Description

The invention relates to a terminal block arrangement consisting of two or more Terminal blocks with inserted surge protection devices and one across the side-by-side terminal blocks running in the direction of their connection, a busbar carrying a ground potential, being a contact element of each surge protective device electrically with the busbar and a additional contact element of each surge protective device electrically a busbar is connected in the respective terminal block. Such terminal block arrangements are used, for example, in control cabinets sensitive electronic components from being destroyed by those occurring in the line network Protect overvoltage pulses. When such surges occur these become an existing one with the help of the surge protection device Grounding potential supplied, the surge protective device unusable is, so that a harmful influence on those connected to the terminal block electrical and electronic components is excluded. Through the Overvoltage the housings of the usual surge protection devices change color, so that it can be seen which surge protection devices are then against intact surge protection devices are to be replaced. From the Cartalog der FUJI ELECTRIC, edition 1988, catalog no. 88029 p.81, 82 are terminal blocks known with surge protective devices, in which the contact elements the surge protective devices engage in holding elements that are electrically conductive must be and which are connected to the busbar or busbar. This Holding elements thus have both a mechanical holding function and one electrical transfer function. Therefore, when choosing materials for such Functional compromises are made. Furthermore join the known terminal blocks on several electrical contact transitions, each are connected to a corresponding contact resistance.

From US-A-2 997 685 an electrical connector assembly is known which is fixed Has mounted busbars with which contact elements of electrical plug elements be electrically contacted in that U-shaped spring elements in the Assembly of the arrangement can be placed, which is the contact force for the electrical Generate contact between the contact elements and the busbars. The U-shaped spring elements must be arranged across the busbars and are for their attachment and fixing with their own fasteners Mistake.

The present invention has for its object a terminal block arrangement of the generic type to create the low manufacturing costs has particularly favorable electrical properties due to its structure.

The object is achieved in that the contact elements of the Surge protection devices each the busbar and the busbars Contact terminal blocks electrically and directly to generate the mechanical Contact force spring elements are provided which have a U-shaped base and two opposing spring legs, extended on one side beyond the base body have, which in turn resiliently on the busbar and the busbars are plugged in and with which the contact elements on the busbar and the busbars are pressed on.

Through direct contacting of the contact elements of the surge protective devices with the busbars and busbars, depending on the design, become more conventional Terminal block arrangements of the generic type at least two Current transition points with corresponding current transfer resistances saved. The spring elements used only have a purely mechanical function, to provide the mechanical contact force necessary for a good current transfer. When choosing the material for the spring elements, you can completely focus on optimal spring properties. Furthermore, the one not needed bears Current flow through the spring elements to the aging Exclude material due to heating. This is important there where the time intervals between an exchange of surge protective devices are relatively long.

The special spring elements according to the invention are also from the point of view their manufacture and assembly particularly inexpensive. you need no own fasteners and can be used during assembly the terminal blocks are simply inserted into the housing without additional connection work are, in view of the small width of the terminal block so that they are arranged in the longitudinal direction of the busbars in the terminal block housing are. There is the further advantage that by retrofitting Terminal blocks with two such spring elements, a protective element and the Providing a busbar the function of existing terminal blocks in a simple manner can be changed or expanded.

Further refinements of the subject matter of the invention result from the Features of the subclaims.

Since terminal blocks are usually installed in standard cabinets Support rails are fixed, can be used for the application that these support rails also used as the busbars carrying the ground potential are the contacting by means of a spring element with the then in the Terminal block available, with its conductor rail in one piece electrically conductive perform connected contact foot.

In the following, exemplary embodiments will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings of the subject of the invention described in more detail.

The terminal block arrangement according to the invention consists of several side by side with the help of locking feet 18 and 19 on one DIN rail 3 fixed terminal blocks 1. In the out Plastic-made terminal block housing 10 is one Busbar 4 arranged at both ends with screw connections 12 is provided, to each of which one through the Insertion opening 11 connected conductor connected can be. At the top of the terminal block 10 there is a recess that space for a surge 2 offers. The surge device 2, e.g. a varistor, has a round, plate-like shape on its The underside is two spaced parallel to each other Contact elements 8 out. Below the surge protector 2 is located inside the terminal block housing 10 a busbar 5, which is usually perpendicular to the drawing plane by several on the mounting rail 3 adjacent terminal blocks 1 extends. By the arrangement of the busbar 5 is above the busbar 4 it is possible to do this after mounting the terminal blocks e.g. on the Insert the mounting rail 3 into the terminal blocks from above and at Need to be able to remove. The busbar 5 is through a cap 15 covered from above with the terminal block housing 10 is locked by a nose 16.

The two contact elements 8 of the overvoltage protection element 2 are through housing openings 17 in the terminal block housing 10 inserted that a contact element 8, the busbar 5th touched laterally and the other contact element a leg touches the U-shaped busbar 4 in the housing. The mechanical contact force between busbar 4, busbar 5 and the respective contact elements 8 is by Spring elements 6 generated. From Figure 2 is the enlarged perspective view of part of the power rail 4, the contact element 8 and the spring element 6 the structure of this spring element illustrates.

The spring element 6 has a U-shaped base body 20, which engages around the busbar 4 on one side. The both legs of the U-shaped base body 20 are one-sided extended upwards and form the spring legs 21 and 22. The free ones facing away from the base body and pointing upwards Ends of the spring legs 21 and 22 are convex at their ends arched to each other, so that between the facing each other Surfaces of the spring legs 21 and 22 due to the curvature a smaller distance results than that of the two legs in the area of the base body 20. The outer curvatures of the Spring legs 21 and 22 thus form two contact surfaces 23 and 24, between which the side-by-side busbar 4 and a contact element 8 of the surge protection device 2 are pressed against each other. Through the fact, that the outermost free end of the spring leg 22, which is is in direct contact with the contact element 8, of the busbar 4 is curved away to the outside, at one any necessary replacement of the surge protective device 2 an insertion of the contact element 8 between the Contact surface 23 and the busbar 4 facilitated. The spring elements 6 can be made of metal, but it is the special elastic properties are equally conceivable certain plastics for providing the to use the necessary contact force.

In Figure 3 is a construction variant of a terminal block with surge protection device shown, in which the surge protective device 2 not in a recess on the top of the Terminal block housing 10 is arranged, but laterally is located next to the housing. The busbar 4 is in this embodiment also with two terminal connections 12 provided and straight from one side to the other Side of the terminal block housing 10 out. The Busbar 4 has a U-shape in the direction of the mounting rail downward bent part 9, one leg of the U-shaped part parallel to horizontal folds 33 of the Support rail 3 is aligned. The distance of the fold 33 and the parallel leg of part 9 is dimensioned so that he essentially the distance between the two contact elements 8th corresponds to the surge protection device 2. The contact elements 8 are through side openings 35 in the terminal block housing 10 inserted, their ends touch the Top of the fold 33 and the bottom of the leg of part 9, with a spring element at each point of contact 6 is arranged so that the necessary contact forces can be applied by the spring legs 21 and 22. This arrangement of the surge protector 2 has in particular the advantage that the in the embodiment of the figure 1 busbar required to conduct the earthing potential can be omitted in the embodiment of Figure 3, if the mounting rail 3 is connected to the ground potential.

In Figure 4, a terminal block is shown in which a Contact element 8 of the surge protector 2 with a Contact foot 30 is electrically connected. The contact foot 30 met usually both the mechanical function of the clamping the terminal block on the mounting rail 3 as well an electrical connection to the mounting rail 3, which in this application as the busbar carrying the earth potential serves. As FIG. 4 shows, the contact foot has 30 one at an angle of 90 degrees to the top of the terminal block housing upstanding contact tab 32 which in simpler as from one of the contact elements 8 of the surge protective device 2 is touched laterally. The other contact element 8 laterally touches a web 31 extending at an angle from the busbar 4, with the Contact points each have a spring element 6 for providing the Contact force arranged.
