Definitions
- the present invention relates to the field of packaging; it relates more particularly to a sealed cardboard tray obtained by the volume of a suitable blank and the method of volume of this blank.
- Certain food products and in particular meat of the poultry, steak, liver or other type, are usually packaged in containers in the form of trays associated with a protective plastic film.
- These trays are generally made of polystyrene-type material; their manufacturing cost is relatively low but they have the disadvantage of being neither biodegradable nor recyclable.
- cardboard trays which consist of a generally rectangular bottom, bordered by four side walls. Sealing at the corners is ensured by bellows folded against one of the side walls and held in position by gluing.
- bellows are made in two parts of generally triangular shape. To maintain the volume, one of these parts is glued to the front and the other to the back, depending on their positioning inside or outside the tray.
- a liquid-tight cardboard container is described in document US-A-1 959 613. Its corners are equipped with two-part bellows, one of which has an opening or cut-out to allow direct contact between the other part of the bellows. and the receiving side.
- REPLACEMENT SHEET Particularly in the possibility of gluing only one side of the cardboard blank to maintain the volume of the package.
- the bellows are folded down on the outside to avoid the presence of internal folds and not to present, in the internal volume, a cut blank edge which would absorb liquids. Given the anti-leak destination of this container, for packaging liquids for example, it is therefore essential to position the bellows on the outside.
- this structure promotes the passage of liquids between the two bellows parts.
- the liquid has the possibility of rising by capillary action and it quickly enters the thickness of the cardboard through the upper edge, causing a splitting of the constituent material, a collapse of the packaging and the flow of the contents.
- the presence of the exterior bellows makes this type of packaging unattractive.
- document US-A-4 304 352 provides, for a similar structure, recto bonding. - back.
- the upper cutout of one of the bellows parts ensures the bonding of the other bellows part on the receiving side to improve resistance to level of angles; it also facilitates volume setting in the corners, in connection with the presence of a receiving edge with a sealed cover.
- this container Given its destination, this container requires to apply the corner bellows to the outside, this for the reasons explained above in conjunction with document US-A-1 959 613.
- Such a structure is not very aesthetic and it limits the possibilities of application of an exterior marking.
- the cardboard tray object of the present invention is intended for the packaging of food products of the chicken thigh, steak or other type ... capable of exuding small volumes of liquids.
- this tray is to contain these small volumes of liquids and it therefore has sealing properties, in particular at the corners of the bottom, adapted to avoid the rise of liquids by capillarity; it is also obtained in a very simple manner and capable of being set in volume, by automatic means, at very high rates.
- the sealed container according to the invention is produced from a cardboard blank comprising a bottom bordered by lateral sides connected in pairs at the corners by bellows in two parts. These bellows are pressed against one of the lateral sides, inside the tray.
- the first bellows part, adjoining the lateral receiving side of said bellows, has a cut in its upper part; This cut-out ensures, during the volume setting, direct contact between the second bellows part and the lateral side of reception.
- the volume of the tray is maintained by gluing the internal surfaces of the lateral sides which receive the bellows.
- This gluing is suitable for securing one of the faces of the first bellows part, in the lower zone of the corresponding side, and the other face of the second part, in the upper zone of this side, while avoiding or stopping the possibilities of liquid ascent by capillary action.
- This tray structure requires gluing in suitable areas on one side of the cardboard blank, which allows the use of relatively simple automatic assembly lines.
- the bonding of the folded bellows inside the tray achieves an effective joining at the angles which prevents the liquids from going up by capillary action to the edges of the cardboard blank, at the level of the upper cut made in one of the bellows parts, or at the level of the upper edge of the tray.
- the gluing is carried out by two points of glue; the first on the transition line between the two bellows parts pressed on their lateral receiving side, and the second in the upper part, to ensure the joining of the bellows part without cutting.
- the first point of glue blocks or stops possible upwelling of liquid by capillarity and prevents them from reaching the edges of the tray.
- the tray structure according to the present application with bellows folded inside also gives the finished product an integrity external appearance allowing the printing of advertising messages on a surface without roughness.
- FIG. 1 shows a possible embodiment of the cardboard blank allowing the realization of the sealed container according to the invention
- FIGS. 2, 3 and 4 are perspective views of an angle of the tray, during assembly
- Figure 5 is a perspective view of the tray according to the invention, set in volume.
- Figure 1 is a flat view of a cardboard blank capable of being placed in volume to obtain a sealed container.
- This blank 1 consists of a rectangular bottom 2 bordered by two large lateral sides 3, 4 and by two small lateral end sides 5 and 6, having substantially identical heights. Sides 3, 4, 5 and
- the four bellows 7 are identical and each consists of two parts 8 and 9, of generally triangular shape, separated by a line of central fold 10.
- the first part 8 of the bellows 7 is attached at the small lateral side corresponding to 5, 6. It extends from the bottom 2 over a height less than that of the adjacent lateral side 5, 6, so as to form an opening or cutout 11 in its upper part.
- the upper edge 12 of the triangle 8 extends substantially perpendicular to the edge of the adjacent side, from halfway up this side. To maintain a satisfactory seal in the bottom of the tray 0 and to allow automatic mounting, care should be taken to keep this part 8 of bellows over a minimum height of approximately 1 cm.
- the second part 9 of the bellows 7 is adjacent to the large side 3, • 4 corresponding; She's spreading
- the volume of the tray is produced automatically by appropriate mechanical means.
- This setting in volume is carried out by folding the two parts 8 and 9 of the bellows 7 against the internal faces, either of the short lateral sides 5, 6, or of the long sides 3, 4, as the case may be. This choice is conditioned by the dimensions of the tray and according to the techniques used if it is covered with a stretchable plastic film. In the present case, the bellows 7 are folded over the internal faces of the short sides 5 and
- the bellows arranged inside the tray ensure a quality aesthetic and they do not interfere stacking of the products in each other, subject to providing a taper (to be determined according to the desired end result). On the other hand, they allow an external marking (advertising, decoration, information %) on a smooth surface, without roughness.
- the first stage of assembly consists in gluing the lateral zones of the internal face of the short sides 5 and 6, on which the two parts 8 and 9 of the bellows will be pressed. This gluing can be carried out on the entire hatched surface 14, or be defined by glue dots, arranged judiciously, as described below.
- the next step is to raise the lateral sides 3, 4, 5 and 6 by pressing the two parts 8 and 9 of the bellows 7 against the lateral side 5, 6.
- the front of the first part. 8 of bellows is pressed against the lower gluing area; in addition and thanks to the presence of the cutout 11, the back of the second part 9 of bellows is pressed against the upper gluing area.
- the gluing is obtained by means of two glue points 15 and 16, aligned vertically on the gluing zone 14.
- the glue point 15 is arranged at the upper edge 12 of the first part 8 bellows; it blocks the transition line between this first part 8 and the second part 9 of bellows. In addition, it prevents the rise of humidity by capillarity.
- the second point of glue 16 is disposed in the upper part; it secures the internal face of the short side 5, 6 with the second part 9 of bellows. Depending on the height of the tray, additional dots of glue can be added. Also note that the gluing can be done by stamp in order to obtain a larger bonding surface.
- the sizing is carried out on only one side of the blank, the volume setting of the tray, which follows this sizing operation, is carried out in a very simple and very rapid manner; assembly can be carried out at very high rates.
- the particular mounting process allows correct blocking at the corners and good sealing of the bellows in the bottom of the tray.
- the shape of the tray in the form of a pyramid trunk, facilitates stacking of packaging, empty.
- this shape it is entirely possible to envisage varying this shape, while retaining the same structure and the same mounting principle.
- the lateral sides of the tray can be perpendicular to the bottom to obtain a parallelepiped packaging.
- the bottom 2 can have any polygonal shape.
- cutout 11 produced in the upper zone of one of the parts of the bellows can be produced by any suitable means and be in any form.

Abstract
The sealed container has a bottom (2) bordered by lateral sides (3, 4, 5, 6) connected two by two by means of bellows (7) folded inside. These bellows consist of two parts (8, 9) which are intended to be pressed against one of said lateral sides (3, 4, 5, 6). The first bellows part (8), adjoining the lateral side (5, 6) for receiving said bellows, has a cutout (11) in its upper part; this cutout (11) ensures, during volume setting, direct contact between the second part (9) of the bellows and said lateral receiving side (5, 6). A simple gluing of the lateral internal faces of the sides (3, 4, 5, 6), intended to receive the bellows (7), makes it possible to secure the front of one of the parts (8) and the back of the other part (9) to maintain the volume of the sealed corner. This attachment, by gluing on only one side of the blank, avoids liquid rising by capillarity and gives the tray an attractive external appearance.
