A tongue device provided on a grooved rail switch, wherein the tongues (2) are detachably connected with standard rails and the tongue (2) in the clamping region (3) is fixed by means of at least one clamping wedge (5) which is insertable from above and braceable against a lateral edge of the tongue (2) in a direction substantially normal to the running edge, characterized in that the lateral tongue edge located opposite the clamping wedge (5) is designed as a slanted abutment surface (7) and overlapped by an oblique surface (8) of a supporting body (6) or retention part for the tongue (2) in the clamping region, and said oblique surface (8) of the supporting body (6) is inclined relative to the running plane at an acute angle α which is smaller than the exterior angle β of the oblique surface (10) of the supporting body (6), which oblique surface (10) cooperates with the clamping wedge (5).

A tongue device according to claim 1, characterized in that the tongue (2) on its base located opposite the running edge comprises recesses or elevations cooperating with elevations, inserts (15) or recesses (17) provided in the supporting body (6), in the longitudinal direction of the tongue (2) in the manner of a stop delimiting displacement.
  3. A tongue device according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the clamping wedge (5) is connected with the supporting body (6) via a screw bolt (12).
  4. A tongue device according to any one of claims 1, 2 or 3, characterized in that the clamping wedge (5) and the screw bolt (12) are flush covered by a filling wedge (13) connected with the supporting body (6).
  5. A tongue device according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the stops for delimiting the longitudinal movement of the tongue (2) are formed by inserts (15) connected with the supporting body (6) and encompassed with play by recesses provided in the base of the tongue (2).
  6. A tongue device according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the clamping wedge (5) comprises at least one threaded hole oriented parallel with the axis of the screw bolt (12) within the clamping wedge.
