The invention relates to a control mechanism for a multi-pole electric circuit breaker, comprising:
  • a pair of parallel plates between which the mechanism is housed,
  • a toggle formed by a pair of first and second links hinged together by means of a first pivot axis,
  • a switching bar mechanically coupled to the first link, and serving as a support for the movable contacts of all of the poles, said bar being rotatably mounted around a second parallel axis, to ensure the closing and the opening of the contacts ,
  • a trigger hook pivotally mounted between an armed position and a triggered position around a third axis of the plates, while being articulated simultaneously with the second link,
  • an operating lever secured to a base articulated on a fourth fixed axis of the plates,
  • a lock cooperating with one end of the trigger hook to form a mechanical hooking in the armed position,
  • a connecting rod spring anchored between the first axis and the base of the lever,

La manette revient automatiquement dans la position fermée sous l'action du ressort d'embiellage du mécanisme.US-A-3,605,052 describes a circuit breaker of the kind mentioned in which the position of the operating handle gives a reliable visual indication of the position of the constituent parts of the circuit breaker. The operator can thus detect a bad operation, including contact welding, and any resetting or moving the lever to the open position is then made impossible by the presence of the locking lever which locks the lever in the intermediate position. The lever locking device is pivotally mounted on an axis of the plates, and is controlled by a probe depending on the angular position of the bar. This probe is formed by a simple tongue resting on the upper face of the bar. The controller returns automatically in the closed position under the action of the connecting rod spring of the mechanism.

The patent FR-A-2,262,859 also provides for an initial pre-triggering ordered in start of the movement movement of the joystick, followed by blocking of the joystick by the locking device.

The entire surface of the fork surrounds the bar when the latter is in the closed position of the contacts. In case of opening normal contacts, the bar drives the locking lever to the position of release from the start of the opening stroke. This results in an early release of the locking lever, before forming the required cutting distance between separate contacts.

The object of the invention is to provide a control mechanism for a circuit breaker positive safety, preventing any movement of the lever towards the open position, if the isolation distance between the contacts is not reached.

The mechanism according to the invention is characterized in that the locking lever has a radiating bearing surface cooperating with a protuberance of the bar to keep the locking lever in the first active position of the stop, during a first part of the opening stroke of the movable contact of each pole, and a notch for receiving said protuberance causing the unlocking the locking lever to release the base near the end of the stroke opening of the mobile contact.

The temporary blocking of the stopper is retained during the movement of sliding of the end of the protrusion along the radiating bearing surface of the locking lever until the isolating distance between the contacts is reached. The release of the base then occurs after release of the lever. locking in the vicinity of the opening limit switch.

The bearing surface of the locking lever can be shaped in an arc, centered on the axis of the bar, or a flat portion extending substantially in a direction tangent to the protuberance during the rotation of the bar during the first part of the opening race.

The base is provided with a locking projection intended to come into engagement in said intermediate position S of the lever against the stopper located in the first active position.

Other advantages and characteristics will emerge more clearly from the description which will follow, of an embodiment of the invention given by way of example not limiting, and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which:

In the figures, a multipole circuit breaker 10 with molded insulating housing 12 comprises a cut-off module 14 per pole, formed by a one-piece bulb 16 made of molded plastic, and having the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped. The bulb 16 comprises a bottom 18, a front face 20 having an orifice 22 for the passage of a contact mobile 24, two large parallel side faces 26, 28 and two small faces of connection 30, 32 parallel.

Inside the bulb 16 are two fixed contacts 34, 36 connected respectively by conductors 35, 37 connecting to a first pad 38 of a terminal connection 40, called input terminal of the circuit breaker pole, and to a second range 42 intended to be connected by a screw 43 to a third contact pad 44 of a triggering device.

Il comporte en outre un bilame 54 parcouru par le courant circulant à travers le pôle et une palette mobile 56.The triggering device comprises a magneto-thermal trigger module 46, equipped opposite the pad 44, with a fourth contact pad 48 forming part of the other terminal 50 for connecting the circuit breaker pole, called the output terminal. The trip module 46 is inserted in series in the pole with contacts 34, 36, 24 of the breaking module 14. It further comprises a bimetallic strip 54 traversed by the current circulating through the pole and a mobile pallet 56.

In the closed state of the circuit breaker, the current returns through the input terminal 40 and flows successively in the first range 38, the conductor 35, the fixed contact 34, the movable contact 24, the other fixed contact 36, the conductor 37, tracks 42 and 44, the trip module 46, contact pad 48 and output terminal 50.

Elle coopère d'autre part avec un verrou 58 d'accrochage d'un mécanisme 60 de commande à genouillère 62 et à manette 64.The triggering device further comprises a trigger bar 52 climb with limited rotation between an armed position and a triggered position in function of the position of the actuating member of the trigger module 46, which is either the bimetallic strip 54 or the pallet 56. The rotary bar 52 is moved to the triggered position as soon as the current flowing in the pole exceeds a predetermined threshold. She cooperates on the other hand with a latch 58 for attaching a control mechanism 60 to knee pad 62 and lever 64.

The mechanism 60 shown in detail in FIGS. 2 and 3 is common to all of the poles, only the handle 64 being accessible from the outside through a light 66 of passage of the housing 12, for manual control of the circuit breaker 10.

The knee switch 62 of the mechanism 60 comprises a lower link 68 articulated to a upper link 70 by a pivot axis 72. The lower link 68 of the knee switch 62 is coupled to a protuberance 74 of a switching rod 76 serving as a support for the movable contacts 24 of all the poles. The switching bar 76 is made of an insulating material and extends parallel to the trigger bar 52 in the transverse direction of the poles.

The mechanism 60 is housed between two parallel and metallic support plates 78, 80, and comprises a trigger hook 82 pivotally mounted on an axis 83 of the plates 78, 80. The free end 84 of the hook 82 is engaged in the armed position with the latch 58 to form an attachment. The upper link 70 of the kneepad 62 is articulated on an axis 86 of the trigger hook 82, and a spring 88 connecting rod is anchored between the pivot axis 72 of the toggle joint 62, and an axis 90 integral with the base 92 of the lever 64. The base 92 is shaped according to a stirrup articulated on an axis 94 of the plates 78, 80 to ensure the movement of the lever 64 between the two closing positions F and opening O.

L'ordre de déverrouillage du verrou 58 peut provenir du module déclencheur magnéto-thermique 46, ou d'un déclencheur auxiliaire, notamment à manque de tension MN, à émission de courant MX, différentiel, etc...An unlocking action of the trigger bar 52 on the latch 58 releases latching, and the mechanism 60 disarms under the detent action of a spring crankshaft 88, causing the pivoting movement of the toggle joint 62 and the rotation of the bar 76 towards the open position of the contacts 34, 36, 24 of all the poles. The lock 58 unlocking order can come from the trigger module magneto-thermal 46, or an auxiliary trip device, in particular with a lack of voltage MN, with MX current emission, differential, etc ...

According to the invention, the mechanism 60 is equipped in addition with a locking lever 96 intended to prevent movement of the lever 64 towards the open position O when the contacts 24, 34, 36 are either in a soldered state (fig. 4), or in a sectioning state (Figure 5). The locking lever 96 is pivotally mounted on a horizontal axis 98 of the plates 78, 80, and has at its opposite end a fork 100 cooperating with the protuberance 74 of the switching rod 76. A stop 102 is formed on the upper side of the lever 100, between the fork 100 and the axis 98, said stop stop 102 being able to occupy an active position or a inactive position depending on the angular position of the locking lever 96 dependent on that of the bar 76.

The internal surface of the base 92 of the handle 64 is provided with a projection 104 of blocking intended to come into engagement against the stopper 102 when the latter is in the active position.

Le rayon R (figure 5A) de cette surface d'appui 106 est nettement supérieur au rayon du fond de l'encoche 105.Referring to Figure 1A, the fork 100 of the locking lever 96 has a semi-open notch 105 in the shape of an inverted U, delimited on the left by a surface support 106 radiating, and to the right by a tooth 108. The notch 105 is arranged for conform to the shape of the rounded end 110 of the protuberance 74 of the bar 76, of so as to allow the insertion of the end 110 into the notch 105 when the bar 76 is in the vicinity of the open position of the contacts. The support surface 106 is slightly curved in an arc centered on the axis 112 of the bar 76. The radius R (FIG. 5A) of this bearing surface 106 is clearly greater than the radius of the bottom of the notch 105.

Au lieu d'être incurvée, la surface d'appui 106 pourrait également être plane, en étant sensiblement tangente à l'extrémité 110 arrondie de la protubérance 74, lorsque cette dernière est dégagée de l'encoche 105.Instead of being curved, the bearing surface 106 could also be flat, being substantially tangent to the rounded end 110 of the protuberance 74, when this the latter is released from the notch 105.

The fixed pivot axis 98 of the locking lever 96 is located on the plates 78, 80 between the spring 88 and the internal surface of the base 92 of the lever 64.

Le mécanisme 60 selon l'invention fonctionne de la manière suivante:The mechanism 60 according to the invention operates as follows:

In the armed-closed state of the circuit breaker 10, represented in FIG. 1, the handle 64 is is in the closed position F, and the contacts 34, 36, 24 are closed.

The bearing surface 106 rests on the end 110 of the protuberance 74 of the bar 76, which biases the locking lever 96 in the raised position, so that the stop 102 is in the active position in engagement against the internal wall of the base 72 of the handle 64, but nevertheless separated from the projection 104 by an angular distance predetermined.

Le nez de la butée 102 glisse le long de la paroi interne de l'embase 92 durant cette course de la manette 64.The manual opening of the contacts 34, 36, 24 of the circuit breaker 10 is caused by a pivot to the right of lever 64. Despite the raised position of the lever locking 96, imposed by the bar 76, the presence of the separation distance between the projection 104 and the stop 102, authorizes the pivoting movement of the lever 64 towards the O opening position. The nose of the stop 102 slides along the internal wall of the base 92 during this stroke of the lever 64.

After the lever 64 exceeds the PMO position of the opening dead center, the toggle joint 62 drives the switching rod 76 in rotation in the direction of Clockwise. This is normal operation of circuit breaker 10, in which the contacts separate until reaching the opening limit switch position (figure 6). Following this rotation of the bar 76, the end 110 of the protuberance 74 is no longer in contact with the bearing surface 106, but is engaged inside of the notch 105 (FIG. 6A). The locking lever 96 pivots about its axis 98 in counterclockwise, to be in a lowered position by release, which positions the stop 102 in an inactive position so as to escape the projection 104. The handle 64 can be brought into the open position O, with possibility of padlocking in this position.

Note in Figures 5 and 5A that the locking lever 96 remains held in the raised blocking position at the start of the opening stroke of the movable contact 24. The right edge of the support surface 106 is always in engagement with the end 110, which makes it possible to keep the locking lever 96 locked during a first part of the opening race. The distance between the separate contacts corresponds to the isolation distance guaranteeing the isolation. The controller 64 is found in an intermediate position S located between the PMO position in neutral opening, and the O opening position, and the projection 104 is stopped by the stop 102 of so as to temporarily lock the lever in the intermediate position S. The the locking lever 96 is released automatically when the ignition mobile 24 is almost open, which frees the coupling between the projection 104 and the stop 102 allowing the handle 64 to be brought to the open position O.

The movable contact 24 is in position closed, and the bar 76 remains stationary in the same position as that of FIG. 1. The bearing surface 106 cooperates with the end 110, which excludes any unlocking of the locking lever 96. The lever 64 is positively locked in the position intermediate S by the hooking action of the projection 104 against the stop 102, which prevents any attempt to forcefully move handle 64 to position O while prohibiting lockout.

The engagement of the radiating bearing surface 106 on the end 110 of the bar 76 keeps the locking lever 96 in the fixed raised position until the lever 64 exceeds the intermediate position S after normal separation of the contacts. The temporary blocking of the stop stop 102 is retained throughout the movement of sliding of the end 110 along the radiant support surface 106 during the rotation of the bar 76 around the axis 112. The release of the stop 102 takes place at the end opening stroke, when the end 110 is inserted into the notch 105 pivoting the locking lever 96 to the lowered position.
