Both elements 25a and 25d have a lower hardness than elements 25b, c. As can be seen in Figure 4, all triangular elements touch each other with one of their tips. This point of contact is also the one through which the tilt axis K runs. No real joint is provided in this embodiment either.
- FIG. 5 shows a further exemplary embodiment, in which springs 35a, 35b of different hardness are provided as elastically deformable elements, which act between the binding element 4 and the base plate 6.

- any suitable element and any suitable construction can be selected.
- part of the snowboard binding according to the invention, in particular the elastically deformable elements can already be integrated in the snowboard, as a result of which the overall height of such a device is significantly reduced.
Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a binding for fixing a sports shoe to a snowboard, which has at least one binding element that engages front and rear and / or centrally and / or laterally on the sports shoe or is firmly connected to the sports shoe by suitable means, the Binding element is supported on the snowboard via at least two elastically deformable elements.
A binding of the type mentioned above has become known, for example, from WO 89/08420. This publication describes a snowboard binding with a binding plate which can be pivoted in both directions by a certain angle about an axis lying in the longitudinal direction of the shoe. In one embodiment shown, springs of the same type are provided symmetrically to the longitudinal center plane. In a further embodiment, the front or rear end of the binding plate is mounted on a torsion bar connected to the snowboard for this purpose.
Another snowboard binding of the type mentioned above can be found in DE-OS 3 925 164. A safety binding for a snowboard is disclosed therein, in which the fastening plate for the snowboard shoe is mounted on a plurality of springs arranged symmetrically to the longitudinal center plane and consequently can be rotated or pivoted in any direction. A deflection of the fastening plate from its rest position is provided for actuating the release mechanism for the safety binding.
In connection with skis, ski bindings have also become known in which elastic elements are provided between the ski boot and the ski. For example, DE-A-2 255 406 describes a ski binding in which the ski boot can be tilted laterally in both directions in order to make cornering easier. The tilting of the ski boot is achieved in that two elastic pads and a joint are provided between the ski boot and the ski. A pivot axis lying in the longitudinal center plane of the ski boot is defined by the joint. However, this device has not proven itself on skis, since in particular on hard slopes a strong use of edges is required, which is made impossible in this way.
When snowboarding, a certain amount of lateral tiltability of the sports shoe is required to initiate a control pulse. Due to the fundamentally different riding position and the resulting different position of the boot with respect to the snowboard, such tilting does not have a negative influence on the use of edges in comparison with a device for skis and is therefore advantageous in practice.
Furthermore, US Pat. No. 3,917,298 describes a ski binding in which a flexible element is provided between the ski and a binding plate. The inclination of the boot in relation to the ski is adjusted and fixed via this element by means of adjusting screws. This means that the ski boot can only be tilted to the side using the adjusting screws and therefore not automatically while skiing.
Durch eine starre Verbindung mit dem Obergurt des Skis wird eine seitliche Verkippbarkeit der darauf zu montierenden Skibindung bzw. des Skischuhes verhindert.EP-A-454 655 shows a ski in which a damping element is integrated in the binding area, by means of which vertical shocks are damped. A rigid connection to the upper flange of the ski prevents the ski binding or ski boot from being tilted sideways.
Snowboarding and skiing are completely different sports, although both are practiced in winter and on snow. So the demands on the sports equipment are completely different. This is particularly noticeable when cornering. In skiing, a curve is generally initiated by a stick insert and carried out with pressure shifting on the outer ski, whereas in snowboarding a curve is initiated by a control impulse, in which the rear knee is pressed forward for a brief moment, and by shifting the weight onto the Inside of the curve is executed. In practice, it has now been shown that a limited lateral tiltability of the sports shoe with respect to the snowboard is desired in snowboarding to initiate a control pulse. This was originally guaranteed by using relatively soft snowboard boots. In the course of the further development of this sport, especially in racing, it has been shown that this measure is inadequate and even dangerous, since on the one hand very high loads occur in the lower leg / foot area and on the other hand there is poor power transmission to the snowboard. In a further development stage of this concept, snowboard boots were built with a rigid shell, which were provided with a soft, laterally tiltable sleeve. This solution was unsatisfactory, however, because it significantly increases the snowboarder's ankle and ligament stress.
A satisfactory solution to the above-mentioned problem can only be achieved in that, as already mentioned, elastic elements are provided between the shoe and the snowboard, by means of which the shoe can be tilted about an axis lying in the longitudinal direction of the shoe. If necessary, this device can be integrated in the shoe sole, in the snowboard binding or in the snowboard. Such a device is contained in the binding in a particularly advantageous manner. It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a snowboard binding which ensures that the sports shoe can be tilted sideways about an axis lying essentially in the longitudinal direction of the shoe, said tiltability being intended to be such that the driving properties of a snowboard are improved.
The invention is based on the idea of enabling the tilting of the snowboard binding preferably towards the inside of the shoe and only very slightly towards the outside of the shoe.
This idea is put into practice according to the invention by means of a binding of the type mentioned at the outset in that at least one elastically deformable element arranged on the inside of the shoe has comparatively less hardness than at least one element arranged on the outside of the shoe, the binding element with respect to the snowboard by one in the longitudinal direction of the shoe lying axis from its rest position towards the inside of the shoe against a lower restoring force than can be tilted towards the outside of the shoe.
This measure according to the invention enables problem-free initiation of a control pulse by pressing the knee joints together and thus problem-free cornering with minimal stress on the lower leg / foot region, in particular the ankle. An advantage of this device is that tilting of the sports shoe toward the outside of the shoe is reduced to a small extent, as a result of which this sports shoe assumes a stable position on the snowboard and good power transmission is ensured. The use of this device on a snowboard binding has the further advantage that any combination of shoe and snowboard can be selected while maintaining the driving characteristics. In addition, the device according to the invention is distinguished from many known devices in that the pressure point on the snowboard remains essentially stationary in any driving position, as a result of which no undesirable change in the driving properties occurs.
Advantageous embodiments of this invention result from the use of at least two elastomer blocks or springs with different hardness. With preferred In embodiments, the elastomer blocks have a rectangular or triangular cross section, the elements arranged on the outside of the shoe having a greater hardness than those located on the inside of the shoe. In a particularly stable embodiment, a joint is additionally provided between the binding element and the snowboard, through which the tilt axis runs. To adapt to different slope or driving conditions, it is advantageous that the elastically deformable elements are interchangeable. Furthermore, an advantageous embodiment of the invention is possible in that the tilt axis runs essentially in a horizontal plane and is slightly inclined with respect to the longitudinal center plane of the sports shoe. In such an embodiment, the tilt axis (K) - viewed in a plan view from the rear to the front - preferably runs from the outside of the shoe towards the inside of the shoe.

First, reference is made to FIGS. 1 and 2, which show a sports shoe with a
In Fig. 2 the device described above is shown tilted about the axis K towards the inside of the shoe. The position of the tilt axis close to the surface of the snowboard ensures that the pressure point does not change or changes only slightly when the sports shoe is tilted.
Eine solche Ausführungsform besitzt den Vorteil einer einfachen und billigen Herstellung.FIG. 3 shows an embodiment of the binding according to the invention, in which three elastically deformable tilting
Another exemplary embodiment of a snowboard binding according to the invention is shown in FIG. The
Dies geht allerdings zu Lasten der Bauhöhe und der Produktionskosten, wodurch in vielen Fällen mit einer Ausführungsform ohne Gelenk das Auslangen gefunden wird.FIG. 5 shows a further exemplary embodiment, in which springs 35a, 35b of different hardness are provided as elastically deformable elements, which act between the
Finally, it should be noted that although the device according to the invention is shown below the sports shoe in the exemplary embodiments shown, such a device can also be arranged in front of, behind and / or to the side of the shoe. In particular, such a device can be installed below conventional front or heel cheeks of known snowboard bindings or other fastening means for snowboard shoes. Furthermore, the position of the tilt axis with respect to the snowboard boot and the snowboard can be chosen as desired in accordance with the requirements. Any component that allows the sports shoe to tilt can be regarded as a joint in the sense of the invention. For the suspension and damping of the tilting movement, any suitable element and any suitable construction can be selected. In an embodiment of the invention, not shown here, part of the snowboard binding according to the invention, in particular the elastically deformable elements, can already be integrated in the snowboard, as a result of which the overall height of such a device is significantly reduced.
