Description

"Set of metal section bars for door and window frames with sliding panels".
* * * * *
D E S C R I P T I O N The present invention relates to a set of metal section bars for door and window frames with sliding panels.
As is known, door and window frames made of metal with sliding panels are accomplished with a fixed frame formed by a pair of upper and lower horizontal section bars and by a pair of vertical side section bars, and with one or two mobile frames formed by similar pairs of horizontal and vertical section bars and by incorporated glass panes, that define respective sliding panels.
In door and window frames of the traditional type the section bars are made in one piece in a material such as, say, alluminiun alloy.
In door and window frames providing thermal insulation each section bar is, on the other hand, accomplished in two distinct parts corresponding to the internal front and to the external front of the door and window frame. The two parts are connected together through insulating strips made, say, in polyamide.
According to a known manufacturing method each vertical section bar is constituted by a main casing provided on one side with wall hooking means, on the other side by a pair of end fins and by a pair of connecting fins with a rectilinear shape, destined to sngage with an adjacent vertical section bar of the mobile frame of a sliding panel.
Still according to this embodiment the seal between the vertical side section bar of the fixed frame and that of the mobile frame of the panel is often unsatisfactory and not in a position to prevent the passage of air and water.
The object of the present invention is to accomplish a set of metal section bars for door and window frames with sliding panels, that allows the substantial reduction of the passage of air and water through the connected vertical section bars of the fixed frame and of the mobile frame of the door and window frame.
According to the invention such object is attained through a set of metal section bars comprising vertical and horizontal section bars for a fixed frame and vertical and horizontal section bars for a mobile frame, wherein each vertical section bar for a fixed frame comprises a main casing provided on one side with wall hooking means and on the other side with a pair of end fins and with a pair of connecting fins in the proximity of one of said end fins and destined to engage with an adjacent vertical section bar of the mobile frame of a sliding panel, characterized in that it also comprises a draught-protection fin extending from said other part of the main casing in a position that is substantially symmetrical with said end fin with respect to said pair of connecting fins.
It is also preferably provided for that the two connecting fins have a base that is enlarged with respect to free extremities that engage with the vertical section bar of the mobile frame.
In this way between the two connected section bars of the fixed frame and of the mobile frame there is created a sort of Labyrinth that reduces to a substantial extent the passage of air and water with respect to the currently known art. The features of the present invention shall be made more evident by the following detailed description of its embodiments illustrated as non-limiting examples in the enclosed drawings, wherein:
Fig. 1 is a transversal section of a section bar suitable for constituting a vertical section bar for a fixed frame in a first set of section bar according to the invention;
Fig.s 2-7 are transversal sections of additional section bars included in said first set of section bars according to the invention; Fig. 8 is a horizontal section of a door and window frame made with the set of section bars of Fig.s 1-7;
Fig. 9 is a vertical section of the same door and window frame;
Fig.s 10 and 11 are transversal sections of two parts that may be connected together of a section bar suitable for constituting a vertical section bar for a fixed frame of a second set of section bar according to the invention, accomplished in the thermal-insulation version;
Fig.s 12-18 are transversal sections of additional section bars included in said second set of section bars according to the invention;
Fig. 19 is a horizontal section of a door and window frame made with the set of section bars of Fig.s 10-18;
Fig. 20 is a vertical section of the same door and window frame.
With reference to Fig. 1, a first section bar 1 destined to constitute a vertical side section bar of a fixed frame of the traditional type (that is, with no thermal insulation) comprises a main casing constituted by a rectilinear element 2. At the extremities 3, 5 of the rectilinear element 2, on one side that, with the section bar 1 mounted as shown in Fig. 8, is turned toward a sliding panel 4, there protrude end fins 6, 7.
Still on the same side of the rectilinear element 2 and in 5 an intermediate position between the fins 6, 7, but closer to fin 6, there protrudes from the rectilinear element 2 a pair of connecting fins 8 destined to engage with the panel 4. Such fins 8 have the base enlarged with respect to their free extremities, destined to receive an adjacent vertical section " 10 bar 15 of a mobile frame 9 of the panel 4 with the interposition of seals 11 in the shape of a brush (Fig. 8).
On the same side of the rectilinear element 2, in a position symmetrical with the end fin 6 with respect to the two connecting fins 8, there protrudes a draught-protection fin 10 15 suitable for preventing the passage of air and water through the area of engagement between the two section bars 1 and 15 of the fixed and mobile frames of the door and window frame (Fig. 8).
On the opposite side with respect to the fins 6, 7, in the 20 proximity of the extremities 5, 3, there protrude from the rectilinear element 2 tangs 12 suitable for defining seats 13 for appropriate seals.
With reference to Fig. 2, a second section bar 32 that may be used on the lower horizontal side of the fixed frame of the 25 door and window frame, has a main casing constituted by a rectilinear element 33. At one extremity 34 of the rectilinear element 33, on one side that, with the section bar mounted as in Fig. 9, is turned toward the sliding panels 4, there protrudes a rectilinear fin 35. On the same side with respect 30 to the rectilinear fin 35 there protrudes a pair of turned-down fins 36 that define guide means for the sliding panels 4.
On other side with respect to the rectilinear element 33 there protrude opposite the extremity 34 and the opposite extremity 39 two pairs of tangs 37 suitable for defining respective seats 38, 41, for wall seals.
With reference to Fig. 3, a third section bar 42 that may be used on the upper horizontal side of the fixed frame of the door and window frame has a main casing constituted by a rectilinear element 43. At the extremities 44 of the rectilinear element 43, on one side that, with the section bar
42 mounted as in Fig. 9, is turned toward the sliding panels 4, there protrudes a pair of rectilinear fins 45. On the same side with respect to the rectilinear fins 45 there protrudes a pair of turned-down fins 46 that define guide means for the sliding panels 4.
On the other side with respect to the rectilinear element
43 there protrude opposite the two extremities 44 pairs of tangs 47 suitable for defining seats 48 for wall seals.
The section bars 1, 32, 42 taken as a whole are suitable for constituting the fixed frame of a door and window frame. In turn each sliding panel 4 comprises a mobile frame 9 that contains a glass pane 14.
The mobile frame 9 consists of external and internal vertical section bars 15, 16, illustrated in Fig. 4 and 5, respectively, and of upper and lower horizontal section bars 49, 50, illustrated in Fig. 6 and 7, respectively.
The section bar 15, illustrated in Fig. 4, is formed by a pair of parallel sides 17, 18. Each of the sides 17 ends at one extremity with a pair of tangs 19 suitable for defining a seat 20 for a seal 11, shown in Fig. 8, and at the other extremity with a tooth 21 suitable for engaging with an extremity 22 of the glass pane 14 (Fig. 8).
The section bar 16, illustrated in Fig. 5, is formed by pairs of sides 23, 24 and 25, 26 orthogonal to one another. The side 23 ends at one extremity with a tooth 27 suitable for engaging with an extremity 106 of the glass pane 14 and at the other extremity with a pair of tangs 28 suitable for defining a seat 29 for a brush-type seal 30 (Fig. 8). In addition, one of the two tangs 28 extends in a hook-type element 31 suitable for connecting with a corresponding hook-type element 31 of a similar section bar 16 in the manner indicated in Fig. 8. The side 24 ends at one extremity with a tooth 32 suitable for engaging with the extremity 106 of the glass pane 14.
The section bar 49, illustrated in Fig. 6, is formed by a pair of parallel sides 55, that end at one extremity with a pair of tangs 56, and by cross-beams 57, 58 for connecting the parallel sides 55, provided with seats 59, 60 for assembly screws. With reference to Fig.s 10 and 11, there is shown therein as a whole a vertical section bar of the thermal-insulation type that is similar to that of Fig. 1, but composed on the other hand of two separate elements 74 and 68 that may be connected together.
The main element 74 of Fig. 10 is formed by two metal tubular half-casings 71 connected together by means of insulating strips 72. At the extremitites of each half-casing 71, at positions corresponding to those of the section bar 1 of Fig. 1, it is possible to see the fins 6, 7 and the tangs 12 with the corresponding cavities 13.
The element 68 of Fig. 11, on the other hand, is an insert of plastic material, say, PVC, that comprises a pair of fins 69 having a shape and function altogether similar to those of the connecting fins 8 of the section bar 1 of Fig. 1 and a fin 70 having a shape and function altogether similar to those of the draught-protection fin 10 of the section bar 1 of Fig. 1. There are also protrusions 73 suitable for snap-connecting the insert 68 to the metal section bar 74 illustrated in Fig. 10. After the section bar 74 has been connected to the insert 68, the resulting section bar 74, 68 is used in a manner similar to the section bar 1 of Fig. 1 as the vertical side section bar of a fixed frame for a door and window frame (Fig. 19) .
There is illustrated in Fig. 12 a section bar 75 that represents the version for a door and window frame providing thermal insulation of the section bar 32 of Fig. 2. The section bar 75 has a pair of tubular half-casings 76 connected together through insulating strips 77. There are also seats 78 for assembly screws. It is possible to see in the section bar 75 the tangs 40, here present at the extremities 39, 34 of the section bar with the corresponding seats 41 and the rectilinear fin 35. Instead of the guide means 36 for the sliding panels 4 there are guide means 79, that have free extremities 80 folded down in an L-shape with teeth 80 suitable for containing laterally a central seal 82 for insulation and for collecting water. The seal 82 is illustrated in Fig. 13. This has a U-shape and is made of the same material as the insert 68 of Fig. 11.
After the section bar 75 has been connected to the seal 82, the resulting section bar 75, 82 may be used in a manner similar to the section bar 32 of Fig. 2, as the lower horizontal section bar of the fixed frame of the door and window frame CFig. 20).
There is illustrated in Fig. 14 a section bar 83 that represents the version for a door and window frame providing thermal insulation of the section bar 42. The section bar 83 has a pair of tubular half-casings 84 connected together through insulating strips 85. There are also seats 89 for assembly screws. It is possible to see in the section bar 83 the tangs 47 with the corresponding seats 48 and the rectilinear fins 45. Instead of the guide means 46 for the sliding panels 4 there are guide means 86, that have free extremities 87 folded down in an L-shape with teeth 88 suitable for containing laterally a central seal 82 such as that of Fig. 13.
After the section bar 83 has been connected to the seal 82, the resulting section bar 83, 82 may be used in a manner similar to the section bar 42 of Fig. 2, as the upper horizontal section bar of the fixed frame of the door and window frame (Fig. 20).
There is illustrated in Fig. 15 a section bar 90 that represents the version for a door and window frame providing thermal insulation of the section bar 49. It is formed by a pair of parallel sides 91 connected together through insulating strips 93. It is possible to see in the section bar 90 the pairs of tangs 56 suitable for defining the seats 61 and the teeth 62 engaging with an extremity 63 of the glass pane 14. The section bar of Fig. 15 may be used both as an upper horizontal section bar and as a lower horizontal section bar of the mobile frame 9 of the door and window frame (Fig. 20). There is illustrated in Fig. 16 a section bar 95 that represents the version for a door and window frame providing thermal insulation of the section bar 15. The section bar 95 is formed by pairs of parallel sides 96, from one of which there extends a tubular casing 98 connected with insulating strips 97 to the other parallel side 96. It is possible to see in the section bar 95 the pairs of tangs 19 with the corresponding seats 20, and the teeth 21 destined to engage with an extremity 22 of the glass pane 14.
There is illustrated in Fig. 17 a section bar 99 substantially in an L-shape provided with a hook-type element 100, that executes the function of the hook-type element 31 of the section bar 16, with an element 101 for connecting the section bar 99 with the section bar 95 and with a pair of fins 102 suitable for defining a seat 103 for a corresponding relief 104 of an insulating seal 105 illustrated in Fig. 18. The section bars 95, 99, assembled with the insulating seal 105, are used instead of the section bar 16 for door and window frames in the version providing thermal insulation (Fig. 19).
