Definitions

  • the invention relates to a printing press with a tape-shaped recording medium which can be transported through the printing area by means of a controllable drive, the recording medium carrying labels to be printed on or being separable into parts of the same size, and in particular having reading marks at a spacing between the labels or the parts. and at the outlet area of the printing machine for the recording medium there is at least one detector for the labels or the sections, in particular for the reading marks, which stops the drive of the recording medium in an effective state when a label or a section, in particular a reading mark, is in its detection area.
  • a printing press of the generic type has become known from EP-A-0 453 583.
  • a detector for printed labels operating on the transmission or reflection principle is attached to the output opening of a label printer.
  • the movement of the carrier tape, from which the labels are separated at a dispensing edge, is interrupted as soon as the detector detects the rear end of a label.
  • the label is then only connected to the carrier tape at its rear edge and can be removed from the printer.
  • the detector is firmly attached to the known printing press. However, since it is not required by every user - it can be omitted if the labels are to remain attached to one another after printing, so that a continuous printing operation takes place without interrupting the movement of the label tape - In many cases, the detector makes the printing press unnecessarily expensive.
  • the detector is attached to a detachable cooler, and that an electrical connection between the printing press and the holder with the detector takes place via an electrical cable, for which a corresponding socket is available on the printing press.
  • the at least one detector for the reading marks is located on a removable holder, the latter can be used to retrofit existing printing machines. It is only expedient that the printing press is designed from the start so that the cold can be attached to it in the intended place without any problems. This means that you can initially deliver the printing presses without this "special accessory” and only equip them if there is actually a need for the associated function. It is also favorable for repair purposes if you can get to the at least one detector in the simplest way and do not have to open the entire printing press first.
  • the electrical connection between the holder and the at least one detector takes place via an electrical cable, for which a corresponding socket is already present on the printing press.
  • a time delay element can be interposed so that the record carrier runs out of the printing machine a little further and the label can be removed more easily from the paper carrier.
  • the label is printed in a continuous process, but after leaving the printing area it runs on its way into the exit area through the effective area of the detector, which stops the recording medium at the moment when the label has run far enough out of the printing machine and can be taken.
  • small, dark partial areas on the label or on the record carrier carrying the label or corresponding small areas which are much lighter than their surroundings can be used as reading marks.
  • the dark or light spots or partial areas can be located both on the top and on the bottom of the recording medium.
  • the sensor must be installed accordingly.
  • reading marks small openings, in particular openings on the side open to the edge of the record carrier, are known as reading marks.
  • one reading mark is provided for each label or partial section, the distance between the reading marks viewed in the running direction of the recording medium being generally constant, just as is seen in the running direction, which is generally the case for the length of the labels.
  • the holder has two detectors, one of which is located above and the other below the printed record carrier. You can now, depending on whether the Reading mark located on the top or bottom of the record carrier, the one or the other detector ready for work. If necessary, this can be done automatically by appropriate coding of the recording medium. As a result, the printing press can be used far more universally than if only a single detector, for example above the recording medium, is arranged.
  • At least one of the detectors is a reflex sensor with transmitter and receiver and the other is possibly only a receiver.
  • rays for example light rays
  • the other detector which is located beyond the band, if a breakthrough of the band briefly permits the passage of light.
  • a record carrier with reading marks in the form of small light or dark fields is used, depending on which side of the record carrier the reading marks are on, one or the other detector can be activated and then used as a reflex sensor.
  • a reflex sensor has both a transmitter and a receiver.
  • the optional use of the upper and lower detectors or the joint use of both detectors requires that these two detectors are arranged opposite one another, above and below the pressure range, in a further embodiment of the invention.
  • a preferred embodiment of the invention is characterized in that there is at least one cable duct in each of the cross members and the at least one longitudinal member. This can be created, for example, by using hollow profiles accordingly.
  • a simplification of the assembly can be achieved by a configuration according to claims 7 and 8. The same also applies to a further development of the invention according to claim 9.
  • the small carrier plate mentioned there can be formed by a board or can carry this. It is preferably made of plastic.
  • the width of this small carrier plate can correspond to that of the transverse carrier receiving it, measured in the same direction, or it can also be smaller.
  • the height of the slot-shaped receptacle is increased in a central area.
  • the detector is plugged onto the small carrier plate, with corresponding connector pins protruding on the opposite side. If you increase the height of the slot-shaped receptacle in the central area, which can extend over about 60 to 80% of the entire length of the small carrier plate, enough space remains for the protruding connector ends and, if necessary, one separately at the small carrier plate to be attached. Electrical conductors can also be accommodated there, as far as they have to be brought up to the detector.
  • the record carrier 1 which is printed in the schematically indicated printing area 2 of a printing machine, also shown only schematically and broken off, and leaves it in the direction of the arrow 4, is subdivided into uniform sections which can be used as labels or preferably carries in the same way Labels to be printed one behind the other, which can be easily removed from the recording medium in a known manner, for example to attach them to a product or the like. This is easily possible if they are self-adhesive on the back.
  • the record carrier is provided in a known manner with reading marks for a detector device, such a reading mark being assigned to each label or part of the record carrier, for example a light or dark spot or a punched-out area in the edge area.
  • a drive not shown, which may be of a known type, provides for the transport of the record carrier through the printing press 3 and in particular also through its printing area 2.
  • the printing press 3 has an exit area 5 for the record carrier 1, which is indicated schematically in FIG. 1. It is shown in FIG 2 at the left end of the printing machine 3.
  • a removable holder 7 is placed on the front wall 6 of the printing machine 3. It consists in the embodiment of an upper cross member 8 and a lower cross member 9 and two vertical side members 10 and 11. These connect the left and right ends of the two cross members, the connection can be made for example with the help of screws 12.
  • the two lower ends of the vertical longitudinal beams 10 and 11 are connected in the manner explained in more detail below by means of an anchor plate 13.
  • the mouth of the outlet area 5 is located in the rectangle formed by the upper ends of the vertical longitudinal members 10 and 11 and the two cross members 8 and 9. The dimensions of the outlet area 5 can differ considerably from the illustration according to FIG.
  • detectors 14 and 15 are arranged so that the printed, running recording medium 1 is located between them. Their arrangement is in particular such that the reading marks on the record carrier are located on the record carrier in a region which is assigned to a straight line connecting the two detectors 14 and 15. These detectors can thus easily determine the reading marks as they pass through the recording medium 1. As soon as a reading mark is located in the space between the two detectors, the feed drive for the recording medium 1 is stopped immediately or with a predetermined, possibly even adjustable time delay.
  • the two detectors 14 and 15 can be so-called reflex sensors, each having a transmitter and a receiver.
  • the upper detector can accordingly determine reading marks which are located on the upper side of the recording medium 1, while the lower detector 15 is suitable for reading marks on the lower side of the recording medium 1.
  • the light beam or the like can only get from the transmitter to the receiver if there is a small opening, slot or the like on the recording medium, which represents the reading mark.
  • this additional device can be used very universally for the printing press.
  • each detector 14 and 15 is held on a small carrier plate 17 ( Figures 1 and 3).
  • each cross-member 8 or 9 of the holder 7 receiving a detector has a slot-shaped receptacle 18 of corresponding size.
  • the length 19 of each slot-shaped receptacle 18 corresponds to the length of the small carrier plate 17, so that this is held tightly in this receptacle 18.
  • the height of the slot-shaped receptacle 18 corresponds at its narrowest point to the thickness of the small carrier plate 17. According to FIG. 4, the slot height in the region of the carrier plate ends is increased on both sides. These height increases are designated by 20 in FIG.
  • the upper left goes directly into a cable duct 21.
  • Corresponding cable channels 22 and 23 have the lower cross member 9 and the left vertical side member 10.
  • the slot-shaped receptacle 18 has also been enlarged in the height direction in a central region 25.
  • a plug-in receptacle 28 (FIGS. 4 and 7) that opens to the front opens into the enlarged central area of the slot-shaped receptacle. It can be seen from FIG. 7 that the small carrier plate can be pushed in as far as it will go against a rear wall 30.
  • a receptacle 30 for the anchor plate 13 is inserted into this receptacle open to the left and right in the direction of the arrow 31 or 32.
  • This receptacle is a housing groove which narrows outwards, preferably in the manner of a shoulder.
  • push-through holes for retaining screws 33 and 34 are push-through holes for retaining screws 33 and 34, respectively. These penetrate the narrower area of the housing groove or receptacle 30 and they are screwed into threaded holes in the anchor plate 13. As a result, the anchor plate 13 is pulled against the holder 7 and thereby ensures the attachment of the holder to the printing machine 3 in the lower region.
  • further through holes 33 can be provided for fastening screws.
