Definitions
- the present invention relates to an inner window reveal, in particular for roof windows, which has at least one reflecting surface.
- Windows are embedded in the roof surfaces to illuminate the attics. These windows do not serve this purpose properly. Since they are located in the sloping roof, the incident light illuminates only a small angular range below the window. In addition, the roof windows are arranged almost flush with the outer roof skin. However, the roof, especially when the top floor is insulated, is considerably thicker than the window. The inner window reveal thus has large areas framing the window, which in turn limit the amount of light in the room, since only light from a small angular range can pass through the window reveal. In the known window reveals, the angular range of the incident light is increased by the fact that the lateral surfaces of the window reveal are not perpendicular to the window surface, but widen conically towards the attic space. However, this is only possible to a certain extent, since the insulation layer and rafters have a minimum thickness must have and thus determine a maximum angle for the side surfaces.
- an inner window reveal in particular for roof windows, which has at least one reflecting surface and which is characterized in that the at least one reflecting surface has an inclination angle such that the amount of light incident in a room is increased.
- a mirrored window reveal is also known from DE-A-3,122,164. However, this serves to prevent direct sunlight. A targeted and improved illumination of the room is not achieved with the mirrored window reveal, but with a mirror optic arranged in the room. This window reveal is so arranged that the direct sunlight is first reflected back and only the remaining scattered light is optimally reflected within the room. As a result, the room is not illuminated in such a way that it appears homely as in the window reveal according to the invention.
- a window 2 is shown, which is embedded in a sloping roof surface 1, wherein it is approximately aligned with the outer roof skin.
- Window 2 is a standard commercial window with window frame 20 and window glass 21.
- the window is surrounded on the top floor side D, ie inside, by an inner reveal 3. Due to the width of the roof, this window reveal 3 has not a small area.
- the window reveal 3 consists of two side surfaces 30 and one upper and one lower surface, not visible in the figures. In this exemplary embodiment, the side surfaces 30 and the upper and lower surfaces have an inclination with respect to the window surface which deviates from the perpendicular to the window surface. As a result, the opening of the window reveal to attic room D becomes larger.
- the side surfaces 30 deviate more from the perpendicular to the window surface than in the area away from the window. In the area remote from the window, the side surfaces 30 are approximately perpendicular to the window surface, but their distance from one another is greater than the width of the window.
- This structure is achieved in that the side surfaces 30 consist of two partial surfaces 30 'and 30''which have different angles of inclination. The difference in the angle of inclination is about 20 ° in this example. However, other shapes and angles of inclination of the inner reveal are possible. To optimize the inclination of the roof, the orientation of the house and the window size must also be taken into account.
- the inner window reveal 3 has at least partially reflective surfaces.
- the side surfaces 30 are designed as mirrors.
- the side surfaces 30 exist to the commonly used wood cladding, made of a highly polished chrome nickel steel sheet. They can also be made from other reflective materials, such as polished brass, bronze, nickel, mirror glass or metal-coated plastic.
- the sheet is bent or kinked in accordance with the desired partial surfaces 30 ', 30''.
- the sheet metal has means 31 for the connection with the roof surface cladding. For this purpose, this edge is bent three times at right angles, so that a step with two shoulders is present perpendicular to the partial surface 30 ′′ remote from the window.
- This angled step can also be screwed on or fixed in another usual way.
- the sheet is simply attached to the window frame on the window side. If the window frame has a groove, the edge of the side surface is in this groove. At least the partial surface 30 ′′ remote from the window has bores 32 in the region of the edges which adjoin the upper and lower reveal.
- the side window reveal 30 is screwed onto the rafters 11 by means of these bores 32.
- the mirrored side surfaces 30 allow a larger amount of light to fall into the room. Diffuse light, which falls through the window glass 21 at a flat angle, is reflected on the side surfaces 30 with a high percentage and falls into the attic room D. This light would pass through the well-known, mostly made of wood side walls are largely absorbed and make no significant contribution to illuminating the room.
- Another advantage of the window reveal according to the invention is that direct sunlight also falls into the attic room D over a longer period of time. In Figure 1, some sun rays labeled S are drawn. These sun rays S fall through the window glass 21 at such a flat angle that they strike the side window reveals. They are also reflected to the maximum. The sun is still shining in the room, which would no longer be the case with the known window reveals.
- the window reveal according to the invention can also be used in existing roof windows, since it can be attached without major structural changes. With newly planned roof windows, however, it is possible to optimize the angle of inclination, the location and the size of the mirrored surfaces. For example, as in the example described, it can be achieved that the window itself is reproduced undistorted in the reflecting surfaces. Other effects, also with regard to the light reflections, are achieved if, instead of a kink, the side surfaces are curved or the side surfaces have a constantly changing angle of inclination.
- the side surfaces do not consist of a single part, but are put together in modular form.
- the individual parts of the kit are made of the same or different materials.
- the entire window reveal that is to say the lateral, upper and lower surfaces, can be assembled in a modular manner and can be installed as a unit.
- the window is already firmly connected to this window reveal.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an inner window reveal, in particular for roof windows, which has at least one reflecting surface.
Windows are embedded in the roof surfaces to illuminate the attics.
An increase in the window area or a larger number of windows is usually not possible due to the applicable building regulations. For this reason, attic rooms that are only lit by skylights generally have a small amount of light.
The problem described above also arises with vertically aligned windows, which are therefore not embedded in roof areas, but which have a deep inner window reveal. With these windows too, a large part of the incident light is absorbed by the window reveal and thus does not reach the room to be illuminated.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide window reveals, in particular for roof windows, which enable an increase in the amount of light in the room.
This problem is solved by an inner window reveal, in particular for roof windows, which has at least one reflecting surface and which is characterized in that the at least one reflecting surface has an inclination angle such that the amount of light incident in a room is increased.
A mirrored window reveal is also known from DE-A-3,122,164.
- Figur 1
- ein Dachflächenfenster mit der erfindungsgemässen inneren Fensterleibung, im Schnitt senkrecht zur Dachfläche dargestellt;
- Figure 1
- a roof window with the inner window reveal according to the invention, shown in section perpendicular to the roof surface;
- Figure 2
- the roof window with the inner window reveal according to the invention, shown in section along AA.
In Figures 1 and 2, a
To increase the amount of light in the attic, the inner window reveal 3 has at least partially reflective surfaces. In this exemplary embodiment, the
The mirrored
The window reveal according to the invention can also be used in existing roof windows, since it can be attached without major structural changes.
In a further embodiment, not shown here, the side surfaces do not consist of a single part, but are put together in modular form. The individual parts of the kit are made of the same or different materials.
In a further embodiment, which is likewise not shown here, the entire window reveal, that is to say the lateral, upper and lower surfaces, can be assembled in a modular manner and can be installed as a unit. In a further variant, the window is already firmly connected to this window reveal.
The same embodiments can also be used for vertical windows, that is to say not for roof windows. The effect that is achieved with these window reveals is the same as the effect already described above for roof windows.
