Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to a set of metal section bars for door and window frames with sliding panels.
- As is known, door and window frames made of metal with sliding panels are accomplished with a fixed frame formed by a pair of upper and lower horizontal section bars and by a pair of vertical side section bars, and with one or two mobile frames formed by similar pairs of horizontal and vertical section bars and by incorporated glass panes, that define respective sliding panels.
- In door and window frames of the traditional type the section bars are made in one piece in a material such as, say, alluminiun alloy.
- In door and window frames providing thermal insulation each section bar is, on the other hand, accomplished in two distinct parts corresponding to the internal front and to the external front of the door and window frame. The two parts are connected together through insulating strips made, say, in polyamide.
- CH-A-615 243 discloses a vertical section bar for a fixed frame constituted by a main casing provided on one side with wall hooking means, on the other side by a pair of end fins and by a pair of connecting fins with a rectilinear shape, destined to engage with an adjacent vertical section bar of the mobile frame of a sliding panel.
- Still according to this embodiment the seal between the vertical side section bar of the fixed frame and that of the mobile frame of the panel is often unsatisfactory and not in a position to prevent the passage of air and water.
- EP-A-0 009 652 discloses a closure "U" shaped section bar which is connected to vertical section bars of a fixed frame. A mobile frame of a sliding panel is guided in said "U" shaped section bar by means of interposed weather strips which act as end-of-sliding stroke seals.
- Said closure "U" shaped section bar and the end-of-stroke seals are equivalent as structure and as function to the pair of rectilinear connecting fins and weather strips shown in CH-A-615 243 (Figs. 11 and 12).
- Any section bar does not comprise labyrinth-type seals for preventing the passage of water and air.
- US-A-4 922 661 discloses a water stop formed by a low vertical wall member which extends horizontally parallel to tracks of the window panes and is placed in a lower part of a window.
- Said horizontal wall member in the lower part of a window has the drawback that possible infiltrations of water would be blocked by the wall member and remain trapped between said wall member and an internal track, because the water cannot easily flow downwards to be drained.
- The object of the present invention is to accomplish a set of metal section bars for door and window frames with sliding panels, that allows the substantial reduction of the passage of air and water through the connected vertical section bars of the fixed frame and of the mobile frame of the door and window frame.
- According to the invention such object is attained through a set of metal section bars as defined in
claim 1. - It is also preferably provided for that the two connecting fins have a base that is enlarged with respect to free extremities that engage with the vertical section bar of the mobile frame.
- In this way between the two connected vertical section bars of the fixed frame and of the mobile frame there is created a sort of labyrinth that reduces to a substantial extent the passage of air and water with respect to the currently known art.
- The features of the present invention shall be made more evident by the following detailed description of its embodiments illustrated as non-limiting examples in the enclosed drawings, wherein:

- Fig. 1 is a transversal section of a section bar suitable for constituting a vertical section bar for a fixed frame in a first set of section bar according to the invention;
- Fig.s 2-7 are transversal sections of additional section bars included in said first set of section bars according to the invention;

- With reference to Fig. 1, a
first section bar 1 destined to constitute a vertical side section bar of a fixed frame of the traditional type (that is, with no thermal insulation) comprises a main casing constituted by arectilinear element 2. At theextremities rectilinear element 2, on one side that, with thesection bar 1 mounted as shown in Fig. 8, is turned toward asliding panel 4, there protrudeend fins - Still on the same side of the
rectilinear element 2 and in an intermediate position between thefins fin 6, there protrudes from the rectilinear element 2 a pair of connectingfins 8 destined to engage with thepanel 4.Such fins 8 have the base enlarged with respect to their free extremities, destined to receive an adjacentvertical section bar 15 of amobile frame 9 of thepanel 4 with the interposition ofseals 11 in the shape of a brush (Fig. 8). - On the same side of the
rectilinear element 2, in a position symmetrical with theend fin 6 with respect to the two connectingfins 8, there protrudes a draught-protection fin 10 suitable for preventing the passage of air and water through the area of engagement between the twosection bars - On the opposite side with respect to the
fins extremities rectilinear element 2tangs 12 suitable for definingseats 13 for appropriate seals. - With reference to Fig. 2, a
second section bar 32 that may be used on the lower horizontal side of the fixed frame of the door and window frame, has a main casing constituted by arectilinear element 33. At oneextremity 34 of therectilinear element 33, on one side that, with the section bar mounted as in Fig. 9, is turned toward thesliding panels 4, there protrudes arectilinear fin 35. On the same side with respect to therectilinear fin 35 there protrudes a pair of turned-downfins 36 that define guide means for thesliding panels 4. - On other side with respect to the
rectilinear element 33 there protrude opposite theextremity 34 and theopposite extremity 39 two pairs oftangs 37 suitable for definingrespective seats - With reference to Fig. 3, a
third section bar 42 that may be used on the upper horizontal side of the fixed frame of the door and window frame has a main casing constituted by arectilinear element 43. At theextremities 44 of therectilinear element 43, on one side that, with thesection bar 42 mounted as in Fig. 9, is turned toward thesliding panels 4, there protrudes a pair ofrectilinear fins 45. On the same side with respect to therectilinear fins 45 there protrudes a pair of turned-downfins 46 that define guide means for thesliding panels 4. - On the other side with respect to the
rectilinear element 43 there protrude opposite the twoextremities 44 pairs oftangs 47 suitable for definingseats 48 for wall seals. - The
section bars - In turn each
sliding panel 4 comprises amobile frame 9 that contains aglass pane 14. - The
mobile frame 9 consists of external and internalvertical section bars horizontal section bars - The
section bar 15, illustrated in Fig. 4, is formed by a pair ofparallel sides sides 17 ends at one extremity with a pair oftangs 19 suitable for defining aseat 20 for aseal 11, shown in Fig. 8, and at the other extremity with atooth 21 suitable for engaging with anextremity 22 of the glass pane 14 (Fig. 8). - The
section bar 16, illustrated in Fig. 5, is formed by pairs ofsides side 23 ends at one extremity with atooth 27 suitable for engaging with anextremity 106 of theglass pane 14 and at the other extremity with a pair oftangs 28 suitable for defining aseat 29 for a brush-type seal 30 (Fig. 8). In addition, one of the twotangs 28 extends in a hook-type element 31 suitable for connecting with a corresponding hook-type element 31 of asimilar section bar 16 in the manner indicated in Fig. 8. Theside 24 ends at one extremity with atooth 32 suitable for engaging with theextremity 106 of theglass pane 14. - The
section bar 49, illustrated in Fig. 6, is formed by a pair ofparallel sides 55, that end at one extremity with a pair oftangs 56, and bycross-beams parallel sides 55, provided withseats tangs 56 are suitable for definingseats 61 for brush-type seals 94 (Fig. 9). From the side opposite with respect to thetangs 56 thesides 55 end withteeth 62 suitable for engaging with anextremity 63 of theglass pane 14. - The
section bar 50, illustrated in Fig. 7, is formed by a pair ofparallel sides 51, that end at one extremity with a pair oftangs 52, and by across-beam 53 for connecting thesides 51, provided with aseat 54 for assembly screws. The pairs oftangs 52 are suitable for definingseats 64 for brush-type seals 65 (Fig. 9). From the side opposite to thetangs 52 thesides 51 end withteeth 66 suitable for engaging with anextremity 67 of theglass pane 14. - There is illustrated in Fig.s 10-18 a set of section bars according to the invention for door and window frames of the thermal-insulation type. The description of the different section bars that constitute them shall be made especially by difference with respect to the corresponding section bars that constitute the set of door and window frames of the traditional type that is illustrated in Fig.s 1-7.
- With reference to Fig.s 10 and 11, there is shown therein as a whole a vertical section bar of the thermal-insulation type that is similar to that of Fig. 1, but composed on the other hand of two
separate elements - The
main element 74 of Fig. 10 is formed by two metal tubular half-casings 71 connected together by means ofinsulating strips 72. At the extremitites of each half-casing 71, at positions corresponding to those of thesection bar 1 of Fig. 1, it is possible to see thefins tangs 12 with thecorresponding cavities 13. - The
element 68 of Fig. 11, on the other hand, is an insert of plastic material, say, PVC, that comprises a pair offins 69 having a shape and function altogether similar to those of the connectingfins 8 of thesection bar 1 of Fig. 1 and a fin 70 having a shape and function altogether similar to those of the draught-protection fin 10 of thesection bar 1 of Fig. 1. There are alsoprotrusions 73 suitable for snap-connecting theinsert 68 to themetal section bar 74 illustrated in Fig. 10. - After the
section bar 74 has been connected to theinsert 68, the resultingsection bar section bar 1 of Fig. 1 as the vertical side section bar of a fixed frame for a door and window frame (Fig. 19). - There is illustrated in Fig. 12 a
section bar 75 that represents the version for a door and window frame providing thermal insulation of thesection bar 32 of Fig. 2. Thesection bar 75 has a pair of tubular half-casings 76 connected together throughinsulating strips 77. There are also seats 78 for assembly screws. It is possible to see in thesection bar 75 thetangs 40, here present at theextremities seats 41 and therectilinear fin 35. Instead of the guide means 36 for the slidingpanels 4 there are guide means 79, that havefree extremities 80 folded down in an L-shape withteeth 80 suitable for containing laterally acentral seal 82 for insulation and for collecting water. - The
seal 82 is illustrated in Fig. 13. This has a U-shape and is made of the same material as theinsert 68 of Fig. 11. - After the
section bar 75 has been connected to theseal 82, the resultingsection bar section bar 32 of Fig. 2, as the lower horizontal section bar of the fixed frame of the door and window frame (Fig. 20). - There is illustrated in Fig. 14 a
section bar 83 that represents the version for a door and window frame providing thermal insulation of thesection bar 42. Thesection bar 83 has a pair of tubular half-casings 84 connected together through insulatingstrips 85. There are also seats 89 for assembly screws. It is possible to see in thesection bar 83 thetangs 47 with the correspondingseats 48 and therectilinear fins 45. Instead of the guide means 46 for the slidingpanels 4 there are guide means 86, that havefree extremities 87 folded down in an L-shape withteeth 88 suitable for containing laterally acentral seal 82 such as that of Fig. 13. - After the
section bar 83 has been connected to theseal 82, the resultingsection bar section bar 42 of Fig. 2, as the upper horizontal section bar of the fixed frame of the door and window frame (Fig. 20). - There is illustrated in Fig. 15 a
section bar 90 that represents the version for a door and window frame providing thermal insulation of thesection bar 49. It is formed by a pair ofparallel sides 91 connected together through insulatingstrips 93. It is possible to see in thesection bar 90 the pairs oftangs 56 suitable for defining theseats 61 and theteeth 62 engaging with anextremity 63 of theglass pane 14. - The section bar of Fig. 15 may be used both as an upper horizontal section bar and as a lower horizontal section bar of the
mobile frame 9 of the door and window frame (Fig. 20). - There is illustrated in Fig. 16 a
section bar 95 that represents the version for a door and window frame providing thermal insulation of thesection bar 15. Thesection bar 95 is formed by pairs ofparallel sides 96, from one of which there extends atubular casing 98 connected with insulatingstrips 97 to the otherparallel side 96. It is possible to see in thesection bar 95 the pairs oftangs 19 with the correspondingseats 20, and theteeth 21 destined to engage with anextremity 22 of theglass pane 14. - There is illustrated in Fig. 17 a
section bar 99 substantially in an L-shape provided with a hook-type element 100, that executes the function of the hook-type element 31 of thesection bar 16, with anelement 101 for connecting thesection bar 99 with thesection bar 95 and with a pair offins 102 suitable for defining aseat 103 for acorresponding relief 104 of an insulatingseal 105 illustrated in Fig. 18. - The section bars 95, 99, assembled with the insulating
seal 105, are used instead of thesection bar 16 for door and window frames in the version providing thermal insulation (Fig. 19).
Claims (4)
- Set of metal section bars comprising vertical (1; 74, 68) and horizontal section bars for a fixed frame and vertical and horizontal section bars for a mobile frame, wherein each vertical section bar (1; 74, 68) for a fixed frame comprises a main casing (2; 71) provided on one side with wall hooking means (12, 13) and on the other side with a pair of end fins (6, 7) and with a pair of connecting fins (8, 69) in the proximity of one (6) of said end fins (6, 7) and destined to engage with an adjacent vertical section bar of the mobile frame of a sliding panel, characterized in that said vertical section bar (1; 74, 68) also comprises a draught-protection fin (10, 70) extending from said other part of the main casing (2, 71) in a position that is substantially symmetrical with said end fin (6) with respect to said pair of connecting fins (8, 69), to form a labyrinth between said vertical section bars of the fixed frame and of the mobile frame.
- Set of metal section bars according to claim 1,
characterized in that said connecting fins (8, 69) have a base that is enlarged with respect to free extremities that engage with the vertical section bar of the mobile frame. - Set of metal section bars according to claim 1,
characterized in that said vertical section bar (1) for a fixed frame is made in one piece. - Set of metal section bars according to claim 1,
characterized in that said vertical section bar (74, 68) is made in two separate elements (74, 68) that may be connected together, one (74) of said elements consisting in turn of two metal half-casings (71) including respective end fins (6, 7) and connected by insulating strips (72) and the other (68) of said elements being constituted by an insulating insert including said connecting fins (69) and said draught-protection fin (70).
