Description

The invention relates to a heat exchanger, in particular a refrigerant evaporator, with a soldered block consisting of pairs of a U-shaped guide and collecting channels for an embossed plates forming a heat exchange medium, with corrugated fins arranged between the pairs of plates and with corrugated fins arranged on the end faces of the block with intermediate corrugated fins. plate-shaped side parts.

In such heat exchangers, additional connections for a supply line and a discharge line for refrigerant must be provided. For this purpose, it is known (US Pat. No. 5,137,082) to use a flattened piece of pipe between an embossing of the last plate belonging to the collecting duct and a side part.

It is also known (US Pat. No. 5,125,453) to insert special connecting elements between two pairs of plates, which are also plate-shaped.

Furthermore, it is known (US Pat. No. 5,176,206) to provide two of the plate pairs with a special embossing shape in the region of the collecting channels, which together form a connection.

The invention has for its object to improve a heat exchanger of the type mentioned in manufacturing.

This object is achieved in that the side parts in the region of the collecting channels are provided with an embossed profiling which, with a cover plate closing the last plate, forms a chamber which has a connection to at least one of the collecting channels.

Such a chamber can be easily integrated into the side parts without the need for additional components. As before, the side part can be assembled in a known manner before the soldering with the plates and the corrugated fins to form a block, which is then soldered as a whole in an oven. The chamber formed in this way can be used, for example, as a deflection between two or more collecting channels. In addition, it is possible to provide the profiling with a receiving opening for a connecting piece, so that connections for supply or discharge are created without the use of additional components, i.e. can be integrated into one or both side parts.

The heat exchanger shown only partially in Fig. 1, in particular a so-called plate evaporator for an air conditioning system of a motor vehicle, has a plurality of embossed plates (10, 11). These successive plates (10, 11), which each follow one another in mirror image, are also connected to one another in succession. The plates (10, 11), which are embossed from sheets, in particular sheets made of an aluminum alloy, are designed in a known manner such that a pair of plates (10, 11) forms a U-shaped guide for a refrigerant, whereby the legs of the U-shaped guide end in collecting channels. The plate (10) shown in dashed lines forms with the preceding plate (not shown) corresponding to the plate (11) between circumferential, adjacent edges, this U-shaped guide, for which purpose the plates are embossed in a manner not shown but known from the prior art are provided, which have only a relatively small depth. The plates (10, 11) are provided in the area of their upper ends with deeper embossments (12, 13, 14, 15) which have a greater embossing depth and which lie against one another with their outer surfaces. These embossments (12 to 15) have through holes, so that these embossments (12 to 15) form collecting channels for the heat exchange medium with the aid of the through holes. Corrugated ribs (16) are arranged between the plates (10, 11) and are likewise formed from a sheet, preferably made of an aluminum alloy. In this respect, the heat exchanger corresponds to the design known from the prior art, so that reference can be made to the prior art for further details.

The plate (11) located at the outer end is covered with a flat cover plate (17). This cover plate (17) closes the embossments (13, 14) surrounded by flat surfaces. The cover plate (17) is followed by a side part (18), which is also formed from a sheet of an aluminum alloy. The side part (18) has a substantially U-shaped shape and corresponds in width to the width of the plates (10, 11) and the cover plate (17). It is supported on the cover plate (17) with a lower flange (19) and an upper flange (20). A corrugated fin (26) is arranged in the area between the flanges (19, 20) and connects the cover plate (17) to the side part (18). The lower flange (19) can be omitted, since the support by means of the corrugated fin (26) is sufficient.

In the area of the collecting channels, i.e. of the embossments (12 to 15), the side part is provided with an embossed profile (21). The embossed profile (21) is surrounded on three sides with an edge, namely with the flange (20) and the edges (22, 23) with which it rests on the cover plate (17). On the remaining end face, the embossed profile (21) is open and thus forms with the cover plate (17) a connection opening (24) for a connection piece of an inlet or outlet. The chamber formed by the embossing (21) and the cover plate (17) with the connection opening (24) communicates with the collecting duct formed by the embossments (12, 13) via an opening (25) in the cover plate (17). This chamber can thus be used in a simple manner as a connection for this collecting duct.

The opposite end of the heat exchanger is provided in a corresponding manner on the then last plate (10) with a cover plate and a side part, which also has a profile corresponding to the profile (21), while the cover plate is then provided with an opening which corresponds to that of the embossing (14, 15) formed collection channel connects to this chamber. If in the chamber between the cover plate (17) and the side part (18) partition walls are installed, other flow profiles can be provided.

The design according to the invention has the advantage that a connection or at least one connection opening (24) in the from the plates (10, 11), the corrugated ribs (16), the cover plate (17) and the side part (18) and between the cover plate (17) and the side part (18) of the corrugated rib (26) mounted block is integrated, which is held in this way with a suitable clamping device. The block thus formed is then soldered in an oven. For this purpose, it is expediently provided that the plates (10, 11), the cover plate (17) and the side part (18) and the opposite elements are solder-plated, and, if appropriate, also the corrugated ribs (16, 26).

The side part (28) of the embodiment according to FIG. 2 differs from the side part (18) only in the cross-sectional shape of the embossed profile (31), which has a semi-cylindrical shape. This profile (31) also extends on one side to the edge of the side part, while it is closed on the other side.

In an embodiment modified from FIGS. 1 and 2, it is provided that the embossing (21, 31) of the side parts (18, 28) is open to both cattle of the side part (18, 28). In this case, the "embossed" profile (21, 31) can also be achieved by appropriate folding or folding of the side part. Such profiling can accommodate connectors on both sides, ie form connection openings for connectors. In this case, a partition dividing the profile transversely is provided. This partition can be designed as an insert or as a non-deformed area between the two embossed profiles. In addition, it is also possible to use one of the two openings to close with an inserted and soldered stopper. This design has the advantage that identical side parts (18) or (28) can be used for both ends of the heat exchanger, even if the inlet and outlet are to be connected on the same side.

In this exemplary embodiment, a connection opening (34) is provided in one or both end walls of this embossed profiling (41) for a connecting piece of an inlet or outlet. Since this connection opening (34) is formed exclusively by the profiling (41), its shape can largely be chosen without regard to the end plate (17).

In the embodiment according to FIG. 4, the side part is provided with an embossed profiling (51) which is closed on all sides and which forms a chamber closed to the outside with a cover plate (17), not shown. If openings are then provided in the cover plate corresponding to the collecting channels, this profile can be used as a deflection guide for the refrigerant.
