Schließlich soll der Kantenschutz die Griffigkeit der Platte und damit auch die Handhabbarkeit und Transportfähigkeit eines mit der Platte versehenen Möbels oder Küchengerätes, z.B. Tisch, Kühlmöbel, Waschmaschine, Wäschetrockner oder dergleichen, erleichtern. Dem letztgenannten Zweck dient die weiterhin häufig anzutreffende Maßnahme, den Kantenschutz über die Unterseite der Platte hinaus zu verlängern, so daß die Platte sicher untergriffen werden kann. Bei Küchengeräten, bei denen die Abdeckplatte vornehmlich als Abstell- und Arbeitsfläche dient, wird mit dem nach unten gezogenen Kantenschutz das Ziel verfolgt, den Spalt zwischen der Platte und dem Gerätegehäuse abzudecken. Auch sind in diesem Fall an der Unterseite der Platte häufig Funktionsteile, wie Hülsen, Clips und dergleichen aus Kunststoff angespritzt, mittels der die Platte am Gerätegehäuse befestigt ist. Es ist dann insbesondere eine Trennung nach Materialien notwendig, so daß es bei Abdeckplatten bzw.
