Definitions

  • the present invention relates to the field of cleaning of structures and more precisely to equipment for cleaning surfaces high above ground level such as vertical surfaces and vaults, even of complex contours, such as the walls of tunnels, road equipment, panels and the like.
  • auxiliary signalling means such as reflectors, signs indicating curves or deviations and the like which require periodic cleaning to remove deposits and blackening and guarantee their effectiveness.
  • a further problem is that, for reasons different from the above, it is often necessary to clean the walls of train and subway tunnels. These, in fact, are used as supports for electrical cables and equipment which must be kept clean in order to prevent the dirt that deposits on them, often of corrosive nature, from damaging them over time, considerably reducing their possible duration.
  • cleaning heads in the form of brushes, mounted on supports anchored to self-moving means such as motor-vehicles, tank trucks, etc..
  • This type of cleaning involves some inconveniences which often make it inapplicable. This is the case, for example, when the excessive mechanical action of the brushes on the surfaces to be cleaned can cause chipping of the enamel, bending of reflectors, breaking of covers of electrical equipment, etc..
  • the brushes are not able to clean well complex surfaces such as those which are undulated or have interstices that are difficult to access.
  • a particular object of the present invention is to provide equipment for cleaning the internal walls of tunnels, underpasses, road equipment, etc.
  • the equipment according to the present invention for the cleaning of surfaces high above ground level, the novel feature of which is that it comprises an articulate arm which can be connected to self-moving means and is formed by a plurality of jointed segments in succession having a plurality of nozzles which, in use, are turned towards the surface to be cleaned.
  • the articulate arm comprises means for orienting the jointed segments so that they are substantially parallel to the envelope of the surface to be cleaned while the nozzles are connected to means for the supply of cleaning fluid under pressure.
  • the means for orienting the jointed segments advantageously comprise hydraulic actuators, while at least one of said segments is connected to the self-moving means, for example a tank truck, by means of a pair of lifting arms rotationally connected to one another, their reciprocal angular position being controllable by a hydraulic actuator.
  • equipment 1 is mounted on a tank truck 2 transporting a solution comprising a solvent specific for the removal of deposits from the circular vault surface of a tunnel 3.
  • the equipment comprises a support base 4 integral to tank truck 2, a pair of lifting arms 5 and 6 rotationally connected to one another, the first of which is fixed to base 4 whereas the second holds an articulate arm 7, positioned parallel to the profile of tunnel 3.
  • articulate arm 7 comprises a plurality of jointed segments in succession, in this specific case three, indicated with 8, 9 and 10, having a plurality of spray nozzles 11 turned toward the surface of the tunnel itself.
  • a further segment 12, also part of articulate arm 7, can be united with the preceding segment 10 and is also provided with nozzles 11.
  • Segment 12 is anchored to the side of the tank truck 2 by means of a fixed support 13, through which the supply ducts to nozzles 11 pass.
  • the equipment comprises means for orienting the jointed segments 8, 9 and 10 of articulate arm 7 to be substantially parallel to the surface of tunnel 3.
  • These means comprises an actuator 14 which varies the angle between lifting arms 6 and 5, and an actuator 15 which varies the angle between lifting arm 6 and segment 8 of articulate arm 7, segment 9 of which is rotationally connected to lifting arm 6 itself.
  • actuator 14 which varies the angle between lifting arms 6 and 5
  • actuator 15 which varies the angle between lifting arm 6 and segment 8 of articulate arm 7, segment 9 of which is rotationally connected to lifting arm 6 itself.
  • Segment 8 on the other hand, can be inclined independently of the others and can assume the position illustrated in figure 1, thus adapting to a circular vault tunnel, or alternatively can assume the position of figure 5, adapting to a square vault tunnel.
  • the equipment according to the invention when in an operative position (figures 1, 2 and 3), is positioned in a plane substantially orthogonal to the direction of advancement of tank truck 2. In this way, it is possible to spray surface 3 of the tunnel in a uniform manner with the cleaning solution which comes out of nozzles 11 in concomitance with the advancement of the tank truck.
  • the equipment 1 can be brought to a plane parallel to the direction of advancement of the tank truck 2, following the rotation of the support base 4 around its own vertical axis.
  • the support base 4 In order to accomplish this movement, it is sufficient, for example, for the support base 4 to comprise a thrust bearing (not shown) or another equivalent connection able to be rotated.
  • the position, shown in figure 4, in which the equipment is made most compact, is reached after lifting arm 6, following the shortening of actuator 14, assumes the lowest position possible, bringing articulate arm 7 into a substantially horizontal position.
  • Fixed segment 12 (not shown in figure 4) of articulate arm 7, instead, has been separated beforehand from the adjacent segment 10 and put in the least encumbering position along with support 13, for example following a rotation of the base around vertical hinges not shown.
  • Segments 8, 9, 10 of articulate arm 7 have, as can be seen in figures 1 and 4, a slightly arched form, since they are specially designed to orient nozzles 11 in a direction substantially radial to the surface of the circular vault of the tunnel.
  • the arched form is not particularly accentuated in order to allow also a substantially rectilinear disposition with respect to the wall of a square vault tunnel, like the one in figure 5.
  • segments 8, 9, 10 and 12 of articulate arm 7 can be of a form different from that illustrated, just as it is possible for said segments to be of a different number, as a function of the size of the surface to be covered.
  • Nozzles 11 are connected to means for supply of the cleaning fluid under pressure coming from tank truck 2.
  • the capacity of the tank truck allows for increased autonomy by making it possible to clean even long tracts of roads and highways without need for refills.
  • two nozzles are provided for, indicated with 11a and 11b, for spraying two different cleaning solutions, one of which can even be water.
  • the first, 11a (fig. 7) , is supplied by a duct 16 communicating with a tank 17 of cleaning solution visible in figure 4, and can be partially shut by a faucet 18.
  • the second nozzle, 11b (fig. 8), is positioned according to a plane parallel to the first and is supplied by a duct 19, communicating with tank 20 of tank truck 2.
  • the presence of two lines of nozzles instead of only one allows for a greater flexibility of cleaning, in particular when two different cleaning solutions must be used, or when it is necessary to rinse to remove the cleaning solution from the cleaned walls.
