

According to a third embodiment, the central handle is a truncated cone open at its upper and lower ends. She is preferably provided with a vertical slot giving it a opening from top to bottom and which allows it to support a cut, because it is possible to pass the foot of the cup through this slot which also allows it to have a little flexibility to better hold the cut housed in this receptacle. This receptacle is provided on its edge upper of vertical legs intended to be inserted in notches which are provided on the edge of the container placed on the side intended for lean on the side of the receptacle, so that the fixing of the container to the receptacle is ensured by the engagement of these legs in the notches and by pressing this same side of the container on the wall of the receptacle. The container which is the subject of this embodiment, as well as all the containers described in this text, can have all the suitable forms. It is desirable that the side intended to rest on the receptacle has a wall which matches the shape of the receptacle in the part where he touches it. Therefore, the force of gravity caused by the container containing the food is preferably countered either by the support of these two walls against each other, either by the system locking tabs / notches which also hold the container thanks to leverage.

In this latter embodiment, the side of the container intended to be positioned against the receptacle may have an inclination contrary to the inclination necessary to have the conical shape of the walls. It is therefore recommended to give an inclination corresponding to the other wall of the container so that the containers are nestable. Of course, in this embodiment, as well as in the others, the fixing of the container to the receptacle can be done so reverse. Vertical legs pointing down are located on the edge of the face of the container which presses against the receptacle and snaps in notches on the upper edge of the handle.

According to another embodiment, the central receptacle forming the handle is designed, in its upper part, with a shape such that the perimeter present, in certain places where we want to fix a container, a protuberance which exactly matches a concavity of the perimeter of the container, located, of course, on the wall of the container intended to rest on the receptacle. Attaching the container to receptacle is made by sliding the concave part of the container into the protrusion of the upper wall of the receptacle. This sliding of the container concavity in the protuberance of the receptacle stops when the small edge that goes around the perimeter of the container comes in press on the upper edge of the receptacle. This embodiment can also be designed in reverse. The protuberance is located on the wall of the container intended to bear against the receptacle and the concavity is on the perimeter of the upper edge of the receptacle. In this case, the top of the receptacle, and in particular the part top on which the containers rest, can have a shape different from the lower part where the hand grabs the receptacle, which it will be substantially conical. All imaginable shapes can be suitable for receptacles as well as for securing means, because the concavities and the protuberances can have various forms provided that the protuberance is partly surrounded by the concavity of so as to be retained by it in the manner of a slide in a slide.

According to a fifth embodiment, the device intended for meal taking consists of a container intended to receive other removable containers with a bottom and, in some cases, a wall lateral and gripping means forming a handle, the means of grip extending substantially perpendicular to said bottom, substantially from the center of said bottom, the length of said means sufficient to allow gripping manually. The bottom has a central portion projecting from the interior of said container defining an external housing and the means gripping consists of an extension of said bottom projecting out of the external face of said central portion and housed entirely in said external housing.

In this case, the means for gripping the container are part integral with the latter and are located substantially in the middle of the face exterior of its bottom. Preferably, the bottom extends from the periphery towards the center, gradually going up towards the middle so tapered, so that the handle, while being of sufficient length to be graspable, preferably does not exceed the most bottom of the container, to allow it, among other things, a autonomous stability on a flat surface. This advantageously results that the open upper part of the handle has an opening of diameter allowing it to receive a cup or a glass.

The bottom of this container may be provided with partitions limiting cells allowing the accommodation of other removable containers which can be secured to the container by means of securing the male / female type or vice versa or simply laid in these alveoli.

According to an alternative embodiment, the handle means may have the shape of a cone trunk open at its end upper and closed at its lower end. In this case, the slot formed in the side wall extends into the bottom of the handle along a radius of the bottom. This slit extends beyond the center of the bottom. The foot of the glass is thus held in the slot in the bottom of the handle.

According to a second embodiment of the invention, the handle means are constituted by a beverage can substantially cylindrical shape.

We understand that in this way the containers corresponding to the dishes chosen can be simultaneously held with one hand while having the other hand available to grab the food.

From the upper end of the beverage can are fixed, according to a first embodiment, extensions of its material, preferably in the form of vertical legs intended for fit into notches which are provided on the edge of the container placed on the side intended to rest on the side of the beverage can, so that the fixing of the container on the beverage can is ensured by the engagement of these legs in the notches and by the support of this same side of the container on the wall of the beverage can.

The stability of the container, thus hung on the beverage can, is obtained by pressing against the beverage can on the wall of the container where the notch is provided. Said wall will take, on this occasion, a form rounded with a concave curvature of the same dimension of the curvature convex of the beverage can to allow, thanks to the embedding of volumes, better stability.

According to a second embodiment, no modification is not necessary on the beverage can because fixing the container to the box is done by clipping the space created between the edge of the container and the tongue placed on the edge of the container and which is substantially parallel to the wall of the container intended to rest against the wall of the box on the edge of the upper end of the box like a rail.

This method of fixing the containers to the handle can also be used with the first mode of implementation.

Of course in this case also the stability of the container is obtained by pressing against the beverage can on the wall of the container where the tongue is provided. Said wall will take, on this occasion, a form rounded with a concave curvature substantially the same size that the convex curvature of the beverage can to allow, thanks to the embedding of volumes, better stability.

The device meal intake consists of a handle 10 which preferably defines a housing 12 to receive a glass 14, of several containers 16 containing food and securing means 18 between the handle 10 and the removable containers 16. According to this first mode of embodiment, the handle 10 is of slightly frustoconical shape. His lower end 20 is closed while its upper end 22 is open. The securing means consist of arms radiant 24 integral with the upper edge of the handle 10. At their free end 26, the arms are provided with a recess 28 suitable for cooperate with a corresponding projecting part 30 provided in the bottom of the containers 16. Preferably, the arms 24 form only one piece with handle 10 and they are defined to provide a bond rigid between the handle 10 and the removable containers 16.

In Figure 2 we find the connecting device between the handle 10 'and the containers of figure 1. The difference consists in the shape of the handle 10 '. It is open at its two ends 22 and 20 '. In addition, its frustoconical wall preferably has a slot longitudinal 32 extending over its entire length. Slot 32 has a sufficient width to let the foot 34 of a glass 36 pass. The glass itself is supported on the upper edge of the handle and the base of the foot is outside the handle.

Figure 3 illustrates another embodiment where the edge upper part of the handle has a circular shape, except where the slot 32 is placed, an extension 40 of its material going from the circumference outward perpendicular to its wall. These material extensions, which could be flat and contain means fastening such as notches, hooks, rails, protrusions or the like, are in this example advantageously dug at certain places 42 for receiving containers 44 which have a bottom whose shape is adapted to these hollows.

La figure 5 montre trois récipients 58a, 58b et 58c fixés sur la poignée 50.Figures 4 and 5 illustrate an embodiment in which the handle 50 has the same shape as in FIG. 2 and has a slot longitudinal 52. The upper edge 54 of the handle is provided with tabs vertical attachment 56 regularly distributed around its periphery in number equal to that of the receptacles 58 to be joined. Each container 58 has a portion of wall 60 which can follow the external shape of the handle 50. It also has a flange 62 projecting out of container 58. This rim is provided with a slot 64 in which can penetrate one of the hooking lugs 56. To secure the container 58, it suffices to engage the tab 56 in the slot 64. The surface 60 comes in support on the external wall of the handle 50. FIG. 5 shows three containers 58a, 58b and 58c fixed on the handle 50.

The containers 58a, 58b, 58c may consist of boxes of canned or other closed container of food already cooked. These containers must have the hanging slots. Of preferably, the container comprises, in addition to the extension comprising the slot, a second lower extension which bears on the wall handle.

The handle 70 has, near its edge upper 72, prominent hooking pieces 74 which extend radially out of the handle. These parts are for example in the form dovetail. Each receptacle to be joined 76 presented to its securing end a recess 78 which has a conjugate shape that of the attachment pieces 74. The attachment pieces 74 and the recesses 78 are of sufficient length to provide support allowing a stable connection of the containers on the handle. Of preferably, the container 76 has an outer rim 80. The rim 80 by relying on the upper free edge 72 of the handle 70 ensures immobilization of the containers in the vertical direction. Good heard, one could foresee that it is the container which presents the part hooking and that it is the handle which presents the recesses of conjugate form.

La pièce 94 peut être complétée par une jupe cylindrique 104 raccordée à la surface conique 98.Figure 7 shows another embodiment in which the upper edge 90 of handle 92 is connected to a piece of revolution 94 serving to secure removable containers 93. This piece 94 has the shape of a crown defined by a first conical surface 96 connected to a second conical surface 98 of reverse direction. These two conical surfaces define, above of them, an annular space 100 adapted to receive the containers 93. preferably, the handle 92 is defined by a frustoconical side wall and a bottom, the cavity thus produced being able to receive a cup. The annular space may include radial partitions defining cells to receive each container. In addition, the underside of the conical surface 96 defines an annular space 102 surrounding the handle 92. This space allows the engagement of the hand around the handle 92. Part 94 can be completed with a cylindrical skirt 104 connected to the conical surface 98.

It is distinguished by the embodiment of the means forming a handle. The handle 110 is in the form of a cone-shaped trunk. She is open at its upper end 112 but closed by a bottom 114 at its lower end.

The slot 116 made in the side wall of the handle is extends by a radial slot 118 formed in the bottom 114. From preferably, the slot 118 ends in a circular opening 120 arranged substantially in the center of the circular bottom 114 and suitable for leaving pass the bottom of the glass.

It goes without saying that this embodiment of the handle could be used in the embodiments of Figures 2, 3, 4 and 6.

It may be possible, as part of the so-called restoration "fast" or "take away", whether the containers are distributed, by example, directly to motorists who do not need to leave their vehicle to take possession of their packaged meal in said containers.

In this case, it can be extremely convenient for them that, somewhere on the vehicle, receptacles are fixed, for example in the shape of a ring, in which we can nest the means of grip supporting these containers. Thus, the motorist or his passengers will have available in the vehicle the pick-up device meal which can therefore be fixed independently and removable for the consumption in the vehicle or to be transported temporarily no need for a hand to be occupied with this task.

This variant is also very useful for all consumers who, after buying their meals in the device, have the need to transport elsewhere using their vehicle. To this end, the means forming a handle are shaped so that they can be introduced into the medium support such as a ring.

La surface 216 vient en appui sur la paroi externe de la poignée 210.FIG. 9 shows the principle of the invention according to a first embodiment of the second embodiment. The device meal taking consists of a handle means 210, consisting of a generally cylindrical beverage can, provided on the circular edge of its upper end with means of joining together, represented in this figure by hooking lugs vertical 212 evenly distributed around its periphery in equal numbers to that of the containers 214 to be joined. Each container 14 has a portion of wall 216 which can follow the external shape of the handle 210. It also has a flange 218 projecting out of container 214. This rim is provided with a slot 220 in which can penetrate one of the hooking lugs 212. To secure the container 214, it suffices to engage the tab 212 in the slot 220. The surface 216 comes to bear on the external wall of the handle 210.

The latter includes, on the perimeter of its upper end 224, an edge 226 projecting vertically out of plane 224. Each container 228 has a wall portion 230 which can match the external shape of the handle 222. Each container 228 also has a rim 232 which projects substantially from parallel to the upper part of the wall 230 and is directed downwards. To secure the container 228 to the handle means 222, it just juxtapose the container 228 to the handle means 222 keeping the container slightly higher than the upper end handle means 222, so that the flange 232 is a little higher than edge 226, then slide container down 228 taking care that the edge 226 fits properly in the ledge 232.

Alternatively, the containers may have different value center angles, the sum of the angles at the center which can be equal to 360 °.

Figure 11 shows, in a cross-sectional view, a container 234 secured to the handle means 236, according to this second embodiment, where we partially see the rim 238 of the container which, like a slide, is engaged on its rail represented by the edge 240 of the upper end of the means forming handle.

La figure 12 montre, en vue de dessus, quatre récipients 228a, 228b, 228c et 228d solidarisés aux moyens formant poignée.FIG. 12 shows, in top view, four containers 228a, 228b, 228c and 228d secured to the handle means.

In this representation, the securing means and the handle means are secured by simple fitting of a cylindrical sheath 246 in the means forming a handle 244. The upper end of the sheath is preferably bordered by a circular rim 248 which fits on the edge of the upper end of the handle means as on a rail. But this embedding on the edge is not a necessity when the shape of the sheath is designed to follow the horizontal curve defined in the upper part of the wall of the drink can placed just below from the upper end.

The n removable containers are arranged in room 42 in crown shape.

The depth of each container should be determined for leave free a height H of the side wall of the beverage can sufficient to allow it to be grasped despite the presence of containers.
