Description

The invention relates to a device for treating tobacco, in particular cut tobacco, with a container, with a rotating driver arrangement which has individual conveying surfaces which are connected to a rotating body, and with inlets for steam and / or air.
For the treatment of tobacco for loosening adhering parts and / or expanding the tobacco, the so-called vibro fluidized bed process can be used, in which the tobacco is conveyed in vibratory conveyors, while steam and / or air is blown in from below, so that the tobacco is in a vibro Fluidized bed is kept in which it is in a very intensive condition exchange with the treating medium or is subjected to intense dissolving forces. It is also known to blow steam into rotating tobacco-promoting drums to loosen or expand them.

EP-A-0 215 593 has disclosed a stationary trough-shaped container for conditioning tobacco. A stirrer rotates in it, which has blades that each extend radially from a central shaft to the trough walls and axially through the entire length of the trough. The blades therefore have the shape of circumferential walls, some of which, in cooperation with the inner walls of the trough, close off tobacco subsets.
BE-A-845021 shows a cooling device for tobacco, in which an outer casing surrounds two counter-rotating drums arranged one inside the other. Both drums have blades which extend axially, that is to say in the longitudinal direction, through the entire cooling device. The tobacco is carried along by pockets which are formed by the blades of one of the revolving drums and, after a certain conveying path has been carried out, is passed to pockets in the other drum. The tobacco is also taken from the last-mentioned bags and is handed over to bags of the first-mentioned drum after executing a certain conveying path, etc.

The object on which the invention is based is a further possibility for treating tobacco for the purpose of expanding and / or dissolving / mixing in a device according to the type mentioned at the outset.
The solution according to the invention is that the container is designed as a drum, with the inner wall of which the tobacco is connected during its conveyance, and that the conveying surfaces, viewed in the axial direction, are designed as separate individual surfaces.

Further refinements of the invention can be found in the subclaims.

The advantage associated with the invention is a relatively simple construction the device in which the tobacco is nevertheless treated intensively can.

The invention is illustrated by means of exemplary embodiments explained.

B. der Schnittfläche A-A in Figur 1) angeordnet.
In FIGS. 1 and 2, 1 denotes a container in the form of a drum 2, which in the example is mounted stationary on supports 3 and 4. But it can also be rotatably supported and driven by a drive, not shown, for a rotational movement. Arranged in the center of the drum 2 and rotatably supported is a driver arrangement 6 which has individual, blade-like conveying surfaces 7, which are fastened by connecting struts 8 to a rotary body 9 in the form of a shaft 12 driven by an electric motor 11. The conveying surfaces 7 are arranged at an angle between 20 ° and 60 °, based on a surface perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the shaft 12 (that is, for example, the cutting surface AA in FIG. 1). In the figure, the conveying surfaces are, at least approximately, parts of a spiral conveyor. They can be slightly curved, but they can also be flat. In the example of FIG. 1, all conveying surfaces 7 are arranged such that they convey in the direction (arrow 15) of the axis of rotation, so that the tobacco particles fed through the tobacco inlet 14 are subjected to an at least approximately constant conveyance until they drum 2 at the tobacco outlet 16 leave.
The tobacco inlet 14 is fed tobacco via a conveyor belt 17, which enters the drum 2 on a slide 18. A deduction for the vapors with fan 21 is designated 19. The tobacco outlet 16 also has a vent 22 with a fan 23. From the tobacco outlet 16, the tobacco arrives on a conveyor belt 24.
The drum 2 is double-walled at least in its lower region U. An inner drum wall 26 and an outer drum wall 27 enclose a cavity 28 which is connected to a steam generator 31 via a line 29. The steam flowing into the cavity 28, e.g. B. saturated steam with a pressure between 1.5 and 10 bar absolute, flows through inlets 32 into the interior of the drum 2, where it intensely swirls the tobacco conveyed by the driver arrangement 6. Clumped tobacco particles are separated from each other; they can also expand due to the rapid heating. Expansion may also be desirable in the case of tobacco particles which are in themselves sufficiently separated from one another. Finally, it is also possible to use the device according to the invention to mix tobacco parts of different types, properties or conditions. The tobacco supplied can be cut tobacco made from pure tobacco leaf material or from ribs; it can also consist of large leaves or larger pieces of rib.
To separate tobacco particles from one another or for mixing, air can also be blown under pressure through the inlets 32 into the interior of the drum, for which purpose the steam generator 31 is replaced by a compressed air source. A mixture of compressed air and steam can also be supplied, in particular for detaching the tobacco particles from one another or for mixing. In the upper area 0 of the drum 2 there may also be a cavity 37 formed by two walls 34, 36, the steam, e.g. B. from the condition described for the lower region U, can be fed from a steam generator 38 through a line 39. This vapor can then also flow through inlets 41 into the interior of the drum, where it supports the loosening and / or expansion of the tobacco particles. The pressure of the steam in the upper area can also be lower than in the lower area. In addition to or alternatively to steam, air can be blown in to improve the dissolving / mixing of tobacco particles.
Instead of allowing steam to flow into the interior of the drum in the upper region 0 of the drum 2, the steam supply into the cavity 37 can only serve to heat the upper drum region 0. In this case, no inlets 41 are provided in the inner wall 34.
Above the drum 2 there is a so-called nozzle assembly 44 for supplying hot cleaning water, which has nozzles 46 which are connected in parallel to a common line 47. Line 47 is connected via line 48 to a hot water generator 49. The nozzle assembly 44 is used to supply hot cleaning water when the drum 2 is empty in order to clean the inside walls of the drum.

FIG. 3 shows a variant of the invention based on a section of the drum 2.
The conveying surfaces 7a, which are fastened to the shaft 12 by means of struts 8, correspond to the conveying surfaces 7 in FIGS. 1 and 2, while the conveying surfaces 7b are set at such an angle to a plane perpendicular to the conveying direction 15 that they convey the tobacco into convey to a lesser extent than the conveying surfaces 7a or even in the opposite direction. This means that the throughput time and thus the length of time the tobacco stays in the drum is increased. The blowing in of air or steam, the heating and the supply of cleaning water can take place as in FIGS. 1 and 2.

Das Einblasen von Luft und/oder Dampf, das Beheizen und die Zufuhr von Reinigungswasser kann wie bei den Figuren 1 und 2 beschrieben, erfolgen.FIG. 4 shows a section of a single-walled drum 2 with nozzles 50 in the drum wall 26 for blowing in air and / or steam, for the supply of which line 45 is used. The Nozzles 50, only one of which is shown, are advantageous directed into the center area of the drum 2. The blowing of air and / or steam, heating and supply of cleaning water as described in FIGS. 1 and 2, respectively.

FIG. 5 shows a variant according to FIG. 4 with inclined nozzles 50. In the example, the nozzles are inclined against the conveying direction 15 of the tobacco through the drum 2, which increases the dwell time of the tobacco.
However, the nozzles can also be inclined in the conveying direction of the tobacco through the drum.
